Someone mention a Yamaha RD 350? 2-stroke, 2 cylinder, liquid cooled buzz bomb from hell! Once upon a time, in a land far, far away ( the UK )I raced them. fast, efficient, scary in the turns, they went like hell and then some. At the time my road bike was an RD 250E. Nowhere near the power of the RD350 ( they were known in the UK as LC's, due to their cooling system emanating from Lynx, Lynx Cooling, hence LC. ) Pile one of those around the old, unimproved Donnington circuit, Mallory or even Brands Hatch and you get the idea that just hanging on and going with the rush through the gears is actually the best way to pilot the bike! We never really steered them in any realistic way, we just pointed them in the general direction of "ahead", twisted the right wrist, cogged frantically with minimal clutch involvement and hung on for dear life. Great fun. definitely for the YTS crowd. I couldn't ever see me getting anywhere near those lap times now but, Oh! what a way to spend a weekend. 30 years ago but what great memories. Chris C |

Whatever you want, though defamation of Buell would be unwise and not keeping with Badweb policy. |

The RD350 I knew of was still air cooled. A good friend was into 2 strokes and also had an H2 widowmaker (this was years ago). I never owned one (shocker). (Message edited by Gearheaderiko on June 20, 2009) |

Heck no - I like buell, however, MV Agusta was talking of producing a single just before their acquisition by HD, and that was a hot looking bike, ultra light and had all the goodies - this bike would have beat all the other street singles out there - I wonder if HD would allow this to come to pass? Probably not, though Europe was wanting it. Isn't the other singles out there the KTM, BMW, Aprilla - all supermoto duellies - the Morini the only other street single but awesomely pricey as well. I think an updated Blast could sell well in Europe where gas prices really soar! The Blast would be a bargain compared to living with those other bikes. Pricey maintenance and price tags. I can't wait for Buell to throw the Blast to the curb - the bread and butter bike - and replace it with what? If no replacement, it will show one of 3 things - either Buell is no longer at the helm of Buell, that the company feels they can survive without that bread and butter commodity - perhaps they have a twin replacement waiting in the wings or water cooled single or Rotax, or that the company is on the down and consolidating to shut down. If you read Court's book, then you know how important the Blast was for both HD and Buell, to not replace or update such a successful platform to me would only show arrogance - can they afford that? I watched an episode of "twist the throttle" where they covered the history of MV AUGUSTA. I think for a fully faired race/street bike the F4 is pretty dope (and i don't even like fully faired bikes). They said that the designer Massimo Tamburini, designs every part to be beautiful to the eye. Even the internal parts that the rider/owner will most likely never see, unless he's a MV AUGUSTA tech. LOL. MSRP: $42,695. Pretty cool show anyway, I'm waiting for them to cover BUELL. Hey here's a thought, a BLAST with a single sided swing arm... would a single sided swingarm be heavier our lighter than stock? I would bet heavier because they're solid. Yeah, I saw one AT A TRACK DAY in black and gold. That bike is rolling art. It was nice to someone actually using it for its intended purpose. (Not like the oft heard quote from some Buell riders who wont take theirs on the track, but bought some 'other' throwaway bike for that |

Chris...I had many a fun Sunday on RD/RZ 350's...those things were so fun to wheelie it was hard to keep the front end on the ground...wish I could stumble across a nice one today...I wouldn't even mind the little oil droplets on the back of my jacket after a fun ride |

You obviously had a "leaky one". I never experienced that myself. However, it was the UK. Maybe the temp' difference is real? I weighed 185 Lbs and stand 6ft 1in. I have a VERY knee out, lean forward riding style so keeping the front on the ground was not too difficult. Fast and fun and I was young and dumb! Fun bikes to ride! I haven't seen any up for sale in the USA and all the originals in the UK seem to have succumbed to the salt and the road conditions. It's actually quite sad 'cause for a 350cc "pocket rocket" they were great fun. Chris C |

it has been obviously in a crash (notice that there is not visor either?!) and they are asking $75!!! un-freaking-believeable side note: I was selling an older shoei helmet a few months back, the thing was in pristine condition but the manufactured date was 1994 so even if it was a shoei, I was not gonna sell a 15 yrs old helmet for much, it went for like $10 plus shipping and I was fine with that. anyways, after debating sending them a message, I did send them one : hi, I dont mean to be rude or anything but this is obvisouly a helmet that has been in an accident, even if it wasn't a major crash, helmets are made to sustain ONE (as in 1) drop/accident, then they need to be discarded otherwise they are not safe at all. Shoei are expensive but you really should not be selling it considering the condition its in. anyways, just my 2cents wonder if they are going to reply ??!!! LOL |

LOL, I bet not. It's unbelievable what people will do for money. That Is just so F_ _ _KED. That's like the biggest rule about helmets: DON'T WEAR OR BUY A DAMAGED HELMET. Hopefully nobody buys it. |

Maybe the helmet didn't protect his head as well as it should have because you would have to be damaged to list something like that! Luckily it ended with 0 bids. (Message edited by aleutian1 on July 02, 2009) |
