Thanks Crackhead, I'm aware of the XB shifter. I just don't want to have to drill into the primary case if I don't have to, hence why I'm asking about the X1/S1 improved shifter. It's listed as one of the four options above for shifters, but I want to know if anyone has actually done it or not. |

The Banke has the XB/updated style shifter - it is more fragile than the old style linkage - which I have Crossroads style. All I've ever had to do is replace a peg with the crossroads style, I've had to replace various things on the Banke style. EZ |

The Crossroads shifter is fragile as well, Ed. I was going about 15mph when I went down, and it folded the shifter in half like it was made out of paper. I'm more concerned about being able to replace the part should this happen again, which is why I'm looking into the oem parts instead. That said, I'm waiting to hear back from American Sportsbike about a replacement shifter anyway, *if* they can supply one and how much it would be. I'm going to guess "expensive" (Message edited by Phoebe on March 10, 2009) |

"considering making rearsets" moved under thread title "Buell Blast rearsets". *edited from original* Posted on Wednesday, September 06, 2006 - 06:21 pm: XB linkage: N0320.02A8 SHIFT LINKAGE ASSEMBLY, N0630.02A8A SHIFT PEDAL ASSEMBLY T0225.02A8 LEVER, SHIFT, ENGINE H0503.T BRAKE PEDAL PIVOT SLEEVE AN1008.2CXZB bolt (1) AN1006.2CXZB (2) Some of the bolts come with the shifter parts. I like using the Blast brake pedal pivot sleeve as it uses a 1/4" bolt (which I didnt supply a part # for-hardware store), which allows for a little drilling error and retapping if stripped. Linkage runs about $80 and may be available as a kit. I dont remember how the improved X1/S1 shifter attaches, but XB shifter parts will be easier to come by if you break it again. The bike is looking really sweet! You've done nothing but really improve and make your own - Great job Dan! That spit-can is nice as well - you have to sell your intake? That doesn't look like your usual one. That bike is just terrific! EZ |

Can't wait to see it! That's the intake that could be useful for all the rear-set crowd, besides my stack - lol - still it may work even better for the folks who like a real filter before their carb, and with the super-boot holding it - its all good! Can't wait to see it! EZ |

Thatsa nice! I love the use of stock or stock looking parts. I also like that filter set up better (than your other one). Though the one you sell on e-bay is nice and I think is selling well? It should! |

where did you get your tank sticker i cant find a tank emblem i really like tank feels naked the carb setup dan sells on ebay fits a 2inch rubber pvc pipe coupler and he might sell them separate the coupler pulls it out of the way for setbacks like the pic here leg goes over the filter a smaller filter would work better

Thanks for all the comps guys. The tank stickers i got from a sign shop. The black thing is a k&n oil breather filter mounted on top of that spitcan i like that its a spitcan oil breather. |

Its amazing how well the Blast shifts with a better shifter! Are we going to see modified Y-frames on e-bay soon? Looks stock and you no longer have to remove Y-frames to do primary work. |

I have a set in the garage right now i just started working on I'd like to do this on an exchange for yours Y-frame plus payment. When you ship pay for the round trip shipment when they get to me i take yours out put new one in slap the label on hand them back to the ups man. But i don't know how that would fly on ebay. What you guys think? |

Just like Sargents, a good workable idea, just make sure you stipulate they are not to ship you junk, that such would be returned instead of product. EZ |

My first thought is this, it is virtually impossible to tell 'straight' Y-frames and slightly bent Y-frames apart without mounting them on the bike. Since most are bent, its an uphill battle and if you reply that the ones sent you were bent, they'll likely argue the point. The best way is to modify the ones sent you. The new peg is so far up on the Y-frame though, it may not make any difference at all whether the frame is slightly bent or not. Most, especially during the Summer, wont want to have their bike down a minimum of 2 weeks waiting for the frame swap to complete. And its certainly a leap of faith for someone to send out a payment and Y-frames, with nothing in return to show for it. Otherwise, I'd charge a 'core' charge and refund it upon receipt of a 'good' set of Y-frames. You could use the 'Superboot' as the core and when you receive the Y-frames, send off a boot instead of the money back. |

Thanks EZ - Erik i just gave you the basics i would go into detail in the listing with no junk an so on. The reason i'm leaving the round trip shipping up to the buyer if they want it in 4days or 2weeks is up to them an if they send me junk there paying for a round trip for nothing I think they might think twice about sending me junk. An i only use about 5inches of the drivers peg so if only slightly bent it probably wouldn't be a problem to put it in the vice an strait'n it out. |

It might be nice to see a picture with a rider, to see the change of body position too. |

I have a couple of Q's re: this brilliant idea for rearsets. 1) If I send 2 x new "y" frames how much for the conversion? 2) How does it effect the aftermarket air filter system you sell? IE: Can I still get my leg around the filter with this type of rearset? FYI: I'm 6'1" tall. 3) (OK: I said two but there are more!) How much (Ballpark) is the XB Shifter? 4) Does said shifter linkage still give me 1 down, 4 up? Sorry to be a PITA but, in my defense, I am REALLY interested in this setup. Thx. Chris C |

A quick FYI. I spoke to Banke about a month ago. He ballparked me $600.00 for a set of his rearsets. Chris C |
