Buellboy, I'm really sorry to hear about your wifes experience. Thats certainly doing any new rider a great disservice. I would complain, call and write to as many people as possible to get your money back or the course retaken for free (if your wife will even go-how about using your Blast for the class). Someone should be told. That catastrophy was bad for (besides you and your wife) Harley, Buell, the Blast, MSF, new riders and especially women riders. If it was me, at some point I'd have gotten so frustrated that I would've revved the engine, dropped the clutch and burned the sucker out. There are just some things I cant believe. |

Buellboy, I think I know how your wife feels a little bit. I took the riders edge course and they really have some messed up bikes. I also remember them going around the store for 2 hours trying to sell us stuff when all we wanted to do was learn. But the worst part of all is that our teacher told us that we would ride all Saturday and it turns out that we had to wait 5 hours until another class was done. By the time we got on the bikes it was 2pm and we stopped at 6pm. I didn't think that was nearly enough time to learn how to ride considering that not a single person in the class could do the last course of the day (and half the class used to ride bikes years ago). I had to fight to keep my bike from staling out every day too. |

Swampy, nope not in 4th! ha ha I pulled the boot off the other day and it is developing cracks inside but they have not gone through yet... i will be buying a new one this week and once i get some spare time i am gonna rejet the carb from a 175 main jet to a 180 and see if this helps my problem at all. On a side note i pulled the spark plug and it showed me that the bike is running on "correct" air/fuel mixture, not a little rich which apparently the Blast likes. So ill replace the boot, change the jet and let you all know how it turns out! Thanks for all the help that i have been getting guys! |

Guys I'm at a loss now. I checked fuel, spark, boot, battery, everything can think of and now the bike won't even try to start. Whats left to try? |

Pull off the gas cap and see if it start/runs. Could be a gas tank vent issue. Pull off the timing cover and watch the LED. When cranked over is the light sporadic. Does it light up with every compression stroke or every third one? What was the plug gap at and is it now flooded? It still cranks over right? From your posts it seems that it ran fine before you changed the plug and now it doesnt, is this correct? Or did it run fine, you did nothing and now it doesnt run? |

It ran wouldn't idle right and would kick and sputter, I changed the plug, it fired right once and now it won't fire at all now, just cranks and cranks, never turns. I don't think the plug is flooded because I took it out and examined it after letting it sit over night. The plug gap was at like .040, I'll go double check though. |

Well guys, thanks for all the advice. But the good news is I went out and changed the spark plug yet again and it fired right up. Now I just have to figure out how to stop foulin' all these plugs. But thanks again for all the effort. |

Turn your fuel valve off when you turn your motor off. EZ |

DK1090, have you drained the crankcase vent lately. Mine seems to spit a bit and soils the airbox. |

Thanks for listening everyone. I will take your advice and pass on my wife's experience in writing to more than one person. General Manager at Dealer, H-D headquarters, and maybe someone at Buell. My wife told me that when others in class fell, they had to fill out an incident report. She has a bruise that will make you cringe on her thigh where the bike landed on her, but they did not fill out any report. Or call us to see how she was. |

Have you pulled the tank to see everything up there on top? It could be coming from the grommet/PCV valve area. |

Concur, probably the PCV valve grommet. Though Sycho did just have his rocker cover gasket warranted. New Thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/452353.html?1239809724 Fun for all! Try to be brief and factual. |

I just gave it a closer look, and the oil seepage appears to be centered around the front engine mount bolt and where it connects to the head -left front top quadrant. I've not had a chance to clean it up yet, but does this point to anything? (FWIW, the engine mount appears intact) ______________________ Firing order: 1 (Message edited by Awf_Hand on April 15, 2009) |

Awf_hand, yes Gearheaderiko is correct I did have similar symptoms. I was hoping it was just the PCV valve grommet but after cleaning around that as much as possible and riding for sometime after that the leak was still there and just making a mess. Jprovo saw it and suggested I have them check the Rocker box gasket and voila! Zats what it wuz. Anyways mine's an '07 too and it got fixed and cleaned up all under warranty. They also replaced the front motor mount for free. |

Anybody have 2 minutes to measure from the top of the speedo (the part closest to the flyscreen), to the very top of the flyscreen? Thanks |

Awf_hand, that's were mine was showing oil too, near the motor mount bolt. It definitely could be a rocker gasket, but mine was the PCV grommet. It was seeping down the hole in the middle of the rocker cover, down to the front of the cylinder. To really get a good look at the top end, pull the tank, it only takes 5 minutes to get it off. |

I'd be happy to do the measuring but I've got the windshield on and not the fly screen. So my measurements wouldn't help ya' much. Sorry. |

It took me slightly over 2 minutes as I parked a bit aways: I measure 2.9" at the slant. ______________________ Firing order: 1 |

Thank you very much! I'm mounting a new 'flyscreen' and I dont have a 'stock' flyscreen or stock headlight mounts to compare to. If I mount it as high as the stocker, then I've just defeated the purpose of the new screen Your 2+ minutes has saved me at least an hours worth of work. Thanks again. |

Daris, Chris, Mark, James, Shannon, Kyle, Ray and me! Thats all I can vouch for, cause I know some dont 'check in' very often. Weather looks to be in the 60's and no sign of rain. Warm for NorCal, cold for Socal! |

Yeah - all of a sudden a smile crept up on me - next week is the ride - gearing up - looking forward to meeting everyone! Paul, Wes, Scott - all said they where coming, I've had a few other inquiries, but no firm confirmations, maybe a guy on a Duc, we'll see - it will be a nice ride - each day at a time. EZ |
