EZ...NOO!! Not Vader......but as stated before in the tragedy comes some good. You now have some options to even more fun! LoL Garlic - I like the City X too which is why I bought my '03 XB9S that will be getting a fiew of the X pieces hehe. The XB's are great bikes and I thouroughly enjoy mine. The Blast is still a great bike for bombing around on, but it's pretty fun to go from 10-55mph on the back wheel too |

I also am very curious as to what happened. I doubt the drum has a problem where it is bound in the case...the next thing in line is the drum itself...but that would mean it would have to be mechanically broken, and I can't imagine anything that would break a drum...higher on the possibility list is a fork pin has come out of a fork...or a possible previously damaged fork breaking...next in line would be a damaged slip spline on a shaft that prevents a gear from sliding or a broken gear dog that is binding up..and last on my list is a failed secondary shaft to output bearing where the secondary is out of alignment binding the forks or gears... |

Would this mean a faulty neutral light could be a symptom of something more serious on mine? |

Have you tried shifting the drum by hand by turning the detent plate? If you can't turn it it is probably a bent shifter fork binding things up. |

Multipart Post. 1) After 2 tanks of 91 octane gasoline, and about 4 ounces of STP complete fuel system cleaner (additive), the Blast is running much better now. Very few dead spots in acceleration, which is nice. 2) I hit the observed speed of 95mph today going on the freeway that had a slight slope to it. On completely flat ground, the stock Blast struggles after 90. 3) I went on my first day trip ride this morning. http://sites.google.com/site/andychangsbuellblast/recent-rides 4) Click on "Starved Rock." If you notice direction #11 and zoom in on that area, you'll see that there were some veritable twisties. Posted speed limit was between 10 - 15mph for the ones on a grade, and 15 - 20mph. I got to use SEE and Brake Look Lean Roll a lot, and I was doing pretty well until a particularly difficult left hand turn with a posted speed recommendation of 15mph. I was probably doing no more than 18 and following SEE and Brake Look Lean Roll. I missed the gravel on the outside corner of the road in my "evaluate" and "look" portions. 5) Embarrassment ensued. Besides a few scrapes on my knuckles and a few scratches on my knee, I was fine. Shoulder and chest are a little sore, but man am I thankful for knee protectors, gloves, and armored jackets. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2199435&id=2 403743&l=8e0603be54 6) The bike was still rideable after the little mishap. Rode it to the dealer I bought it from about 70 miles away. Conveniently, it was also time for my 1000 mile servicing, so it'll be at the shop until Monday. I chose to have them use the "Harley" brand synthetic as the oil change because they didn't have Amsoil. I predict that the monetary dinging for a new blinker setup and shifter will be much less than my ego and pride dinging. 7) Above all, I am happy that I have been initiated into the "those that have crashed" category of riders. Knock on wood, it will be my last accident. (Message edited by andychang on July 03, 2009) |

that shifter is fixable with a pair of channel locks. If the shop replaces the whole lever get it back so you can make a shorter shifter out of it for later. gear- the V&H is in canada, i can't imagion how much $ shiping will be. I should have the pipe rewelded this weekend. (Message edited by crackhead on July 03, 2009) |

The Bahai Temple is awesome. Daytime the gardens, the night time the lights on the temple. Girls from the city would like going there. |

Roysbuell: Yes, a faulty neutral light could be an indicator of something more serious, but its very unlikely. Its probably just a bad switch or wire. |

Just got the call about the price of my 1000 service and fixing the stuff I broke/bent this morning. 283$ total including tax and labor: 13$ for the blinker assembly 45$ for the mirror (didn't realize that was so costly) ~15$ for the shifter. Didn't remember the exact price, but it wasn't too bad. So around 80 bucks for parts and tax for stuff I broke. 200$ was about what I had in mind for the 1000 mile service, and this was using the HD synthetic oil. I'm sure this is old news to some of you all, and damning news to those of you who do your own work...anyway, Happy 4th of July weekend! |

hey what do you guys reccomend for a commuter tire? mainly a commuter tire that wont hurt mpg's, and most importantly wont "track" with the lines in the road (all freeways i travel are "combed" with lines) and will also handle ok in the twisties... i'd like to go wider than stock as well so it looks less scooterish... any reccomendations? |

4ork, Take a look at the Avon vyper strikes. I never ran them but a bunch of people on here do. I think they last a little longer than the Mt75's and they are wider. I like the Mt75's, they are sticky. |

I'm still working on the new Pirelli Diablos - very nice! The Avon ViperStrykes gave me 3500+ miles - for a big guy that is something! I suspect I will get as good or better from the Diablos - still too early to tell though - lol EZ |

I met up with Maggie, and her husband Thumper this afternoon. They rode all the way from Florida to Michigan to visit family.
The Little Kid showed up just a short time later
And we got a shot
From left to right....Thumper, Maggie, Swampy, and the Little Kid, if you look real hard you will see Maggies black "Iron But" Blast! My eyes are closed because like certain tribes in the world I am keeping my soul from being stolen by the camera. and since we were at the famous Joes Gizzard Shack we ate a few of these...they taste sorta like chicken. Funny thing, the people who live in town have never even tasted them before, think of the movie Funny Farm with Chevy Chase setting the record for eating sheep balls.
Maggie and Thumper, thanks for inviting me, it was great meeting you folks. I had a great time discussing Blasts with you both. Ride safe, have fun. I mean it, any problems along the way, call! |

you guys are typically running 130/90/16 size??? |
Gearheaderiko
| Posted on Sunday, July 05, 2009 - 04:40 pm: |

That size will not fit. Most run stock sizes. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/92908.html?1245302275 For the other sizes which typically include the 140/70x16 rear and 110/70x16 front. Any other size besides stock should be verified before buying. The rear tyre doesnt leave much clearance and some (or many) oversized rear tyres wont fit. |

everyone says the stock tires are MT75 or whatnot, i have dunflop K330's stock front/rear? so does my dad... sooo 140/70x16 only comes in a scooter tire from pirelli, are there any non scooter tires that would be a good match? |

The Scooter tyres by Avon and Pirelli are fine and superior. Anything else would be less. Unless you plan to do 100mph consistently, dont worry that it says scooter on the side. Dont compromise on front tire traction. Fronts will always go at least double the mileage of rears. The Pirelli's are the stickiest and reported that the Scooter tires get better mileage than the MT75's. The scooter Pirelli Diablo front is actually smaller than the MT75 front and gives a better ride. Both will make the grooves in the road disappear (the scooter doing a better job). If you like bigger tyres, I'd match the MT75 front with the Diablo rear. Its all in the link I already posted above. PS the new stock tyres are the Pirelli MT75's (the only upgrade the Blast has ever gotten). The old stock tyres are the K330's. |

That bag reminds me of something funny. When I was in high school there was a kid who rode a moped with a cassette player boom-box tied to the handlebars/headlight. He lived near my friends house and when he would ride by and make turns on it you could tell the front end was really heavy from the stereo tied to it. He would wobble pretty hard on that thing. You could hear him coming a mile away, "Here comes Gino". |
