So now the only way to step into the American-built motorcycle market is to spend about $9,000 on a bike that performs on par with a $7,000 import. Thanks EB. Next time I'm shopping for a $5k toy, I'll remember your disdain for me and my tight budget. I hope the economy treats you and your 200 employees well. Your "exclusive club" for "sport riders" can remain just that. _____________________ Firing order: 1 (for now) |

I just posted my 2 cents on the facebook page. I'll buy japanese next time, i don't care what people say. I've heard those bikes don't have the stupid rev limiter like Buells anyways. SV650 looks kinda cool anyways. I think I'll give one a test ride next spring. |

Remember "that kid" in school that everybody picked on, mocked, poked fun at and he was so dumb he just thought he had a lot of friends? Then one day he finds out the truth. I feel like "that kid". Could you see the shame and tears on Eriks face? Perhaps if you'd updated the Blast once or twice, you wouldnt feel that way. The Ninja 250 is not only a 'beginners' bike, but it now has its own RACE CLASS and people do quite well on it. WOW, a beginners bike that is also a sportbike. What a concept. Boy, I sure cant wait to go racing next month! I'll have to change the name of the team to "Kick Me Racing". I'll even have t-shirts made up for all who show up! Guaranteed you'll see an a$$ kicking at the track (too bad it will be your own). I've never had anyone say to me "I thought Buell built sportbikes?" Its always been "wow, you own a Buell. How much did it cost? How fast is it?" I've never run across anyone who didnt think that Buell built sportbikes. When the guy who put his name on the bike mocks you for riding one, wow, who can feel good about that. I was going to write "you can have my Blast when you pull my cold, dead, fingers from around the handlebars". I think now I'm just going to drag it out to curb in the middle of the night and hope someone steals it I'm still not turning Japanese though (but I might change my name). Oh, I'm sure we'll all laugh about this one day, hopefully soon.......Maybe we're all now Harley riders! |

Erik O, I feel you man. I feel like I went on this long ride, went to the restroom, came out, and everyone's gone. WTF. |

HEY, I just went on the Harley website and searched through the Sportsters and THERE WAS THE BLAST. Just kidding! The 'Red Headed Stepchild' is still quietly locked in the basement (along with my pride). |

F*CK Erik Buell. He enjoyed crushing that BLAST. It was like he was denouncing his nerdy little brother in front of the jocks at school. I was going to buy an XB9 too. Not now, Ducati Monster 695 here I come. They don't call me GARLIC sauce for nothin. (Message edited by garlic_sauce on July 25, 2009) |

Erik - I feel exactly the same way. Even though I bought the ST, I still identify with the little Blast. My wife loves her Blast, and she used to say she was inspired by Erik Buell. She really enjoyed his presentation in the confrence room a few years ago at homecoming I showed her that video - and she was truly hurt. I believe "what a jerk" was her exact phrase. Trust me, strong words coming form her. |

Assuming that Erik is not just baiting us and about to announce the new 612cc or 450cc thumper dual-sport or something, I'm really disappointed. Today I sold my Moto Guzzi Nevada to a chap who flew from Minnesota to Seattle to ride it back home over the next week. He is very excited about the mid-sized bike with enough power to do the job and not too heavy. So I'm in the market for another motorcycle and what does Buell have for this 58-year old who used to ride a Blast and an XB9S? Nothing. I was hoping for an upgraded Blast. I am at a stage where I need a lighter bike with "friendly" manners. But perhaps I no longer fit the Buell profile. I can't stand the Sportsters so it looks like I'll be heading elsewhere for my next ride. Too damn bad. Erik, if you've got something in the works don't delay it or you'll lose potential buyers.} |

Does any one know what size Cotterpin is used on the Blast front foot pegs? thanks, Ira |

One that fits? Its not a critical part, so the size doesnt have to be perfect. Why cant you take the pin with you to get the right cotter pin? In a pinch a large paperclip will work as will a piece of wire. It just has to keep the pin from falling out, there isnt any pressure on it. |

Erick Buell said in the video he wanted to get back to building true American Sport Bikes. The 1125r has a Helicon engines Rotax-built in Austria, frame is Italian made and wheels made in china. When I asked why Buell took American Motorcycles off the Gas Tank/Air Box cover I was told the bikes were not truly American anymore because of outsourcing parts. Erick Buell said in the video he wanted to get back to building true American Sport Bikes. NOW I'm confused. |

I wander if this is a marketing ploy like when a rap star released a New Album he has to commit a Felony First. I think the way Erick Buell Trashed the Blast like that really SUCKS!
In a Down Economy choosing to only Sale High Dollar Products could be a Company Killer. Just my thoughts on it only. |

Garlic, I like this bike very much, the way it rides, weight, riding position and the way it handles in the turns although it needs more power (power is only a matter of money how much do you want to spend) NHRS Big Bore Kit could solve that. I hope I can still buy parts for it in the future. Thanks for the comments (Message edited by patches on July 26, 2009) |

I am wondering how much longer the XB9 will be around. Why? It uses the 984cc motor, the same motor they took half of for the Blast. The factory that produces this motor used to build 984cc motors for the Sportster but now HD only makes 883 and 1200 Sportsters. Will the occasional XB9 that rolls off the assembly line be enough to keep the 984cc factory up and running? I think not. I think they will close it. Then Buell will only make 1200cc bikes. What a joke. I think that Erik Buell has forgotten what motorcycling is all about. Its not about riding 140mph on the way to work. Only a handfull of people will buy Buells now. They are going after a very small market. |

Did we all just go through an intervention? I'm filled with remorse and regret and feel as if I've dragged others down with me during my Blast obsession. Do I need rehab now, therapy? Therapy, thats it! I'm going out for some 'throttle therapy' on my (insert non Buell motorcycle here).

PS Since we've now been officially disowned, do we need to change the name of this forum for the bikes formally known as Buell? Blasters anonymous? Ottoman Empire? P3 underground? |

"Do I need rehab now, therapy?" Do you think we need BBA therapy? "Buell Blast Anonymous" meetings kinda like AA meetings. |

I'm writing a letter to the following person: Mark-Hans Richer (Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Motor Company) Harley-Davidson, Inc. 3700 W Juneau Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53208 Why this person? Buell is not an independent company, they are a wholly owned subsidiary of HD. Buell motorcycle sales affect HD stock prices. A person with this job title ought to know how many people are angry and considering never buying a Buell again. If anyone has any comments that I should put in this letter please let me know. I could use some help in writing it. |

Just relax. Enjoy the humor in it. Knowing what you know about BMC, you think he would really do that? It is marketing, I'm sure something is about to come out. The Blast needed a re-work anyway. |
