I'm 115lbs and are 4,10" tall. The stock low seat is 25.5" if you weight 190lbs. Without the weight, it's 27.5" tall. So I needed a little more shaved off. Costed an arm and a leg but took over an inch off and really thinned out the side for more reach. Anyway just thought I'd post pics.  | ||

I'm looking to lower my seat because I've come to prefer the position of lying down (crotch rocket style) on a bike rather than sitting up. I have the stock high seat and I'd like to try doing a reversible mod to the stock high seat or maybe getting a cheap used low seat. I wonder if EZ has any low seats that I could come by and try on my Blast (?). It'd be nice just to stop by and see those crazy dogs again. I'm an even 6 feet and I just sit too high with the stock high seat. What I'd like to do is lay on the tank when I ride since I like to cut back on the wind noise since I'm usually listening to music while commuting to Berkeley (I know that can be unwise depending on traffic conditions, but it's a long commute). I lay on the tank now, and there's just enough room to keep my head under the stock wind deflector. It's rather uncomfortable however as my hips are too high up so it strains the lower back after 30 minutes or so of riding. I'd love to get a setup where I could be sitting 6+ inches lower, literally as low as the frame. It feels funny riding like that around the city, but it's perfect for freeway riding because I lay right on the tank and it's very comfortable, except I'd like a seat instead of the frame to sit on.  EZ, you got any low seats around (even a stock would be nice to try on for a quick spin around the neighborhood) that I could test out? This mod pictured looks promising too. Care to post any details? Did you just go at it with some sort of saw and then staple down the cover? | ||

I've added foam to the seat, all I have are tall seats, however, have Sargent lower it, and put the back support hump further back so you can stretch further back as well, there are several Bay area shops also. EZ | ||

Low seats are a dime a dozen and the least desirable (apparently) seat to have. Tall seats get lively bidding on ebay, low seats often go without a bid. Broken tab seats are easy to fix and good for a deal. If you look at my seat mod on the front page its a low seat and cut way back as you desire. The seat pan has hump in it to clear the battery terminal and hinders any further lowering of that section (unless you like sitting on hard plastic). You can go a little lower behind that hump though. The battery hump could be cut out, but I do not know how much clearance there is for that (between seat and battery). An electric carving knife works as well as the purpose built 'hot knife'. I use wood and hack saws. Not difficult but a little harder to get a perfect cut with a hand saw. PS very messy! |
