Hi all, I have Buell Blast 2005 and Speedometer is keep showing d01CLR code, how can I reset it? If I turn the bike ignition from OFF to ON the speedometer will go through self diagnostic from d01CLR to d10CLR and PPU then back to d01CLR. It is happening every time when I turn the bike on. All I want see is actual mileage on the speedometer. Thank you, in advance for your advice. |

Is your reset button shorted out? I get that if I push the reset button before it shows the mileage. |

If I push the reset button, then codes stop rolling. When I let go the reset button, it starts again. |

The only way you get dXX codes is in diagnostic mode. You have to turn the ign switch from off to on while holding the reset button. If you press the reset button again it will go to the next test. if you hold it in for 5 seconds all codes will be erased. You exit diagnostic mode by switching ign off then on. If you are not holding the reset button while you turn it on, you most likely have a bad reset switch, and should replace it. The fact that it goes through each of the codes without the extra push tells me the switch is bad. Unfortunately the only way to test it is to cut the wires. I am not sure a volt meter will help. I am not sure there is supposed to be current only when the button is pressed, or whether the current is broken by the press. Either way to replace it you have to cut the wires and replace the switch. Cut them and see if you still get the code, if not, it is your switch and you will replace it. If you still get the diagnostic mode, it is something else. (info from 05' service manual page 7-60) (Message edited by jimrich on August 29, 2007) |

I am not holding the reset button while turning it on. I will cut off the wire for reset switch as you suggested. Thanks! Does anyone know, where can I get new/used working “Buell Blast Reset switch”? |

I was going to cut off the wire for reset button and noticed that one of the wires was pinched between speedometer and handle bar. I unscrew the speedometer fixed the wire and wowed it worked. Thanks for the advice. |

Jimrich Swing by Minnesota on your way and I'll ride with ya. Can't be too far out of your way, looks like it's only about an inch or two.
Forget about the Iron Butt's saddleSore or the bunburner.. you may as well head east first, touch the Atlantic then go west. You'll get the big daddy of the IBA.. the Coast-to-coast!! |

And away we go! Lets skip North Dakota though and run through South Dakota / Sturgis... It's really freaky to go there when it's not bike week. The leather shops, tattoo parlors, and bars turn back into hair salons with gray haired old ladies, bakeries, shops etc. Are we getting off topic? |
