Seeing a Buell Ulysses, today, I noticed the very good luggage rack that was attached to it. It's a stock oem part I was told. Has anyone here ever investigated whether this rack with brackets to accommodate saddlebags could be adapted to fit a Blast? |

I'd like to know the answer to that too. |

I bought a cheap set of leather saddle bags shortly after I got the bike back in 2005. I just ran the big flap under the seat and used bungees to the rear foot pegs to keep the bags stabilized a bit. The weather (and cheapness of the bags) has taken its toll and now they look really bad. I am looking at just getting a new set of waterproof PVC bags but I was wondering, does anybody think that hard saddle bags could be mounted safely on a blast? |

I've seen Buell hard bags mounted on a Blast and they look good. I believe they were made for the XB Lightning. Before you spend money on PVC bags (imitation leather I assume aka Willie & Max) you should know that leather may fade and sag, but can last years. Imitation leather will wear through in a weekend. They are not the most durable of products and any mounting problem will quickly show up as a hole. They also cant be overloaded like a leather bag and cant as easily be repaired. |

Good afternoon fellow Blasters! Hope all is well. For the next 6 months or so, my commute has the very real possibility of reaching 100+ miles daily, so two things are for sure, my fuel sucking old truck is going to be stationary much more often, and I need bags. I'm leaning towards Eclipse Luggage for a tailbag and/or tankbag, I want to try to avoid saddle bags if I can. I'll be hauling lunch and PPE (hard-hat, glow-vest, gloves, etc) everyday. Once a week I'll carry the above and about 10 lbs of books, AND there is the possibility of having to transport about 30lbs of hand tools once in a great while. Last year, I loaded up my backpack with the above and did ok, but my commute was alot shorter and the books were lighter. Truth be told, I'm not looking forward to an hour-plus on the Blast, on a stock seat, with 50lbs of stuff over my shoulders. Having said that I have some questions, How to the bungee straps that most manufacture's use on tail bags hold up? I'm concerned that if I were to swerve, $250 worth of tools will end up airborne and into traffic. Also, I loaned my Blast out to my little brother to take his skills test on, so I won't have it back for a week or two. What size bags should fit? The ones in question are 15"X10"X10" for the tail bag and 15"X8.5"x8" for the tank bag (I'm pretty sure they mean wide X long X tall.) What do you think? Way too big? Might just work? Thanks in advance! (Message edited by Dankno on March 21, 2010) |

Correction: The dimensions for the tail bag are correct, but after some more reading, the tank bag, is measured long, wide, tall. |

hmmm... found a pic on ebay... not bad... *thinking... thinking* ...hmmm... I guess the question is "Can I live with myself for buying Italian products?" Need to do more research. Thanks so far! |

I had a Givi box on the back w/rack for my commute. I only went c30 miles but the hard box holds a lot of stuff safely. Chris C |

OK guys, you've about got me sold. so far I like what I'm seeing from the Givi product, it almost looks like the stock Uly luggage and I dig family resemblances. I'm leaning towards the big hard tail bag and if needed going with the soft Eclipse (Made in USA if my research is correct. ) tank bag if needed. My new and exciting questions are as follows; I'm assuming that everyone is using the universal monorack to mount the luggage, what do you think of the hardware and do you have and pictures of the install? I have a bad feeling that my nifty stick on turn indicators will be covered up, or worse have to come off altogether. Again, thanks in advance! |

The Givi Universal rack w/monolock plate attaches directly to the frame via the two (per side) brackets that come std on the Blast. (The version I had actually used the rails inverted to fit). The plate (once installed is higher than the stock tail section. If you have the OEM tail, the turn signals are not compromised. Chris C |

Thanks Chris, that helps. I'm not so much concerned about the rack, but the rails. I removed the black plastic rear fender altogether and used stick-on LED side marker lights stuck to the tail section about 2" back for turn signals. I'm worried there may be a territorial dispute between the rails and my lights, or that the light may be blocked. I guess it's a good thing I didn't get rid of any of the stock equipment... Now if I could only remember what I did with it... |

Sorry, I no longer have it on my bike. I sold it about 1 year ago. Nothing wrong with it, I just wasn't using it at all. Chris C |

I'm looking at the GIVI universal for my blast too. Its 100% stock. I need a way to carry my laptop to work (other than a backpack). The GIVI looks like a decent alternative to the Ventura rack. Does anyone have a picture of it mounted? |

Just scored some mint condition Buell bags from my neighbor. Saddle bags and tail bag, all with the Pegasus logo. Rain covers too!
