The parts list is very simple...4 pieces of 3/4" square tubing (1/8" wall) a couple of pieces of 1/8" flat stock for gussets, three 1/4" threaded rod coupling nuts for the master cylinder and brake pedal bolt mounts...I used a pair of old kawi peg mounts that i cut apart and used for the peg hangers...basically the "C" shaped part that the pegs pin to...the tubing is welded to the stock kickstand mount with some flat gusset underneath...the whole mount comes off by unbolting the master cylinder and brake pedal bolts and the kickstand mount bolts...I have on order material to make a braided stainless brake line and a smaller brake fluid container that I can mount out of the way...but the main object was to allow access to the primary cover...nothing but the shifter needs to come off to pull the cover...and the new peg position feels very nice. Thanks for helping with the pics EZ! and the tank trim has always fit that way...the cover must be warped or something...I can put it in place and it will go back to that position...when I paint it, I will get a different cover.. And thanks guys for the props |

You can convert to GP shifting with even the stock shifter - lol EZ |

First time I get that deep into my transmission, I'm going GP! So many times I'm hard in a left turn, and I wanted to go to 2nd, but my toes would hit the ground before I could get them under the shifter. |

XB shifter goes either way, GP or standard. You can also adjust the XB shifter for faster more positive shifts up or down. Storz sells a nice GP shift arm or theres always modify the stocker. No need to modify the tranny for reverse shifting (better shifting maybe)! |

Fast1075 - could you send me some closeup pictures - I'll post them - where it was mounted to the frame part etcetera - that way people would have a clearer idea on how to fab their own - that is a very well done job. EZ |

Close up of steve's set up - a pic under the bike would help as well - however, this is pretty sharp from what I do see -

I didn't have a piece of 1" flat handy to cap the bottom..I'll do that next time I have it off..the square tubing is butt welded to the stock kickstand mount...it is offset down to clear the engine case on the left side (take a took at the stock mount and you will see)...I must say that it has worked for me very well...but I must caution that I am not an engineer and as such I will not even imply that the modification is safe or suitable for any use or function...(I really miss the days when you didn't have to say stuff like that) The point is...be careful.. I took those pics while I had it in the air for a fluids change and general maintenance...with the peg hangers gone (the entire reason for the mod in the first place) and the Jardine exhaust...the fluid change and clutch/primary adjustment was a snap..the lift made it even enjoyable. |

So I must suck at searching the net because I can't find anything for 02' Blast rearsets. Does anyone have any links I could look at or know what company to use? |

I can tell you with certainty that American Sport Bike does not have any of the old Cross Roads Performance rearsets. I think Banke will one off a set for you or you can do a set yourself |

http://www.bankeperformance.com/buell/rearsets.htm l My guess is $500+. They are easy to make (but having made a set, thats easy to say)! If you can get some of the others wanting a set to go in on a bunch, it might bring the cost down a little. |

A couple tidbits: The plates are the hardest to make and that just needs (besides aluminum plate) a drill and jig saw. You can use the front sprocket cover as a template to drill the 3 holes. The primary side is a little harder, but the above instructions should have a 'paper' template you can use or get a primary gasket and use that (or take your primary off-too much work). The rest is deciding where you want your footpegs and getting together the nuts, bolts, spacers, etc. Take it one step at a time (get the mounting plates done and thats most of the work). |

could yall post pics of yalls rearsets? I'm looking to make my own using the templates that have been posted above, but just curious of what has been done to support the passenger pegs. Also interested in seeing the different variations of a much needed mod. |

Duck, look at the top of this page..go into the archive "through Aug 3" some pics in there...Eric did a nice job on his racer and there are some pics of a bike where the front part of the stock hangers have been cut off, leaving the rear passenger part in place...me...I don't need passenger pegs |

the one I'd really like to see is the brake side of the bike to see how creative others are with the designs cut into the plate if any, or how one would look with no holes or chunks cut out, just polished aluminum. I'm not seeing any close ups of that side. thanks in advance. Deadduck |

I've seen them with just a big blank plate (doubles as a sprocket/belt cover), Banke style with slots cut in the plate, painted black, polished aluminum, diamond plate, holes drilled and plates cut down to the bare minimum of what you need to mount the controls. Pick your shape. Willy the Whale shape fits best for minimum. Sorry, I really dont have time to search through all the pictures and archives to find the pics. Do check the racing section also (if you havent done so already). If any tubers or XB's are using the engine plate style, that would work too. |

During my club ride on Saturday, a new member joined up...he rides a '00 X-1 ...the rear brake pedal would be a perfect replacement for my stocker that is much too long...and I found one on E-bay..wish me luck...when I get it, i will pull my setup off and actually FINISH it. (it works very well, but looks and finish count. |

I emailed chansikle. They don't seem to be interested in doing a Blast version. |

Their 03 shift side would work and their 04 brake side would work - you could call them and ask if they would sell that to you for their 04 price. EZ |

I looked at those picks. The 03 shift side is perfect, but how does that 04 brake side bolt on? I couldn't tell how it would match up to the Blast. |

The Brake side looks like a two bolt version of the Crossroads brake side - you could always ask to purchase the shift side only at a reduced price and fab up a brake side using stock parts a few spacers, and a plate. I'd use different pegs for that anyway. EZ (Message edited by ezblast on January 16, 2009) |

Toadd: The brake side is very easy to make. You can use the pulley cover as a template and except for a footpeg, it uses stock parts for braking. If the rear primary bolt pattern is actually the same for an XL as a Blast, then the shifter side will bolt right on. If you can tell Chainsikle that with certainty, they're likely to sell you just the shifter side and maybe add the option on their web site (remember how 'we' got that done with the SuperBrace-they now list the Blast as an application). |

If you can get them to sell just the shift side footpeg mounting bracket (and it fits both an XL and P3), thats your best bet. If your handy with a drill and jig saw the rest is easy, just takes a little time. You can make your own shfter/footpeg mount plate, it just takes even more time, but its not rocket science Once you've made a set, you realize how easy it is. From what I've seen the pulley cover mounting holes are different than any of the twins (XL or XB). Correct me if I'm wrong, but thats why most twin rearsets on the brake side dont bolt up. True - but I think they/we could match 2 holes around there or make your own plate and spacers - the break side is easy - really - EZ |
