FYI: I've been gone for a few days and also my computer keeps crashing for days on end. So, if I fail to respond to an e-mail or post, my apologies. By the time I got/get back online there's hundreds of posts to read! |

Well I changed out to fresh gas. It did not help. I started it last night and it ran for a minute and then died. I started it and had to give it a little gas till it warmed up. after warm up idle is fine. I guess I am going to have to clean out the low idle jet or buy a 45. One question, why would it be the low idle jet if after it warms up the idle is fine? If it runs fine after warm up, would that mean the low idle is ok? |

Crackhead - not sure. The Blast is brand new (75 miles), so I might take it back to the dealer. The dealer is 100 miles away. I would rather fix it myself, that is one reason I bought the bike. thanks for the help! |

Could also be a too tight primary. If the generic factory spacer does not correspond to that particular motors needs - you could also get those symptoms - a simple going 5 to 8 flats out more could cure your problem as well. EZ |

i have a 01 blast that the transmission was acting up on so i split the case, now im putting them back together and all of the 5/16 x 3 1/2 bolts that hold them together are acting up, the manual says their the rite ones but when they get about a 1/4" from bottoming out they get real hard to turn and if i keep turning them it will strip out, what am i doing wrong? |

Run a tap slowly and gently through the threads to clean them out - ever so gently is doing it right. EZ |

Geh The Blast is set up lean, if the jet is slightly blocked it will be tough running till it gets warmed up, change out to the larger one and you won't have that problem. |

I was gonna say you just need to turn them harder. Yep, what EZ said, and clean the bolts well before you put them back in. |

Quick question - I swapped out jets last night and shimmed my needle. Now, at about half throttle or more I get flat power and some popping from the motor. I thought I had das boot on correctly, is that the first thing to re-check? Is there anything else I could have screwed up? |

Check the boot, but, could it be the float is out of position? |

I guess it's possible - I definitely bumped it a few times while I was changing out the slow jet. |

Unless your pouring out gas, the float is fine, try turning your airscrew 2 3/4 turns out from light bottom, and check to make sure das boot is on right and tight. EZ |

Kustom - Hang in there man! Ok,figured it out. The shim I used on the needle had too big a diameter so the plastic needle holder wasn't making contact. Whenever I gave more than about 1/4 throttle the needle was floating and letting a ton of gas through. Used a smaller shim, now it works great. Oops...I thought it smelled a little rich |

Heading into my first oil change on my Blast. I've read through the book procedure. Is there anything else I should need to do or look at when I'm dumping the oil? Does all the bike's oil really come out of that little hose, i.e. none sits in the engine case? ______________________ Firing order: 1 |

Correct. Remove the hanger, take out the dip stick, position the drain pan, then pull the plugs from the tubes... Change the filter, then careful refill as not to over fill. Now if you are draining the transmission, that's a different (and much more fun) procedure). |

Some oil does actually still sit in the engine case (more if you dont warm the bike up first). Almost nobody drains the crankcase and it isnt specified or really required unless you have a specific problem or are OCD Might be near impossible to do if you have the stock exhaust. |
