haha - i know the south floridians don't understand, but what a change it's been to go from winter to spring in literally one day. yesterday when i left for work it was in the 30's. when i got out it was in the 60's. today i'm just wearing my spring gortex jacket and it's plenty warm enough. |

Spring in Chicago: Birds sing, snow melts, salt washes away, and the entire winter's production of dog poo magically appears. |

anybody have problems with v&h exhaust? Mine is leaking at the pipe to can connection. I might try to insert the pipe into the can further but i think i might have to remove lower pipe mount to do so. I'm still trying to fine tune my bike and its running pretty good except when I get to almost full throttle, then it starts to miss. ??could that be related to exhaust leak?? Thanks for any input |

Dmac: If the pipe is leaking at the can then its most likely due to poor installation. It wont cause running problems other than the possibility of backfires through the exhaust. You can try repositioning the clamp a 1/4 turn or more and at a better sealing point. It may leak slightly no matter what you do-but if it doesnt backfire and isnt noisy, then dont worry. As far as the full throttle missing, it occurred to me that you may be hitting the rev limiter. First gear hits redline at 32-35mph, I cant remember what the other gears are other than 4th is at 80mph. Some faulty ignition modules will hit redline early causing a miss too. FWIW: If you're used to multi cylinder bikes the Blast hits redline seemingly early because you're only hearing one exhaust note per revolution, not 2 or 3 or 4 etc. |

Thanks for the response Gearheaderiko. I was beginning to think something like a rev limiter was my problem, but because I never really rode the bike before doing mods I was unsure. I did some repositioning of the exhaust and it helped - very slight leak now. Is there an option to buy a better can that will go on the v&h pipe? (less noise / more performance?) I also just picked up a 46 and a 180 to try-one at a time. Right now it has 48/175. |

PS Last bike was a kz 650 cafe and before that a sportster 900. It takes a while to get to know any bike. The Blast is no exception. I'm looking forward to this summer - I expect to have alot of fun on this bike. thanks again for all your help |

I know if you check on Google our posts show, so just to prove a point, I am sitting im my massage chair, the love of my life is sitting in my lap, my friends are seranading me with some favorite music, I am drinking beer, and I am silly happy. MSU is playing on the big screen, (Basement Bobbys choice), we ate a pork loin cooked on the grill by Basement Bobby, I cooked a chicken on the rotissirie and a cold one is on the table beside me.....Does it get better than that? |

I got a stupid question because I obviously wasn't paying enough attention when I was taking it apart. On the front caliper does that little bent metal clippy thingy go on the front of the caliper where the brake shoes rest on the edge, or does it go on the back where the pin goes through and hold the shoes from falling. I've looked in the parts manual and the service manual and am just not seeing it. Thank You Agian |

Nevermind that last question I figured it out, Also found what might be causing the top end rattle. Timing was way out and plug was white so I readjusted the timing put in a 48 jet. So far so good. I guess we will see. |

Probably racing time brackets, not top speeds - lol - the Blasts do very well in Bracket consistency. I'm pretty sure they have a lock on the 500cc class - lol - for consistency - It just hits me funny that there even is that type of racing - they held BattleTrax's like that as well - always left me confused, as I was always trying to improve my time - lol EZ |

DMac: The D & D muffler is a good replacement as well as a Supertrapp. The D & D is $200, I've never found a good price on the Supertrapp. Or just about any Harley short muffler will 'work'. Thats Harley stock or replacement, not 'universal fit' mufflers. |
