hey, guys! It's been a while since I was able to post, and I've missed conversing with ya'll. I'm just about to start my engine project. I'm putting the top end of an X-1; jug, high compression piston, Thunderstorm head. Should be fun. Another project I'm working on is mounting a Firebolt fairing to my bike. It'll be my Fireblast. I think that if I build an aluminum support frame and mount it to the down tube of the bike frame, it should work. We'll see. |

Early - pre 02 later 02'an on to 04' The pre 02' Bub's where shorter, had the front mount bracket at the bend and had 1 3/4" ID The later 02' to 04'Bub exhausts are longer, bent differently, have stronger mountings (though mine never gave me any trouble and the ones that did crack at the front mounting bracket were rewelded and fine from then on)further from the final bend, and have an 1 5/8" ID header. Yes 1 5/8" ID - I apologize for not checking this out and posting it I had no idea that the design was totally new - that they would change it that much. Still for me it was/is? always a great drag pipe - pretty instant on with the torque, is ultra light, and the sound is totally cool - loud but cool! I'm sorry - Saro let me know and since the info was different from what I was told long ago I instantly called their new tech line and talked to Richard - and he let me know, when I asked how come they didn't change their copy (they changed the pic to the new style - lol) the reply was it is 1 3/4 now od - their copy never never specified id or od - lol My bad for not asking a human, when I was checking out the new style. Now they have discontinued making them due to lack of interest, so it becomes a moot point to some degree - Still I'm going to check in with D&D again and see if they have their volunteer yet - perhaps some good news there will surface. Other news - I was contacted off board from some folks at another board I drop in at and was told to try and get in touch with some locals associated with Statune Exhausts - they have been known to do the custom Blast exhausts - but you have to give them specifics of what you want, warentee is about 3 mo, and the price - lol - makes a Force look cheap. This is all second hand but it explains two exhausts that look simullar in pictures I have, yet don't match any other manufactured pipe and don't look home made. lol Sorry guys - I try to stay on top of these things, but sometimes I miss. Well, you're always gonna pay extra for a custom pipe. If the price comes down, definitely update me on that. New exhaust probably won't be the next thing I do (rearsets, most likely), but after that... |

Hellova deal on those rearsets!!! They are packaged nicely for installation (mine were in installation order). Take note however that the bolts on the brake side that hold the plate to the engine may be 1/4" too long.Banke says they hadn't had that problem, so it may be a difference in years.Otherwise, you will find them a quality item that really "bolts right on"! |

Yuppers it was a great deal!Yeah, but you know me - I got to modify them - bring them up a bit and probably switch out foot pegs - a few other touches - lol - my favorite quote - 'It just bolts right on!'...thanks for the smile;0) - it should be fun though and give the red a look totally different from the black. Anyone else have issues with the Blast Speedo crapping out? My speedo on my 02 Blast died, and the one on my buds Cyclone died also. |

Hey! My custom exhaust caust $90! I should have painted it when I got it. See Exhaust in the Knowledge Vault. Anybody know the best way to pull the bolt studs from the head where the exhaust bolts in? I'm hoping EZ-Out will work. |

EZ Outs have worked, (and Sears has a new style-) so I have read, yet I was told chances are they could also break off due to the studs having an interupted thread to prevent backing out, an Annony. source spoke up and said they would need to be drilled out using a special guide - get your studs from a dealer - they are a special grade. The speedo sensor is the usual culprit - either needs cleaning or replacement. Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ edited by ezblast on February 24, 2004 |

Dont forget to use the anti seize on the new nuts.(I'd rather risk a loose nut than a broken stud)! Did it break flush with the head or can you grip it with vise grips? I would go with the penetrating oil and vise grips first if possible. |

So I'm polishing up the Red bike, and I finish up - and ride to the station to gas and air up, the rear tire feels a bit loose and so I'm taking it easy to my destination. I pull in gas up and go to the air. I've a leak - I can tell by the drop of pressure from what I usually have. I look closely at the tire and see the head of a rivet - I pull it out - the sucker is over 2" long! Jeez!!!! I go into the station buy a plug kit and the unflamable fix a flat - I do both air up and head on home. Guess its new tire time for Maul - lol - damn - I had just managed to even out the wear on it! LOL - I already put a set of Pirrelli's on it - I'll stick with sticky dependable rubber - at its price - cheaper than the dunlops by almost half, and with mialage almost as good - they are just the better choice in tire. Geez - it was raining this morn so I pull the bike into the overhang in front of work and wipe her down once again for American Sport BikeN tonight. Gordon - my bro in law - an old Triumph and sporty fan had a great time on the red with me on the black yesterday - buzzing around SF and down to Pacifica and back - I had to remind him it has a 5th gear - lol - but otherwise fun - he really liked it and now is thinking of picking up one for himself and Assa (nephew). If weather permits we'll both be riding down there - if not we will drive. - lol - Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Won't be at American Sport Bike Night tonight. Just noticed over the weekend that I had some oil on my belt/pulley guard. Checked it out and saw that the airbox has rubbed through the oil line. Or at least most of the way through. Got a ratty temporary fix in place (duct tape and a piece of a plastic milk carton, don't ask... lol), it'll hold for commuting (9ish miles each way). Been checking the oil every time I turn her off since Saturday, not losing any to speak of. Have to call the dealership tomorrow when the service dept. will be open, hopefully they'll have an oil line in stock, and I can get it taken care of quickly... I really, really should have armored that line. Damn.... Live and learn. Scott |

Hey, how's it going everyone? I might be moving to Okinawa, Japan in the next year. I plan on taking my Blast with me. Does anyone know if I will have to make any mod's to my bike. I've heard that some changes might have to be made, but I can't seem to find anything in writing anywhere. Is there anyone in earshot that might know anything? Thanks. |

Robert - you need to talk to Tony aka Xgecko - I think he can still be reached at this address - aikigecko@yahoo.com - he was researching that very thing but failed to find the nescessary info till it was too late and he was already in Japan, however, I'm sure he'd be willing to help you out with what he had learned. Would anyone know the part number for 2001 blast wheel bearings (front and rear)? I seem to have left mine all over the road this weekend, racing a snowmobile. The local H-D dealership will only order the parts if i give them the part numbers |
