cool I bought a one of these on Ebay 2 days ago and it arrived today...sadly unless I get some time on Sunday I probably won't have time to install it before I leave on Tuesday for a 2 week work trip. I decided that with the AM63's and my really wide bars a bit of added stability would be a good thing |

Well my wife sent me out to the garage to get out from underfoot so i started to putter about with the dampner. Turns out I have everything needed to install it. I had a stray bearing that worked as a spacer on the tree and instead of brass ferrules I used a bearing spacer and an inner bearing race from my skateboard parts bins for the frame. I got the adjustment of the Dampner down to the point where I have full throw going left and I lost about 3/8th" to the right. now I just need nuts and bolt for my header and i'm going riding |

Does anybody know if the Jims valve spring compressor is good for high pressure (non stock) valve springs? Or know of one that is? My spring compressor was barely able to do stock XB springs and I dont want to spend $130 on a tool that wont work. |

Thanks Matty, I'm not sure I'm there yet though! EZ: Just stock pegs. Only scraped the foot peg once and my boots a few times. If I get a few more track days in I might go alaMMelvis or make some rearsets (or just ride the raceblast). Unfortunately a planned trip to Britain next year is likely going to suck any extra finances away from track days and enough practice to qualify for a race license. |

XB big valve head, XB piston and cams, SE ignition, chain drive w/tensioner, Mikuni Carb w/*Palm choke, Carrillo rod, and.....thats what we know. Being that most, if not all the XB/Tuber Blasts are built from spare parts, fuel injection wasnt used, but it still needs a fuel pump regardless. It came up for sale last month by the owner who now races Ducati's (and wins) and may be the first XBlast ever built. It is, more or less, the same XBlast I posted a picture of 4 years ago. While the Blast class was originally intended as a sort of 'spec' class and a cheap way to race and have fun, its morphed into a Formula class and there hasnt been a 'stock' Blast seen for a few years now (excepting mine). I've known for a while now what it would take and how much it would cost to make a stocker competitive with the 'cheater' bikes* This bike was for sale at that cost. I told James we (he) needed this bike and somehow we had to buy it. Some 'juggling' has ensued and when the dust finally settles it will be James' new racebike (and he'll have an all Buell stable). I'll probably still have/build a back-up stocker racebike. footnotes: *Palm choke-you cover the carb inlet with your hand! *Barring exceptional racing skills. I do know one guy who can beat most of the current cheater bikes with a 'stock' Blast. But the playing field has now changed and modifying a stocker is like hopping up a VW bug to run with Porsches. It'll keep up, but where the bug runs out of options, the Porsches just begins. The XB/Tuber Blasts have far too much potential. PS and, yeah, its cool as s*** to ride (Message edited by Gearheaderiko on May 20, 2010) |

The XB frame is supposed to weigh less than the Blast frame....along with the wheels, you are talking about a real pantyweight. It is really too bad that the Blast motor wasn't a production option in the XB frame. |

Rear mount is fairly simple. A chunk of 2 x 4, zip ties and popsickle sticks and you're done! Seriously though, I'll work on getting that information to you (& Badweb). |

There is some kind of motorcycle event happening in the stadium parking lot across from where I work today. Sport Bike Ballet is what it looks like to me. I wish my phone camera worked to I could share some pictures. Anyway, there is a Buell tent over there. |

So do I! The entrances to the parking lot are blocked off and it appears the riders are practicing. I don't think I can just walk up there and ask them. |

It couldnt hurt to ask and riding up on a motorcycle couldnt hurt either! Some events (especially practices) are surprisingly accessible! |

They had bars up at all the entry points, and I wasn't on my motorcycle anyway. I wouldn't have wanted to ride around all those stunt riders anyway. |

Yes and the rear isolators as well - lol EZ |

Not yet. The front head mount for the isolator is XB stock since it uses an XB head. The mid mount is a little different, but I dont think it had to be. The rear I havent really seen yet. The idler pulley takes some work to use the stock gear, or you use a swingarm with adjusters, or gear it 'just right' or use a non-stock idler. I'll get pictures when I can (since its not in my possession). |
