I ordered a Blast-specific LED tail light & turn signal combo light off of eBay. It was $79 and seemed like the seller's stuff was getting good reviews. I'll post a link to the eBay item although this will expire..(the seller is autodynamic123)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360335198203

Embedded is this nice youtube video showing the light in action..

As you can see it's got a couple cool features and in theory could make you more visible and thus safer. The way the tail light blinks upon application of brakes was the best selling point for me.

So I got the kit; it came in 4 days. Comes with the light, a small wiring harness for the sequential turn signals and instructions. Build quality seems good. I noticed it also fits a Ducati Monsters as well as Buell X1, S1 & M2..that's kinda cool.

I removed the old light and turn signals pretty easily. Into the box they go - until either needed or passed forward to another Blaster...for now I'll hold onto them until the bike gets through a safety check in July.

I buss out the voltmeter to establish which leads go where. You can see that the black ground is off to the side and the red wire is running light and white side is brake light.

The turn signal wiring is clearly explained in the directions. I wired everything up, tested it, then installed everything. I used 5 cable ties to bundle and secure the wiring under the seat. It's in there pretty good but I'll keep an eye on it at first especially. Might need to tape up all the press connections.

So installed the buggah looks great and is really bright.

I wanted to compare the light output of the stock unit vs this unit and realized I could use my camera's light meter to get a pretty good idea of the differences in output. Based on my calculations, the new light is about 2.5X brighter in running light mode and about 2X brighter in brake light mode. Plus it looks cool when off.

The rapid flashing when you apply the brake REALLY get everyone's attention. The sequential turn signal is awesome and again is very attention-getting.

Plus there's a row of 8 ultra white LED lights underneath aimed at the license plate...looks wicked!

As you can see, removing the rear signals really 'cleans up' the tail section!

Will it pass safety check? Well my guess is it *will* depending on where I take it. The old dude where I go is pretty clueless to things like DOT minimum distances between brake light and turn signal (if something like that even exists in Hawaii..).

For now I'll keep the stock front turn signals though they will go LED soon and the front headlight is going HID. It's gonna rain all weekend so might as well play in the garage. I love doing easy little stuff like this that spices up the bike and can be justified as "safety improvements"..lol.

ps checked it out now that it's fully dark and all I can say is WOW that sucker is bright! Looks SICK!!

Nice job and great pix to see.

I recently added these ... http://www.hyperlites.com/ ... to the rear of my BLAST! ... (also YELLOW !!!) ... but did not remove or replace the original lights ... use original turn signals.

I'll have to get some pix to post here ...

Thanks for your post !!!

Bumping an old thread. This is the Motodynamic piece.

I have a $15 discount offered through a GB I set up if anyone is still interested. I 'officially' closed the GB today, 9/28 but will issue the code for a couple more days (expires Oct 5th) for anyone still interested...

Wow! Great review and looks like a worthwhile product. I was just going to install the signal dynamics brake light module, which similarly flashes the brake light when applied, in my daughter's Blast.

Now I think I'll consider this and use the XP module on my tuber!

Thanks ~ Steve
