Well, all. This weekend I was offered a small fortune for my Thumper, It was an offer I couldn't refuse. It will be going to my cousin, which means I will be seeing ALOT of it, (as well as keeping it running for him). I have decided to pick up a 03Firebolt, I have been keeping an eye out for a while, and my patience has proved rewarding. Found a White one about an hour away, Looks clean, and revs beautifully, though was unable to ride it due to our sudden continuation of winter. It had some oil by the front upper motor mount, he said the bolt holding the oil pressure line loosened and splattered front of head. As well as, the oil looked almost green and bubbly till it warmed up about 10 minutes. Are these signs to walk away? |

You want to make sure it is not a rocker box leak, there is a big difference between oil left over from an oil cooler line leak and a rocker box gasket leak when it comes to fixing it....not impossible but time consuming. |

Well, there is green oil. Redline Racing oil is green. Dark green. Bubbles are normal. Better to ask your questions about an XB on the XB forum though (I think). |

Well, I guess if your hands are warm in them at 30 degrees, then a good smack on the knuckles* or so wont bother you. They just looked a tad too thin for 'off road' riding. *For those that may not have had the pleasure of working in frigid climates, a good hit on the knuckles or fingers, especially with a hammer, sends a whole new world of pain through you that you wont soon forget (I know I certainly havent). |

They have a plastic fake fur inner linning, then an insulation layer, then outer grip rubber - a lot of guys wear knit gloves under them, some didn't, I didn't. The loading dock of the freezer was kept at 5 deg - so warmer than the rest of the place. A radical place to work - especially in Florida! EZ |

Whats up guys? I'm looking for a BLAST flyscreen if anyone has one for sale. I have a BLAST headlight set-up on my slingshot and I think the flyscreen would look slick with it. Let me know. |

The spot Harry is talking about is a great stop in the Brooksville area to wet your whistle and meet riders, the Hess station at 50/Spring Lake Hwy. Since I prefer the two-rider tango to group riding, this works great - I still get to meet a lot of interesting people and see some pretty cool bikes. I had never seen so many Buell's as I did on this day - that was great. I was bound to run into a fellow BWB. Harry - it was great to meet you and have a little time to chat. Have fun at the 200

With the help of a friend this weekend, I finally got my new belt installed and the carb boot replaced with the super boot. The bad news? The bike still runs like ass. It will start and idle fine, but once the bike has warmed up I cannot give it more than 2% throttle without the bike stalling. Any ideas? I hate this carburated crap, its impossible to figure out whats wrong. |

New intake gasket? EZ |

You mean that gasket that goes in between the main airbox piece and the carb itself? yea I accidently tore it a bit, but it is before the carburetion, so its not like its causing an intake leak. I'll order one anyway. |

actually it could let in a lot of bad air torn, experience - lol - then again - who knows... diaphragm, o-ring to manifold and engine, vacuum line leak, low compression, bad plug wire, or plug, or jetting, the list goes on - lol EZ |

Have you rejetted or are you still at stock jetting? Did you do anything to the bike before you experienced this problem (I mean besides throwing it on the ground)? It sounds like "Das Boot" or a maybe tank vent problem |

Bike is still stock, I don't know how to rejet it. No, I didn't do anything before the problem. Last fall it died on me on the highway on my way home from work, as if I ran out of gas. I was lucky and was somehow able to get it running again after a few minutes and made it home near full throttle. The next day I didn't even make it a block away before it died and started acting up like above. I figured it was the boot, so I got that reinforced super boot, and it sat here for several months till I could get it changed. Even after the new boot, it still acts up. The tank vent was disconnected yesterday as I had the tank cover off, and I didn't put it back together. I doubt its that anyway, as I smell gas around the gas cap when I tuck in, that seal is probably no longer holding. |

Dirty jets - use Seafoam - bad fuel? Float stuck? EZ |

The tank has a rollover valve and there was a recall of some that were bad. I'd pull the cap off of loose just to be sure. Did you need to give it full throttle to run or would it only run WOT (as in high rpm). ...and its not a California bike right? |

I'll pick up some seafoam and see if that helps. Highly unlikely to be bad fuel, my name is on the gas station I buy from, but you never know. Float stuck? I don't even know what a float is, so I hope it isn't it! Erik, I'll try running it with the cap off to see how it does. Once the bike is warmed up I can't even get it to run at anything more than idle, if I go full throttle the bike loads up, coughs a few times and then stalls, or just goes straight to a stall. Not a CA bike but I do plan on putting a carbon can on it. |
