Would there be any benefit in upgrading cams only? |

Yes. I should mention that an upgrade plan should be well thought out. It will save you time and money in the long run. (Message edited by gearheaderiko on July 14, 2009) |

Upgrading to any cam, besides the B50/Pro-series, you must upgrade head springs, guides and seals as well. EZ |

I suspect my cylinder may be beyond recovery. I'm also being told that the cost difference between shipping my head out, repairing it,shipping it back or buying an entirely new head is only about 30.00. So buying an XB head may not be so big an issue. Finding used parts up here may not be an easy task. There are not that many Buells around. I was at an event recently where there were over 700 bikes participating, and my bike represented 50% of the Buells. |

Any one know if the ignition key switch on a firebolt and a blast are the same. I know the electrical portion is different but the mechanical portion looks the same. Any info would be great. |

Keys are the same and they may share like internals, but the switch body is different. |

I've gotten both of my XB heads from the Badweb classifieds and I've seen heads listed there and on ebay. Cylinders for Blast, XB and Sportster are interchangeable, but look different. |

My 2005 Blast with 12,000 miles is getting very poor mpg. I have been getting about 35 mpg on the freeway and about 40 mpg in town. Yes I am getting worse mileage on freeway than in town. Any thoughts on what may be wrong? Thanks. |

Dirty air filter, old plug?, partially clogged exhaust? What is performance like otherwise? EZ |

Concur! Check the air filter and spark plug first. Oh, and you dont still have the EPA charcoal canister hooked up, right? |

It wont really hurt performance. What it will do is shut your bike down, either on the highway, around town or it just wont start. Might never happen, odds are it will. Its only there to stop evaporating fuel from entering the atmosphere and its does nothing for the engine performance. What ends up happening from overfilling the tank or having a full tank on a hot day, is that the canister fills up with fuel. Since both the fuel tank and carb are connected to it, it blocks the fuel tank vent (causing shutdown) and lets fuel into a carb port that is only intended for air. A double wammy! Running the bike should purge the canister, but with those two working against you, its impossible. Its a very, very, easy fix or bypass and if you have a problem with your bike, we cant help you unless this is disconnected. The twins can have the same problem, but that extra cylinder helps out with the running. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/76349.html |

Ezblast, My Blast seems to be running fine aside from the poor fuel economy. However when I switch to reserve tank the engine starves for fuel. I DO NOT use the reserve tank because the bike will run out of gas. I can keep restarting it when its on reserve and go a few miles with the motor sputtering. I also believe that these two symptoms happened around the same time, about 3k miles ago after I had the sprockets replaced and some other work done at the dealer. Also, when I got the bike back it died and had to be towed due to the fact that HD didn't put a screw back on my carb and there was air leak or something. Thanks. |

there is no reserve tank. The "On" position has a long straw attached to it, so it doesn't reach all the way to the bottom of the tank. The reserve position has a very short straw to reach the bottom of the tank. |

You might have some water contaminated fuel rolling around at the bottom of the tank below the level of the run straw. Try cleaning the fuel tank completely out and refilling with some fresh fuel. |

Have a problem with my speedometer. It is not registering MPH?! I found some kind of diagnostic on this site and everything comes back with "dXXCLr," but the speedometer just sits at zero. I did have some peckerwood kid intensionally knock my bike over the other day, but I cannot be certain the two things are related. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. |

I copped a Dremel tool today... I've been cutting, grinding, trimming and shaping things on mine bike all day! I hollowed out the rest of my air box too, next I'll work on making the EZ's stack splitter for the airbox as well. When I get my new tail light/fender eliminator I'm gonna chop my tail. I can't believe I waited so long to get a Dremel, I F'ing love this thing! |

I just got the mesh riding pants I ordered, my first pair ever, and have a question about the knee armor. Is the armor supposed to fit over your knee in the standing or riding position? |

Blastrider: Do you still have the EPA charcoal canister hooked up? If it is, then any further diagnostics will be futile.(Yeah, I know you didnt ask my opinion) |

My exhaust was fixed on monday! A friend and i + wife/gf were going to do a hiking/camping trip this weekend, but the women backed out. So, with their change of plans we are changing our and going to go ride/camp Skyline drive (Shenandoah national park). Now the wife is pissed bc we are going with our her, but there is no way the camping gear + wife would fit on the bike. It is going to rain tonight on the ride out and i can't find my rain liners, so i am going to wear my backpacking rain suit. If anyone is going to be out there look for 2 black blast both with super bike bars, napoleon mirrors and backpacks strapped to the bikes. |

Need some advice. Last night on my way home I was cruising along about 70 in 5th gear. I started feeling like the bike was surging, almost like a brake was being tapped on and off. I down shifted into 4th and it went away until I went back into 5th. RPMs didnt sound like they were changing any. Also my neutral light is staying off at idle but if I rev the engine it flickers on and off. I figure this is the bolt in the primary being loose probably. But could this cause my 5th gear issue? I have a new spark plug in it and thought maybe the tip unscrewed some, I am going to check that tonight along with my boot. Just looking for some other opinions. Thanks |
