They've eliminated their longest production-run bike in a way that is damaging (resale value?) and insulting to current owners. Thanks Erik. Now get your ass to work winning me back. I'll be waiting and watching. I wanted a simple, lightweight street single and you've made restoring an Ascot FT look that much more appealing. _________________________ Firing order: 1 (Message edited by Awf_Hand on July 24, 2009) |

Bah. Humbug. I can't afford a new bike, so I'm stuck with the end table. It's like having (favorite sexy movie star here) standing in scanties mere feet away, but still out of reach. But I'm not bitter! |

NEW YORK, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard & Poor's, the world's leading index provider, announced today that for fiscal year 2008, S&P 500 companies with full reporting information posted 47.9% of their sales from outside of the United States versus 45.8% in 2007 and 43.6% in 2006. The data is derived from the 253 companies within the S&P 500 that have full reporting information. "Despite the global recession's impact on local markets, companies are continuing to generate more and more sales from outside of the United States," says Howard Silverblatt, Senior Index Analyst at Standard & Poor's and author of the report. "This trend is expected to continue as an increasing number of U.S. companies continue to shift labor, capital, and resources to foreign countries, where a growing worldwide middle-class is emerging." Did the Blast ever qualified to be sold in Foreign countries. (something about EU Regulations I think) Maybe they just don't care anymore. Overseas is where the Money seems to be. |

Was riding on a quick errand the other day and my exhaust sounded funny. Stopped to take a look and I only had one bolt holding my exhaust on to the header. Get home and check to see if I should order two. Uh-oh spagetti O's...bolt sheered off!!! Doh! I love riding my Blast but I won't be able to keep it once the warranty runs out. I DO need a new ottoman though..... (just venting) (Message edited by thump on July 24, 2009) |

I'd bet the new bike will NOT be a replacement for the Blast, and it will NOT be a beginner bike. I'd bet 800 class watercooled sportbike. |

They didn't just kill it, they stabbed in in the back, rolled it over, and shit on its face. |

It comes down to one of two possibilities. A. The waterheads running the new ad campaign are running a batch on us all, and there will be a new bike as yet unannounced. And actually believing the cubed blast bullschitte (along with EB himself pushing the button) will instill an overpower desire to replace our "coffee tables" with more Buells. B. It's a case of piss on you, we don't want or need you folks to feel good about Buell so you will move "up" to one of the other bikes that we offer when the time comes. I guess the droves of people camping out overnight at the local dealerships to fight hand to hand over the next available Buell with "Bold new Graphics" is forcing Buell to adopt "ruthless marketing". Hell the interstate near my house is backed up 20 miles by people trying to get to the dealership just to get a glimpse at a Buell. |

Go to the Blast page on the buell site, and watch the video with Erik in it. Wow, is all I can say. I don't think I have ever been quite so insulted. They could have found a much better way to say, "Hey, this isn't us, we aren't doing it anymore". |

I like the fact that Buell is moving in a new direction, and its about time they were more competitive in the sportbike world but this was uncalled for. They should have just discontinued it, period. |

I just went out to my Moms House to fix her Computer (new spy-ware) and showed her the 2010 Blast videos. Before I could say anything she said the man in the Video was on Crack. |

Talk about throwing your bread and butter out with the bath water - Their are more Blasts than all the rest of the Buells together, surely this is some kind of duping campaign, still leaves a bad taste in my mouth though, and does he really think that the Faithful Blastards who got maligned would wait a year, for a replacement - I don't think so. So if this is taken seriously, Erik Buell would be kicking to the curb 1/4 of of his potential market, would any business man in his right mind do that? I will be shocked if there is not a replacement, at the same time, if there isn't, I'll really have to reconsider the next brand I purchase. I really don't like the Ruthless Engineering tone - some how the rider gets lost in that interpretation. I didn't buy Buell on its ability to win, but on the ability of having reliable, easy to maintain fun riding the twisties and back roads, and do commuting chores. EZ |

GEEBUS!!! I'm out for a little while and the whole thumpin' world comes to a screeching halt! "Nothin's over till we say it's over! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!! HELL NO!!! AND IT AINT OVER NOW!!!" That said, I'm glad I got my new Jardine when I did! Pics to follow... I also re-jetted and changed the engine oil but now engine won't stay running, just blows black smoke out the new pipe while cranking and acts like it wants to fire... what do you think? Carb float knocked out of whack? (I was very careful.) I'm not turning MY Blast into a Scion XB anytime in the near future, in fact as soon as I figure out what's going on with mine I plan on Blasting long into the future! WHO'S WITH ME!!??? |
