Oh c'mon now Thumper, you DO realize that if the remote for your TV stops working you should replace the boot. Could you list the symptoms that you've had? "Poor rides" doesn't tell us much. ______________________ Firing order: 1 |

The week of the 19th I have a job working 50 miles from home. I will be commuting around 4:45am and then again around 5 or 6 pm. (I hate getting sub-contracted this far from home.) I want to do a good overall inspection before hand. What should I look for? |

Roysbuell - just keep an eye on your oil - carry some - and your tire pressure, and you'll be fine. Have fun! EZ |

EZ- Like a flask with oil under the seat? Note to self: Do not add whiskey to bike and drink the oil! |

Yuppers - that will do the trick - I use a back pack and oil bottle when doing a lot of miles, but then that is just padding in a fall, I also have an oil flask, only used twice though, I back pack most times - lol EZ |

New Bike Home Page So - what do you think - ideas, changes - they are dropping Geocities so I had to rebuild - so this is just a place holder with some of the old stuff thrown in. http://ezblastsbikes.com.p4.hostingprod.com/ EZ |

Yes - the XBBlast pic is a place holder for my now started rebuild project Blast motor - lol - and that 9SX is a goal bike for this year, if nothing new comes out in july dealer meeting - waiting on that before buying. Today - I am switching out suspension pieces, seat, and bars making the daily rider a pretty maxed out Blast - pics to follow - the other pieces will go on the XBBlast - Crossroads rear sets, etc. - today will be a dis-assembly and assembly day! Though I havent had to replace one yet, from looking at all the parts it would seem that its very close to installing rubber suspension bushings on a car. If you install it wrong you're going to leave the rubber 'tweaked' and will assure early failure. I'm not saying thats how you installed yours, but I'm betting its a common mistake. |

NO. I thought it was me too the first couple of times.... But I am now certain, it is not that. Both parts I have installed, and parts the dealer has installed have failed. I have gone to GREAT lengths the last couple of times to make CERTAIN that I am not twisting the rubber when installing both on my S3T and the Blast. I KNOW it wasn't twisted during install. The quailty of the part is suspect. The tube-frame guys have been dissecting failed parts and have found a pattern of defective workmanship. The "new" L~~~~.2 part is poorly manufactured, period. They are consistantly failing around 1500 miles, even Al at American Sportbike has posted a disclaimer and warning on the part for this reason. What I want to know is what Buell is using at the factory on new Blasts. I read on another thread that the -79D isolator which needs to be drilled for the Tuber's main bolt, does not need to be drilled for the Blast since the Blast's hardware is slightly smaller. Naustin...the last Blast iso I installed on my bike lasted less than 500 miles..I then installed the 79D iso...I expect no further failures. |

I'm not saying the economy has take it's toll on the HD dealers, but I was just given a quote of $500 for a trade in value on a 2005 Blast with 14500 miles on it. All I can say is WOW!!!! Just a bit shocked at that. KBB has a trade in of $1900 in good condition. All I need is new tires and the 15000 mile service. I can't see that costing $1400. The sales guy was helpful and even went back and tried to get it higher. |

OK, so I just melted my piston, ruined a cylinder, and seized a valve so badly that the head has to be sent out for machining. I am not happy to say the least, but I am in a situation where I have to make repair decisions in a hurry. So I was wondering if any one can give me some quick details on a big bore kit. I.E. where to get? How much? What comes with? etc. Also any pros and cons or personal experience would be appreciated. I am thinking that with this much damage to the top end I am probably going to wind up buying most of the contents of such a kit anyway. Thx in advance |

Carb and boot? http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/280643.html?1246408593 I'm not so sure about the 515 kit right now... Throwing an XB top end on your bike will give you everything you need. 7500 rpm limit, XB cam capability (compares to the B70 cams, B70's might work-IDK), 10:1 compression, better flowing head and more efficient combustion chamber-all from 'stock' parts. IMHO-I've never been sold on the 515 kit as a 'hot' set up. The only reason I used one was because of availability-I needed to get the raceBlast track ready in 5 days and that gave me everything I needed, quickly, in one package. It only lasted 500 miles I think more bang for the buck is had in cams, 10.5:1 piston, headwork, exhaust and raising the redline. I'm not saying the 515 will fail, I just dont know why both of ours did in the same manner. (Message edited by gearheaderiko on July 13, 2009) |

Concur! I think I got lucky there - the Niksil must be thick in my kit, though she drank oil like a sailor, compression was never in doubt - lol - I was going to see about refreshing it, upping the anti a tad more while its apart sort of thing - lol - but I've always said a budget build would be the one you recommend, and a good recommendation it is in thought and meaning. Cap and Ball. Apparently it was shot with a musket... It's a sad way to go, albeit somewhat fitting for a primitive design. |

Sorry, Carb Boot,(forget the and) I wasn't trying to be misleading, but with all the discussion about them I figured that it would be picked up right away. The XB top end sounds interesting - and practical. This would involve a new cylinder, piston, and head right? Could I leave the cams for now to avoid splitting the cases? |

Your cylinder with an overbore XB piston and an XB front head. Cams are easy (easier than a 515 kit), you just need to pull a cover, not split the case and easy when you've already got the head off. Used XB9 or 12 heads can be found. (I do seem to have a knack for finding them though!) Cap and Ball..LOL! |
