Those of you who've rerouted your PCV to NOT blow into the carb: Where did you route it? Where/how does it terminate? Where did you tether it? What plugs the hole in the airbox? Anything else I should know? Photos might be good... I might take them and post if nobody has done so. I'm planning this as a late winter/early spring project when my garage warms up to a point where plastic is not brittle. Thanks in advance. ______________________ Firing order: 1 |

Those of you who've rerouted your PCV to NOT blow into the carb: Where did you route it? -Back out where it comes in, then to breather filter and out the back of the bike by swing-arm. Play around with it, you'll find a setup you like but you won't know till you try. Where/how does it terminate? -Read above Where did you tether it? -To the bracket where the cover/fin on the left side of the box mounts What plugs the hole in the airbox? -Duct tape? I'm not sure, I removed my airbox (breathes betta!) Anything else I should know? -Have fun? Photos might be good... I might take them and post if nobody has done so. -I HAVE PHOTOS!! I'm at work but I will attempt to find them when I get home! I'm planning this as a late winter/early spring project when my garage warms up to a point where plastic is not brittle. -Meh, grab a sunflower and you'll be plenty warm (for those of you who dont know what a sunflower is, move somewhere colder!!) Thanks in advance. -Glad I could help! (even though I doubt I did...I like wasting time at work!) |

I put the breather filter under the seat, to keep it out of puddle spray, rain, etc. It makes things very cramped in there. I plugged the hole with a rubber stopper that I bought at my local hardware store. |

Wow, thanks KustomK! I'll look forward to the photos. I've had to complete enough projects under the sunflower to know I'd rather avoid it. Spring will be here soon enough, and there are always plenty of days where the weather is warm, but the roads are salty and sandy. -For now I'm just collecting info about tumbling composters (other Springtime proj) and doing some wood-turning projects. Thanks again!! ______________________ Firing order: 1 |

I'm a new blast owner and considering doing intake, exhaust & re-jet mods. Will this effect the reliability of my bike? Thanks. Excellent website! |

The standard Stage 1 stuff that you mentioned will not adversely effect reliability at all. You'll feel the difference - Makes a Blast a blast. |

"Makes a Blast a blast." LoL, nice Milt. As he said D, no it won't really affect much of anything exept your level of hooliganism Dean, all of my Blast pics were on my portable hdd which I found nicely pinned between the reclining mechanisms of my couch (awesome). It didnt come up when I plugged it into my laptop, but I am hoping that I can run a GetDataBack on it to retrieve my pictures (the benefits of a technical computer job, oh joy). I will keep you updated on the status of them. ALSO!! I totally forgot that I re-routed the breather BEFORE I totally removed my airbox, so I should have pics of that!! If not, I will run out to the garage tonight to snap a few of the current setup and get them posted. |

Breather re-route procedure with pic's, from BCRider, an excellent source of some basic Blast mods: http://www.bcrider.com/buell.html#BuellBlast Also other procedures in there, like re-jetting. Good stuff. |

Dangnabbit Fahren, I love that site and used the SWEET yellow custom Blast on there as inspiration for my project, but I totally forgot about the tech help! The only reason I went there was to stare and drool LOL |

Awf_hand, I had a heck of a time finding suitable washers for shimming the carb needle. I bought a pack at a hobby store and have about half a gazillion left over. I'll gladly put a few in an envelope and mail 'em to you if you want. (Message edited by milt on December 17, 2009) |

Thanks for the link Fahren. In looking at their method of rerouting, I do have a question: They've turned the PCV around and ran a hose through a hole in the frame. Don't the engine vibes end up wrecking either the PCV base seal or the hose where it goes through the frame?? It seems to me that there should be a longer segment of hose left to act as a 'flex span' to prevent either of the above from occuring and requiring constant repairs. Am I all wet or not?? ______________________ Firing order: 1 |

I had no functional problem with BCRider's setup. However, if I did it again, I'd probably route it someplace else. It's already pretty crowded under the seat. |

SWEET yellow custom Blast Indeed! One of the prettiest Blasts I've seen. Someone made some really good aesthetic decisions on that one. |

Thanks for the input guys.I just bought my blast two weeks ago (07 white) and I live in michigan, so I got alot of time to do some work to it before spring. I didn't think the mods I was planning to do would effect reliability but I figured this was the place to ask. Good thing cause I'm pretty much incapable of leaving anything stock! |

Milt it is probably an 09. It would be nice if the dealer used something other than a cell phone to take pictures of products they are selling. |

Was yellow available in '09? I haven't seen a yellow thumper (except mine) in a long time. I like the label you chose - "cube manual" ! (Message edited by milt on December 18, 2009) |

Has anyone tried the superboot availible on ebay? I'm going to get a custom intake and I saw a couple that looked good and one is availible that comes with the boot. Anyone tried it? I ordered V & H pipe, should be here in a day or two. What jets should I use with pipe & intake - 45/175 or 48/175? |
