Welcome jake! If it took a full 2 quarts its probably overfilled. You'll see that when you check your oil when its hot. (unless you drained the case too, then it will take 2-2.25 qts). Otherwise 1.5 quarts is the place to leave it until you can check it again when its hot (idling for 5-10 minutes or a run up and down the block wont do it). |

Just picked up a purple 2002 Blast for my gf I had a blast riding it home! *ducks* It really is a fun bike, though. And she can flatfoot it. Which makes her happy. The fork seal on the right is leaking. How difficult of a fix is this/what does it typically cost at a decent dealership? I've done fork seals before, but usually on bikes with center stands. |

Sorry, one more question: I see the tire bits in the FAQ, but they mostly cover what fits, not how different tires work/feel. The tires right now are OEM tires that are 10 years old. What's a good option for newer tires that are still grippy? There are a lot of curvy, twisting roads around here. I'm also up for dual compound if anyone makes them. Thanks! |

Pirelli. MT75's are the later model OEM tires and what we've raced on for years. Other Pirelli's are good in non-stock sizes and may get more tread mileage. If it were my GF, I'd "stick" with the MT75's until she wears them out. Pirelli's are also cheap! There are a lot of tire write ups in the tire section. Unfortunately, many just want to know about bigger tires and the rest gets buried. ....and Do Not Buy Dunlops for the Blast!!!!! |

I'm a fan of the over-sized myself, I see the older style Ninja 250 racers are now running them as well - found out reading tire reviews - lol - but for the first 2000 to 3000 miles of riding the MT75 are fine and deliver everything she'll demand. Then you can step to the larger size for better mileage and handling with full confidence in Pirelli's ability to deliver what we are talking about. EZ |

Question: If I wanted to add some Sea Foam to my gas, is it cool to add some to an almost empty tank, then ride 1/2 mile up the street to top it off? Or is it necessary to add the Sea Foam to an already full tank? |

If I'm trying to keep already-clean carbs clean, 1-2 oz/gal is what I throw in bikes. If I'm trying to clean out dirty carbs, "a lot." Half a can or a can for a half gallon of gas will work! Though, be warned - you may want to do this at the gas station. If there's enough seafoam in the mix, bikes will run poorly. I did this to an old CX500, and had to run with about half choke to even make it ridable. Also, be aware that if you *are* going to do it at a gas station, a heavy seafoam mix smokes heavily. Dense white smoke. So you might want to be downwind of everyone, and do it late at night. Great for getting the crud out of carbs, though! On that old CX500, I did this semi-regularly, ran a few ounces in the tank normally, and when I finally tore down the carbs after 4 years of owning the bike, with the previous owner never having touched the carbs, they were nearly spotless inside. |

Thanks dudes. I eyeballed a few oz in there and everything went swell. A little bit of that and a topper on the oil and hello spring! Shed another belt guard too. So liberating.

The Seafoam product has a fuel stabilizer in it. I've used it the past few years as an over-the-winter storage additive. Add it. Run the bike to get it circulated through the system and it should be good 'til spring. I no longer use Stabil, and have had much better running engines. |

What's a good set of adjustable mirrors to put on a Blast? The mirrors on the 02 kind of suck, and are not very adjustable - a bit of a problem with a 5'2 rider and a 6'0 rider. I was thinking of getting some Lightning "mickey mouse" mirrors for it, since those work well on my XB9SX. Any other suggestions for mirrors? |

Quick question. Is the gasket at the dipstick supposed to go on top of the fuel tank cover or under it. Looks like on top but it was under the cover when I picked the bike up. Ordered a FSM but don't have it yet. Thanks |

On top of the cover. Also, I think the flatter part of the lip is supposed to be on the bottom. |

It was pointed out however to go the other way and the grommet actually fits in the tank cover. I think thats probably correct, but you'll spend an awful lot of time trying to get it to fit that way and get the filler neck trim ring to fit properly as well. Fat/wide side down works best! |

Syonk - As far as mirrors go, I love the 3rd Eye bar end bicycle mirrors. They fit great, and are super cheap if you lay it down, etc. You can get them on Amazon. |

Well for the regulars that remembered my Frankenstein engine project. I have finally got the motor running correctly without any unusual noises. (Having a 1 year old and being deployed really slows down my wrench time.) The last noise i had was from the exhaust rocker. The shaft/ bushing was a little loose, so i swapped them from the other motor. Also, I miss installed the push rod cover O rings, so I choose to install Zippers collapsible covers instead of pulling the head. Now I have 2 pieces of chrome, the push rod covers and the "points" cover. If i could just get some time to ride. (Message edited by crackhead on April 13, 2011) |

I need help Ezy or any of you guys. this is Gussie. Getting back on after 15,000, problem free miles on the 2000 Blast. So many things to report, but first the problem. Tried to take off the other night with the ol ,kickstand down, backfired and now won't start. Roles over good and everything. Wasn't there an entry ounce on here about the switch on stand. Could that be the problem and can you bypass? What else could it be? help! Will enter info on Perelli scooter tires and other things soon as I deal with this |

Check your intake coupler. I had mine backfire a few days ago and it popped the intake coupler off enough to make it not light. Same thing, would turn over just fine, no start. You can pull your airbox cover off and cover the carb opening with your hand as well - you should feel a good vacuum. If you don't, the coupler popped loose. |

Concur! Das Boot! Thats the most likely culprit since a backfire through the carb can pop the carb off or split the boot. I would also check to see if you are getting spark. If you get consistent spark, then its probably not a bad safety switch, but the intake boot. |

Sorry, Twack, I dont have any way to post a pic of the tank gasket. If you look through the threads though, you can find quite a few that arent fitted properly! |
