yep, it will be part of my order with American Sport Bike, along with the crank gear holder, oil pump gasket, cam seal and cam cover gasket. |

Maybe a complete Blast gasket set would be in order, but otherwise, sounds like a solid plan. EZ |

I have a top end kit for a great $20 (with shipping) ebay score, but i might compare prices and see if i should get a complete motor kit. I am assuming the kit listed below will work and I will have an extra top end gasket set. 16034 Kit,Full Engine, 03-06 XB Cometic - $144.95 |

Nice - Cometic is a better gasket set than stock. EZ |

I was looking at my pics and if i am remembering correctly there is a difference in the cam covers, the 02 has only the casting for the blast cams (2 cams+ crank) while the 06 has casting for the XB cams (4 cams + crank). |

Mine was leaking so I too tried the new one from the Hardly shop and it wouldn't seal. Ended up using the old one but just cleaning it real good and tightening it up just a bit more. I think there is a different cover without the grooves on the mating surface that works better for the new gasket. |

My bad - cool to know, that means an 03 to 05 cam cover from an XB could be used - nice cross reference there. EZ |

I will try and have the part # checked to verify. just in case there is a difference in the machining of the crank sensor area. |

Hey guys, looks like I'm getting no compression on my bike and have to order a piston kit & gaskets. I called the local dealer and got a quote for a Piston Kit > $261 & Gasket Kit > $100. Anyone know any websites where I could get some parts cheaper? Thanks |

Test rode an xb12stt today. Holy shiz! New '07, full warranty, out the door for $7000. I'm seriously considering it. Seriously. Do you guys think that's a good deal? I'll be keeping the Blast of course. They asked if I wanted to trade it in but I was like "hey, take it easy." |

absolutely you should...sort of? white or orange? doesn't matter, i guess - you can always customize it. this is the bike with the funny looking seat and the side hard cases, right? |

Orange airbox cover, white flyscreen and number plates, single seat. I think the "side hard cases" you're thinking of are the number plates. I think the bike looks better without them. Can't stop thinking about that test ride! |

Jump on it! Its doubtful you'll ever see many TT's around and its one of the best looking XB's ever made (imho). |

TnThumper, you sir are my hero. Thanks for your service, I am glad you are safe and home. Your SAW is way cool, you could probably buy a new Blast for what that costs, the coolest firearm I ever used was an HK MP5 in 10mm, an FBI SWAT tool. It shot 2 round bursts, one on center of mass and the other 12" higher. |

Swampy, Thanks. My Other assigned weapon was M16 with M203. I asked if I could mount the 203 on the SAW and ditch the M16. They thought I was nuts. And the SAW with collapsable stock and short barrel is awesome. Even better when they let us mount the ACOGs on then. AND MP5's are sweet pieces of hardware. John |

'member me? My Blast only did a couple thousand miles last year. It sat for 4 months without being started or anything. No battery charger/tender, either. I just kicked it on, and it started right up. That's 9 years on my original battery! Pretty cool, huh? |

Reuel, 9 years? wow I am only on 5 with mine but so far so good as long as i keep the terminals cleaned good during services. |

Terminals are supposed to be cleaned? Haven't had to do even that. Was riding down 495 Friday night, and noticed my blinkers stopped working. I pulled over and found that the only light I had was the headlight! I was worried that my prototype signal controller quit on me. I checked fuses, and found one blown. Replaced it, and all is well again. Now I'm trying to figure out why the fuse blew, since I'm using less power for the signals. I'm contemplating running a separate fused wire... |

I just clean mine when I disconnect for services. Just a preventative thing I like to do. |

I know it's a good deal. But I just bought the Blast last summer and $7k is still a good chunk of change to drop. But damn I can't get that test ride out of my head. |

yes, but that andy wang fellow traded in 2006 buell blast within 6 calendar months for a yamaha. AND i heard he got a bmw over the winter. of course you don't "need" the bike just like how women don't "need" 20 pairs of shoes. when you consider that 7K out the door, is HD financial giving you a pretty good financing deal, or can you get something better through your teacher's credit union? sorry if i am assuming that you won't be able to or want to pay it all at once. also, will you be willing to drop extra money for the insurance? not sure about you, but in chicago, it would be about 1K a year with 100/300/50K splits on bodily injury and property damage, 100/300 on uninsured, 1K medical payments (for you or family), TLP, and 500 deductible on comprehensive and collision, roadside assistance included, and up to 3K coverage for accessories through progressive. When I had the blast, the entire cost for the exact same coverage was about 435 bucks per year. |

Wait EZ, I don't get it - why does he need an ECM? Can't he just rejet? Kidding, kidding. I actually read some thread awhile back (not sure which board it was) about a guy wanting to get the xb12scg, and he said, "oh yeah, when I get it the first thing I'm going to do is put a new exhaust on it and rejet..." |

The PO of my (Newish) '99 X1 told me it ran rough because the Carb' needed cleaning! It did need a new throttle body + injectors though. Chris C |
