Plausible alternate source of the oil drip off the clutch line: The fact that I cannot, for the life of me, get oil into the Blast if there's any wind, without about 50% of the pour missing. There was a nice track of oil down the frame, onto the clutch cable holder, and down the clutch cable, getting covered in road grit, and dripping down... I cleaned it up. We'll see if there's actually a leak, or if I was just making a mess. | ||

So looking for a Buell Blast in Colorado, preferably Western side of the Rockies and there just are not any available. :-( I have seen some in the front range area and have been interested in a few that have the V&H exhaust on them. But it doesn't sound like anyone has jetted any of them. Do I need to look for something completely stock? I found one guy way down south that has a used Blast with like 14k on it that has V&H exhaust and has been jetted but the previous owner is the one who did it so he can't tell me size of jets. Plus the mileage is like 2 to 4x the the other bikes for sale... | ||

Concur! Not rejetting the carb is not a catastrophe, but (the odds are) you're better off with low mileage and a bone stock bike. They are out there. The more mods, the more I'd stay away unless you are really good at repairs. Welcome and good luck! | ||

There are a couple of V&H exhaust set ups out there with decent miles and about the same price as the stock setups. But only that one had the jetting. The real downside is that they are all 250+ miles away on the other side of the Rockies! Good Morning World! A couple of things..... Rejetting a Blast with a V+H exhaust may not be necessary, especially living at a higher altitude. However....normally a stock Blast is quite lean from the factory and a properly setup carburetor will make starting and running ALOT better than the stock setup. That being said....it is not brain surgery to rejet the carburetor on the Blast. The car carrier....I don't know, I have heard of people carring heavier bikes than the Blast on one of those carriers, I would just get a bunch of extra tie downs and make sure you tie it UP to the upper door hinges also to keep the rack from twisting, and you should be good to go. A few years ago I went to Colorado and ever since I have been Jonesing to go back but with the bike this time. | ||

My gf & I found a bone stock Blast with 3k miles on it for $1000. However, we did this at the beginning of the riding season, not now. It's just a bad time of year to be buying a motorcycle (peak riding season, plenty of people coming out of MSF courses, etc). As far as a trailer goes, if you can fit that carrier, you probably have a hitch, yes? U-Haul rents trailers *cheap* - if I recall properly, it's a flat daily rate, regardless of miles. Rent one for a day or two - it will definitely work, and it's a lot safer than trying to rig something up. Rejetting a Blast is *easy* - plus, it's a great opportunity to replace the stock coupler boot between the carb and the cylinder with a superboot that won't tear, and to redo the PCV vent so it's not spewing crap into your intake, and to open up the airbox intake a bit more... (etc). Rejetting the Blast isn't even a one-beer job. Doing all the stuff you should do to it is a few-beer job and makes for a *much* nicer riding bike. How many miles are you talking about being "high mileage"? If it's 10k vs 40k miles, yeah, the 10k one would be nicer. If it's 1k vs 4k (likely on many of the Blasts I've seen for sale), there's no real difference except the 4k one probably has worn out tires. However, both of them will have 10 year old factory tires, so you'll want to replace the tires anyway. MT75s...  | ||

For a little more money (or maybe the same) you can buy one set up for a motorcycle. Plenty of makes out there, just be sure they are rated for at least 400lbs as many are for dirt bikes (Blast weighs "370 lbs"). I used a Moto-Tote which was rated for 600lbs and cost $500, but I've since seen many others that would work for less. Way more convenient than a trailer, you can load it yourself, great for emergencies or just taking the bike along, can use any lane or speed on the highway (trailers are limited) and I'm sure your Suburban is rated for it! (Unfortunately my wife wanted a mini van, so now I'm relegated to using a trailer. But trailers can also be had new and equipped with a bike rail for under $250.) | ||

and while I'm here.... An Apology: I havent been here much as of late, but it isnt due to lack of love of the Blast or that I got another ride (read my profile?). I've been busy packing and moving. In the past I've tried to read every Thumper post and make sure nothing "fell through the cracks". At this point if anything has more than one or two posts on a thread I just delete them from my mailbox as I figured they've been answered or problem solved. So if there's anything that I might be of help with, that maybe isnt getting answered please pm me directly. Not that I'm the end-all of Blast knowledge, I'd just hate it if a fellow Blastard didnt get the help they need with a bike I've grown so fond of. I know Swampy cant be here all the time and EZ cant be everywhere (though it seems he is!!!). Thankfully there are plenty of other people here willing to help and thats how Badweb works and thats how the motorcycling community works too (or is supposed too). I miss being here almost as much as I miss riding the Blast everyday. And then there's the racing......Well, I should be doing something else now, so Blast away! | ||

That Motorcycle mount carrier looks interesting. 400 pounds wouldn't be to close would it, not sure what "wet" weight is for the Blast. I had looked at that 500 pound carrier because it would also work to carry luggage etc... for trips when I didn't need it for the bike. Carrier inside dimensions: 47" L x 27-5/8" W 7-1/2" deep Hmm, blast is listed as wheelbase of 55 inches, total of 77.8 inches length. So even turning it in the carrier I don't think it would work... Wish I could find one local to compare. Just got to keep on looking! :-) | ||

Was mine, now its all his. The MotoTote will hold the raceBlast, XBlast or his Uly! Minor modifications and it would hold Luggage. But I'm thinking if you need more space in a Suburban, you have too much stuff or too many kids! | ||

Gearheaderiko, what do you consider too many kids???? :-) The suburban seats 8, if you swap out the front seats to bench 9, you can also get a 4th row passenger seat that should add two more. I know this because our default seating of 8 does not work when we have all of the kids let alone thinking of bringing friends of kids. The simplicity of seating on a motorcycle.... :-) Although now I am looking at a foldup trailer from Harbor Freight, costs more but would be nice when I don't want to rip all of the seats out of the burban for stuff. Plus the last engine transport got kind of messy. Back to Craigslist to find a Blast! | ||

Dont forget to look for the 20% off coupon (Cycle World has them or do an online search) and if you can, wait for a sale! They've got plenty to choose from  (I bought the short trailer and just stand the whole thing on end in the garage, taking up very little space. Slap the rail on and its ready to go! Fits 2 Blasts/sportbikes or one big bike!) | ||

Yes - our sponsor Revolution Performance sells them - they are the better Niksil kit, also NHRS sells an inexpensive Iron kit - but a lot of folks have had no luck with their piston, though you could try to ask for a different - non - CP piston. Montana-its just north of Canada!!! I did NOT get a new bike, you misread my post. I have a "few" bikes and the Blast is still my favourite! And Concur! CP makes a fine piston and I currently use an oversize one in both Blasts, but the CP 515 piston is a very, very, risky venture. | ||

PS Revolution Performance is great to deal with and has always given me some kind of Badweb discount. Mention Badweb and ask. They also make some inexpensive beehive valve springs that I've run very successfully to 7500 rpm with stock Blast valves and guides! (knock wood) | ||
