Danke! Two questions: (1) Best size (the one's that Gearheaderiko is running)? (2) Do you usually buy online and mount yourself or try to find a local dealer with the tires. OK, third question - did you ever get the Thor's Hammer patches? |

140/70-16&110/70-16 - both on how to find them motorcycle-superstore.com usually has them cheaper - right mow 134 for the pair - is shipping still free, it was 6mo. ago. Glitch got too busy, and I definitely am - full time accountant, full time student, new home owner, married, and broke half the time - damn house - whoever wants to have a go at it have at it and I'll point you - email me, or pm me - in the direction of other customer bases/forums as well - lol EZ |

Long answer: What do you want? If you want quicker turn in use the Diablo (110/70X16 per general recommendations). An excellent riding tire and a smaller diameter than the MT75. A bit twitchy though. If you're a heavier rider, you may want to use the Diablo rear (it only fits in the 140 size). It also reportedly gets much longer tread wear than the MT75 and seems to handle just as well. Its not actually that much wider, mounted, than the MT75 (only about 10mm wider). It will give a harsher ride if you are a lighter rider. For slower turn in and a less twitchy feel, the MT75 front would be a better choice as its a larger diameter than the Diablo 110/70. The MT75 doesnt give as nice a ride either, but both Pirelli's ride are excellent. The MT75 rear will give a better ride and handle just as well. The Diablos really just like to be leaned over. They beg for it. Who cares about front tire mileage? It'll be twice the rears anyway and at that point you should, for optimum handling, replace it. Or looking at it another way. If you like fat tires, get the MT75 front and the Diablo rear. Your other preferences can be deduced from the above. You can mount and balance them yourself. The front will be much easier than the rear. You should find out how much a local store will cost to buy and M & B the tires for you and how much it will be to buy online and have someone M & B them. Or doing it yourself. If you've never done it, it can be quite the task, the rear being the most difficult. If it'll cost you an extra $10-$20 to have someone else do the M & B, it might be worth it. I have no knowledge if mixing the two tyre types will give adverse handling. Certainly not at normal speeds, but if you really push it) Yeah, what about those patches? |

I understand the busy part brother - full time finance exec and part-time university instructor. . . Full time dad for kid who's 10 going on 21. Thanks for the Diablo info - got a nice little pick me up check from work (award) and thought that I would replace the Dunlops that the second owner had put on - they still have good tread life but I "grew up" in Junior GP and they corner like s&*t. I love my Blast as my commuter and weekend toy so I want nicer rubber for it. I will see what I can do about the patch - did anyone try Cafepress? ***If only they did patches*** :-P Nite nite all. PS - It seems that the Diablos come in a P and and S version with about a $3 - $5 price differential for the S. Only for the front tire though. . . (Message edited by conwaybrew on August 01, 2009) |

FWIW: 'We' race on the MT75's and they have speed rating of 130 mph. If that matters. |

This morning I took a pic of my ST66 with 9500 miles on it. I had been shooting for 10,000 miles before replacing but I think I could easily get 11,000! LOL! I replaced front & rear at the same time and the front is in need of replacing before that rear...on a Blast!!! Not looking forward to changing the front again. Sux! Johnny

Most definitely a lot of commuting. Not as flat as it looks from that angle. Just flat-ish. LOL. I've seen much flatter on other rides. |

Oh yeah, they do. Due to the flatness they are developing I don't corner as hard as I used to on them but when they were in proper shape they grip fantastic in the dry and allowed me to drag pegs and other bits as well as or better than the Avon VS I ran last. |

So that would be a good compromise tire for the commuter rider. Thank you. EZ |

Johnnymac: Please forgive my lack of knowledge but who makes the ST66 and what size do you use (front and rear)? I am on my second rear Pirelli MT75 and it is shot at about 4,800 miles. I had about 4,300 on the first one. I realize this is more than most people get on their Pirelli tires but it is still annoying to change tires twice in one year. I use the Blast mostly for commuting and don't need the performance the Pirelli's provide very often. If I could get 10,000 miles on a set I'd be really happy. |

Ok, I found them online but it says they are a scooter tire? I understand that they are rated for faster speeds than my Blast will go but there is no way I'm going to walk into the local Harley stealership and ask for scooter tires! Those guys tease me enough for riding a Blast already. |

ask around, you might have a friend that has a friend with a tire changer in their basement. Then order the tires online for cheaper and you are the friend can change them. The tires are $20 each cheaper online and most shops change 20-40 each for install. Changing them your self, just paid for a second set of tires. |

No worries, the "scooter" tire is the best tire I've had on my Blast. It's made for the big Suzuki Bergman. |

I just now ordered a new set of tires from "motorcycle-superstore.com" with free shipping for $155.98. I got another Pirelli ST66 140/70s for $72.99 and a Pirelli Sport Demon 100/90 for $82.99. "Americanmototire.com" has the ST66 for $66.41 but they want $13 shipping for that one tire alone. Not such a good deal at that point. I could have went with the MT75 for the front for only $52.99 but heard nothing but good about the Sport Demons and I also wanted to try an over sized profile up front to compare to the lower profile ViperStryke I have on currently. Looking forward to spooning them on, especially the front tire. That one's first. I will wait until the rear is bald before I put the new one on. At this point I'm gonna ride it like I did the other rears I had and see what the final mileage ends up. Johnny |

Stoked - my brand new ST66's arrived today (since I commute mostly on the Blast) and my portable tire changer and balancing media should be here on Friday. Looks like I'm changing tires this weekend! That 140/70 looks sweet. . . |

Thank you. I have the xb and 1125r for performance. I just actually bought the blast today...well yesterday. I got it to commute and take on some dirt roads. Nothing to extreme but like fire roads, stuff like that no ruts or anything. Once again thank you. This bike is a lot of fun -chris |

Yeah, thats kinda what I figured since you do have the XB moniker. But I thought I'd better tell you, just in case. Hard stuff is okay. The Blast, with the small front wheel, tends to 'plow' into the soft stuff. |
