I have the bike suspended right now and i cant get the caliper off. You dont need to take the caliper apart (or remove pads), but it can be removed(after unbolting) by carefully spreading the pads apart with a screwdriver or you can do it by hand as you pull off the caliper. The caliper will only come out between the spaces in the wheel. You can even remove the wheel without pulling the caliper, but you'll need to remove the caliper to get it back on!
