I know the boot is just the boot; I should have been more precise and said that I like Dan's overall boot and intake/filter assembly. Sorry for being lazy with da words, but I do love the overall look, and am always looking for better feedback from Blastards who run this setup, relative to hitting it with your right leg/knee. |

If you want to remove the stock airbox and don't want a huge air filter sticking out, get the velocity stack from American Sport Bikes then use the Outerwears filters. PM me if you're interested, I'm going to be selling mine with 3 extra filters. |

I bought this last year. 7,500 Miles. $1600. I put several days labor and about $1,000 into it to get it to run correctly. (I kept my Blast) Check out e-bay as well as Craigs list. They have good value tubers going for ridiculous prices. Chris C |

Indy: GSX650F has more go and definitely more sport with 4-cyl. 500 is more Blast territory. Still, gotta go with the others on a used XB9 or XB12. Once you get used to radical steering geometry and mass centralization, it's hard to go back. |

So last night I learned an important lesson about changing oil on the Blast: "Pay 'tention!" The whole damned evening was spent divided between assembling a patio set and pushing a tricycle and chasing away bees from little ones and visiting with neighbors while I was trying to change oil. This with limited time because "Lost" was on at 8:00. It's the only appointment viewing in my house. I was re-installing the hose clamps on the drain line when feewww, the clip slipped out of the pliers and shot over my shoulder into the lawn. After some careful sweeping with a magnet-on-a-stick, it was found. I couldn't find a proper funnel and what I did find slipped out of the fill hole while I was pouring. @#$%! So I cleaned it up. Then I proceeded to start the engine without the cap/dipstick in place. Don't do that, ever. By the time I pulled the tank and wiped everything up/down, my 10 minute oil change had turned into an hour of swearing. I've got to pick up some Gunk today and do more cleaning, as some of the frame pieces have impossible to reach areas. I will say that Seafoam is a wonderful product. I'd added it to the fuel last year -instead of Stabil- and the engine started right up and ran splendidly! ______________________ Firing order: 1 |

My leg would touch the stock airbox on the Blast and it was quite annoying, doesn't happen with Dan's intake. While there isn't much room between the intake and my leg, it doesn't touch. I'm not sure how it will be when she rides it though. |

An S1 - sweet - M2's are nice as well, The rest of the Tubers are cool as well, just not my cup of tea. Dan's intake is a good alternative for the conservative who don't go with the stack - no leg worries! EZ |

Well after tires and a fuel tank drain I am finally back on the road. Bike was hard to start and would lose power randomly. had replaced "das boot" with the superboot and no change. Had prob 1/2 gal of crap in tank. Next pieces are prob the jardine exhaust and the rest of the intake setup from Dan to go with the superboot. Anyone coming to east TN to ride the smokies/dragon give me a shout. John |

Ok here is a question for everyone. If Erik Buell gets thru his no-compete with HD and say bombardier(which offered to buy from harley andis parent co of Rotax)brings him on board and lets him start building bikes again how many would buy a non-HD Buell? Just curious I guess John |

Wouldnt it still be a Buell? Unless they sign him on as an engineer working on another brand, but I dont think thats in Eriks plans or desires. If they made what I want, I'd buy one. Not likely to happen though as I tend to keep things for a long time, so it'd be 10 years down the road. |

buy a non-HD Buell? NO. Unless He Designed something of his Own creation that was as reliable, easy to work on, dealership and aftermarket parts sourcing cheep as the H-D Engine Blast is. The Engine would have to be Made in America not just Assembled. I have no use for anything Imported from Overseas. Knock on Wood, I have never had any of the problems (Mechanical, Electrical or Oil Leaks) that others have had with my Blast. And it does get Rode Hard and Put up Wet from Time to Time. |

I buy bikes that fit my needs and purpose (and my wife's). I am not as concerned with who makes the bike as I am with how well it fits my riding. Erik is known for innovation and performance. I would have no problem buy another bike designed and possibly built by him. (Message edited by darisb on April 30, 2010) |

Oh yeah one of our guys at corporate was wanting to race me for pink slips...his goldwing against my Blast.. If he only knew that I will pick a certain 11 mile stretch with 318 curves AKA the dragon and then have me a goldwing to do god knows what with.... But of course he did NOT have his bike today. Funniest thing I ever saw was a Goldwing at a Battletrax competition. He had the floorboard edges ground down to nice sharp edges by the days end. Got to see exactly how far one could tip one of those puppies. Same day I got to see Redge Kitrel ride - him and Jerry/Ferris are the two smoothest riders I'd ever seen. EZ |

nice. TN. i had some good friends graduate from maryville high school, and i spent a good deal of my time in that area growing up (tennis matches, orchestra, etc.) i envy you just a bit - the twisties through gatlinburg/pigeon forge/smokies in general are amazing to drive through. they must be even better to ride through. |

Anybody know the girl who owns this bike? I chatted with her briefly tonight, but forgot to swap info, see if she wants to ride together. Brooklyn, NY; Park Slope area, Bergen Street. Black Blast with a Vance & Hines pipe, drop bars, no windscreen, custom red and black seat, red wheels, #3 on a number plate on the rear bodywork, New York plates.
