Well, I got hit today on the 101 freeway by a beige minivan. I'm a little banged up, but pretty much OK. She decided that my lane was better than hers, a just went ahead and quickly moved over. (Into me). So the CHP show up, take reports, and we'll see from the insurance company. I'm gonna go soak in a bath now. -Mark |

Glad you are ok Carcass. I too have known the idiocy of minivan drivers. Geico (thier insurance) decided to not total my bike, thankfuly) since there was only $1425 in damage, supposed to get the check in 3-5 days. This may be an oppourtunity to get the Pro Series stuff installed :P Keep us up to date on how you are doin, and take plenty of Motrin! |

Mark! - Geez - that sucks - looks like its time for those upgrade parts - eh? - Glad to hear your alright though! Wow - its getting rough on those roads - with the economy tight - more folks choosing driving as a means of saving money over other forms of transportation - making it more dangerous for us the rider - lol - Carefull out there folks! - Have a glass of your favorite Mark, unwind and take care! That blows...had that happen to me plenty of times, but luckily I've managed to be just a little bit quicker than them. My favorite was the guy on I-94 who looked me right in the eye and THEN decided to commandeer my lane. I left a nice bootprint on his door for that one. Assholes. Glad to hear you're OK, and Rockbiter, the Pro Series stuff for the Blast ROCKS. I can't wait to get it dyno tuned later this year and see what he's doing now. Went for a ride two-up for the first time ever on the Blast yesterday and that little bike has no problems at all with the added weight, handling or otherwise. Continues to impress me every time I get on it! Bryan |

So the Mini van thing is not just my imagination. I thought it was a local thing here in Maine. Here they like to get right up on your rear end and see how close they can get. Now that I am back on the road,(snows all gone and temps are in the 50's) the pro series and re jet works great. I am having a problem with the speedometer however. It seems to indicate that I am going faster than I was last year. What can be wrong. Sandy |

Thanks guys. Maybe I should change my alias... ...Mini-Van Man? ...Hood Ornament? ...Hubcap? Pavement Missle? Freeway Gymnast? Disastro-Van? Hmm.. Maybe I'll start a club: Blast Riders Against Stupid Traffic Ruining Astrovan People. No wait, that's: B.R.A. S.T.R.A.P. Well, it does have a nice ring to it. Want to join? You just need to own a Blast and hate Mini-vans. Or Soccer-moms in Volvos. Or short girls that can't drive in tall Suburbans. Or the old lady in the Edsel that can barely see over the steering wheel. (All you see is blue hair and knuckles) You get it. Oh well, they're all out there so let's be careful, huh? Anyway, feeling much better now, thanks guys. -Mark |

Hey! I have a minivan! The difference is, since I have a Blast! too, I watch for motorcycles. When I come home with more stories of close calls (no actual collision yet...) she knows to watch for us when she drives. So, if you are in Delaware, and see a Filipina driving a blue Kia, you might be OK. |

Up lifting support from Michigan! I rode tonight, cold and high winds. No minivans in sight only deer in the dark. I stopped to get gas and a pop for sick Mommy Dearest at home, and some kid at the gas station was screaming for me to give him a smoke show? All I could do was look at the brand spanking new Kenda on the back and tell him no(The wind would have blown all the smoke away anyhow) |

Ok I am through with my local dealer, Chattahochee HD-Buell in Columbus GA. I picked my wifes 2000 model Blast up on Thursday at noon. When she went to ride it on Saturday (After hauling it 150 miles to her daughters) it would not start. Dropped it off on Monday and they have no interest in making it right. They just want to try and feed me a line of BS to keep from taking any responsability for what happened. |

Did it run when you picked it up? Its a pretty simple machine. You see I am posting tonight and not riding because it got cold here in Michigan! I had the Little Kid on the back this afternoon to go pick up dishwasher parts in town. Had it up to 85MPH with a heavy crosswind, me 172lbs, Little Kid 180lbs(14YO!) I'm liking this more then the Sportster. I still need to know what the torque spec is for the rear axle nut. |

They rolled it out and I put it on the truck. The first time it was tried was Saturday morning 150 miles from home. They are giving me some trash talk about it being fine when they finished the service. They say the Voltage Regulator or the stator must have gone bad an killed the battery. I am not that stupid. Neither of those parts went bad and killed the battery sitting on the back of my truck with the ignition off. They have no interest in customer service they just do not want to admit that they either missed something or screwed something up. I bet it would be a whole different story if I had a 25k tied up in a Road King and a bunch of chrome instead of a 4 year old Blast. |

Dan - truck it back tell them to fix it and make it right and lean hard - their records will show the bikes mialage and yours should still concur - thus proving their fault by handing you a none serviced bike - you could use their own records against them in court - easily - you keep your work order copies or request another - its standard HD policy stuff - mialage, etc. - they don't even try to say dumb shit like that here in Cali - rip them a new ass and tell them they owe you - next step is the owner - don't screw around with middle management, because their the ones trying to feed you the bullshit - take it to the top and stand your ground - you paid for services not rendered and restitution is still due! - Got Thump?! Went to Seaford HDB to go on a demo ride. Got there 10 minutes too late. The free bags were all gone. I rode the XB12R anyway. I'm in LOVE! I especially liked the part where I decided to open it up when I was already in second gear, and the front came up! My first wheelie, and it wasn't scary at all! Unfortunately, financial priorities keep me exclusively on the Blast!, but perhaps some day I'll have them both. I won't get ride of my Blast! |

Well it looks like my Rockerbox gasket went this week. It's an early 2001 model w/ just over 5k miles on it. Just started dripping a bit of oil while parked. So I'm guessing it is the Rockerbox gasket (is that a good guess?). Question I have your you all is: Is there anything else I should do to it when I replace the gasket? Any other seals or service work while I'm in there? Thanks! -stuart |

Not really - though it does give you a chance to look things over - remember - number side up - its pretty straight forward otherwise and there is a section in the Thumper KV with helpfull hints. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

You might change the two rubber gaskets on the top of the rocker box, and 4 seals on the screws that hold the lid on. Good thing is, the metal gasket won't fail like the paper does. |

Carcass, glad your 'okay'.Hows the bike? Yes it does seem like we're getting swatted a lot lately.(my riding buddy of recent got 'merged on' and went down last week). He's 'okay. The 'merge over without looking' is one reason I like loud pipes.(try running w/ open header-they see you!) It has been my experience that when I'm riding the 'Hog' people tend to have a little more respect, but when I'm riding the Blast people just take my lane away from me.I've taken the riding position of 'covering the lane' because the 'nipperheads'(slammed honda acuras & such)will just try and fly by you(ie: in turns) if you leave the lane open. Lastly, years ago a minivan cut me & a friend off,so my friend flipped them the bird and WE got pulled over!!! |
