Looking for Rearsets:

problem is im too poor to part with the $500 that they want for the crossroads ones new at American Sport Bike. and the Patterns and other cheap options really scare me when I look at the instructions. Anyone with any rear-sets used? My wife will let me have some money if i beg enough.

Edward4130: They really arent that hard to make if you take it piecemeal and you can get the plates mounted up without pulling off the Y-frames. Once the plates are cut and drilled, the rest is easy and I'm sure we can take it step by step in the rearsets section (if you want). I do have the aluminum to make a bunch of plates up and if I get to it I will make extras, but... that may not be for a while.

Watch e-bay for used rearsets as well as the classifieds on Badweb. They do come up once in a while.

I know I could find this out if I did some searching, but I am at work and busy for once LoL. Does anyone have, or has anyone had the T-Rex stands? One is for sale near me and I was wondering if it was a good price or what they're like. I remember seeing Pitbull stands on here, but cant recall one of these. Thanks guys!

T-Rex lists them on e-bay and they are fairly reasonably priced, so $50 might be close to new and there are cheaper, new, stands available.

Anyone got a recomendation on where to find tank decals? I accidentally removed mine a while ago by power washer, liked how she looked, and kept her that way. Now that Ive tossed the Firebolt front and rear plastics on her (got the tail on last week, front fairing tonight...pics comin tomorrow as its too dark now) I'm thinkin shes looks kinda nekkie. All I'm finding are the "oval" stickers, hoping to find the stock version somewheres, old or new school, doesn't matter to me.

Plus, ordering t rex stands new, you can talk to them and get the right fittings to be right for your bike, not just some other sportbike. I'd contact them by phone and then compare with the used rear-only stand. People like the t-rex overall, and they are a lot cheaper than the pit bull.}

I got the bike today. It does sound like there is no compression. I can't work on it until after my brother puts his ninja 500 back together on Monday. I think it will be a nice winter project.

Erik, Chris, thanks for the advice/info! I'll give them a call later today if I have time. It seems like people have gotten even more computer-inept over the past month. My average workload has nearly doubled LoL, and everyone here knows how that goes.

I don't know where to put this so I will let the mod do it for me.

I need some advice about my Blast. As you may have read on another thread, I dropped my bike going around a corner a few months ago. Well I got the bike back in running shape and been riding it all over the place.

Anyway so while I am riding it seems to me like I have to pull the handlebar to the right of center to go straight, or that it's just positioned that way, I don't really have to pull it and I can ride with no hands on the bars in a straight line. I think this must be me imagining things.

Well then one day I was looking at what would it take to take the front fender off because I am planning to paint the bike and I notice that the wheel is not center on the fender, it is off to the left which makes sense with the handlebars going to the right a bit to make the correction. I am putting up this pic to show:

Front fender

The only damage I had on the bike back then was the left turn signal, shifter peg, foot peg, fly screen, bezel on headlight.

Fly screen, bezel

Shifter, foot peg...

I see no damage or oil leaking from the forks, not even a scratch!

Forks front...

Forks...

Anyone know what gives?

Thanks

Sly

have you tried freeing them up - one at a time - in the tree, then retorqueing to spec. could be twisted in the tree - has happened that way before, if yes and no change, then you have a bent fork.

Hi Ez,
Thanks for your reply. I have not done anything. I assume you mean the 2 bolts right below the bezel of the headlight? Say from looking straight into the headlight, freeing the right and then the left? Anyone know the torque spec on that? I don't have a service manual yet.

Sly.

If you find a place to get an inch pound torque wrench of the internet let me know, I have been to every hardware/auto parts/sears/napa/home improvement store near me looking for one, NO luck. Couldn't find the "click" type of the internet either, that's the kind I want.

Just throwing this out there... are the bars bent?
Might only be a little bit but you'd notice when riding.

sears has a in/lb torque wrench. some part of the packaging was mislabeled though. I think the cardboard read ft/lb but you could see the wrench was in in/lb
