So.. Today I finally did something about the leakage of oil coming from around my stock airbox, tell me what you all think. I disconnected the T going into the airbox, plugged the hole, and put an in-line fuel filter coming off of the pcv valve, now, what little leakage there was(less than an ounce only when above 75) is just simply put down on the road. Do you guys think this is acceptable, or should i attempt another set-up? Thanks.. |

As long as it is not near your rear tire - that's good. EZ |

if you are talking about 24 disks you are talking about earplugs as a requirement |

Well - go with bolts 1/2" longer and add 11 more discs - trick will be finding the discs - make sure the torque cone was never installed, and that the lower front mounting is stock. EZ |

Thumper, your fix sounds like what most Harley mechanics would do. If it leaks while stopped, get a drip pan. If it leaks while moving, reroute the leak. ______________________ Firing order: 1 |

OK. So its not too big a deal then. But, NO OIL from pcv leaking in the airbox finally!!. The relocation did the ol' blast some good. This may be a stupid question but... do you have to remove the carb in order to drill the plug out of the mixture screw? |

If you have the standard airbox affixed to your machine...Yes. If you have something aftermarket w/o the standard airbox just slacken off the boot ( hopefully, you have a "superboot" ) and twist the carb' counter-clockwise and you should have sufficient clearance to remove the aluminum plug w/a small drill bit. Don't go too deep as the idle adjuster screw is about 1/8th inch behind the plug and you don't want to damage it. re-adjust the carb' to its original position and re-tighten the boot. People with more knowledge re: Blasts than me may well suggest a better method but this worked for me. Good luck. Chris C |

so i was looking at some of the pic you all posted and some of them look like they have a really big front tire. is that just how they look in the pic or do people really put on over sized front tires? |

hey for you guys running the clip ons, what does the gauge cluster then bolt to? looks like if you remove the stock handle bar setup there is nothing for the gauge to bolt on to. just kind of wondering weather i should go clipons or 7/8" bar.... |

you don't have to change the triple tree to use most clip ons just remove the bar clamp |

I just ordered from Busters a new set of Jota/Laverda bars in Black - I've had these before and really liked how they felt long term riding wise. They are 4 way adjustable clubmans. My clip-ons on the toy also adjust 4 ways and are comfy as well. EZ |

For picks of the Laverda/Jota check the red Blast(now Black) and clip-ons see the black. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sidthlords/ WildHare racing for the clip-ons which are german made - Telefix clip-ons(profi-type)- These adjust in 4-ways and can be adjusted for your comfort, Busters in the UK at 59 British pounds plus shipping sell the laverda/Jota bars - 4 way adjustable cafe bars in black or chrome - they just changed their web site - so you would have to call them around 730 in the morning to order till they get them up on site - lol - they are also German made now, but I don't know who. today on the way home from a 70mi trip i noticed some weird issues. actually i noticed them on the way there last night as well. so starting last night on the highway i started having surging problems, figured i was low on gas so i switched to reserve. it did it a little bit on reserve too. but i was actually low so i figured that must have been it. after refueling the problem went away. but today it did it again but much worse, it actually died and i went from 75 to about 55 before i got the engine to pick back up again. it did surging and dieng at random until i got home. after getting home i opened the cap and shook the tank, there is plenty of gas in there.... so im pretty confused ive read a little bit about carb boots failing. this could explain the problem but i havent found any info on the symptoms of a failed carb boot. the bike did sit for about two years before i bought it last week so it could be dry rotted, the bike is 7 years old now also its been hard to start a few times |
