after taking the head and cyl off, I did find one small nick on the exhaust valve.however I did a compression check on my other bike and it came out the same (sportster) I'm thinking I have a bad gage. The blast starts right up and sounds good I just did not have time to take it for a ride. |

Sycho, Where did you get your intake and elbow from. It's tight looking and looks like you don't hit it with your knee like some of the others. |

The intake is from Dan Whaley aka THUMPE on the forums here. The guy fabricates some cool sh*t for the Blasts. |

Will the Iron Boot work with the standard airbox? |

Should work just fine. The actual rubber boot is the same, just the clamping mechanism is much improved. I've got about 4k miles on mine and have had no problems. |

Could you also discuss the PCV breather unit that you have on there?? _______________________ Firing order: 1 |

Awf_hand, the PCV unit is from Dan as well. I can't really explain how this stuff works, I just buy it and put it on cuz it looks better and performs better than stock lol. I think it'd be best if Thumpe were to explain his stuff instead. |

The PVC is Positive Crankcase Ventilation the constant recirculation of air through the crankcase helps remove moisture which otherwise would cause sludge to form which is that nasty stuff that come's out of the pvc drain when you clean it that would be in your oil without this system. Thus the PCV valve extends the life of the oil and engine. The PCV system is one of the oldest emission control devices but we are being bad with the catch can instead of burning it we are letting it in the air so the smoke you will see coming out of this system is really moisture after a good hard run. lol An the filter just keeps the dirt out of the system plus help retain some of the oil out of that moisture passing thru it so were not being totally bad....Dan (Message edited by Thump-e on November 11, 2009) |

Flat track meets chopper, bobber in a simplistic package. Good looking line of bikes. It sounds like they are scrambling not to find a motor to use and asking for comments on the new design with a jap motor. Believe it or not.... most comments favor the look of the air cooled Buell motor. |

Sorry, should have done a search first. I guess these motorcycles are old news here. |

Damn this thing was fast. Saw it run at Willow Springs today. The exhaust runs up under the tail. Looks really cool, and would love to have this on the street. Gearheaderiko will have to let you know who was running this cuz I forgot his name. |

Thats Ernie Snair's XBlast and the picture belies how factory the bike really looks 'in person'. He's also built a tuberBlast (which is pictured elsewhere here). A salesman at Glendale Buell/HD (a Badweb sponsor) he's the epitome of the Buell spirit and an ardent promoter of Blast racing. |

I had meant to ask Ernie why he didnt use the EFI, but I didnt get the chance because often he's a one man hospitality tent for Glendale Buell as well as prepping his and other bikes to race. My guess would be he didnt have the parts or didnt want to butcher an intact system. If I remember correctly this bike was built out of spare parts and he probably didnt have an extra twin engine, complete with EFI to modify. |
