Rex, that motor dont look good...the head is completely trashed, and the whole motor is filthy, corroded and rusty....I would let that one pass....and it's most likely going to go for stupid money anyway in spite of it all. |

Congats swampy!! so posting again sorry if you saw previous. I believe i wrecked my wheel riding too long on shot bearings, I was looking at wheels online for blasts and the only ones I could find were for 02-09 blasts. I have a 2000. Anyone know if there is theres any difference??? also how tight should i secure the front wheel. |

Any year Blast wheel will fit any year Blast. Front axle nut is 40ft Lbs. Pinch bolt is 15 ft Lbs. Tighten the axle nut first, then the pinch bolt. |

Thanks guys! Imadreadhead, what are you trying to take off? That is not a standard fastner, none of them on the Blast has a screwdriver slot in it, whoever put that on used either a screw driver or a very thinwall socket. If the screw driver does not work try grinding down the the outside wall of the cheap socket to get into the recess around the screw head. (Message edited by swampy on February 22, 2009) |

Grind down a cheap socket. Its a standard bolt part# C0156.TA (1/4 x 3/4 slotted, hex, flange w/lock patch). If thats a Craftsman socket it says Taiwan on it That might be why it doesnt fit (or sometimes the deep socket is thinner). Mines 20+ years old and made in USA. Snap-on or Mac would probably still be thin enough to work (but $$). I did go out to the garage, grab a socket and try it and I have taken them out before. I did double check the bolts on both Blasts too. That bolt is stock. |

Other 03? Did I miss something? Do you have 2 Blasts now? Have you joined the ranks of the blastoholics? |

What is that screw holding? Can't you just use a straight screw driver blade to remove it and then replace it with an allen head screw? |

No dread, i have spent 2 hours this weekend with an open ended wrench. Have 1 bolt 70 percent out. My next idea is a chainsaw.... |

I swapped fenders and thought I could do it with the wheel on, big mistake. It is really hard to reach those bolts. It only takes 10 minutes to get the wheel off. Then the fender is a 5 minute job. |

Offset box ratchet for fender bolts. It is much harder to get the fender on though. Wheel removal does save some time! |

Any good ideas for propping the bike up? Or does a jack and a couple of jack stands sound about right? |

I use a long pry bar under the swingarm on 2 jack stands. It's always worked well for me. |

OK, I get it now, that is the tamperproof bolt holding the lock cylinder on! LOL! Grind down the shoulder on a cheap socket. Replace it with something less tamper resistant. |

A 3/8" steel rod (available from Home depot or any hardware store) run through the rear axle on 2 jack stands. Sturdier and wont scratch anything. You can even run the rod through the adjuster holes in the jackstands for a really sturdy set up. Swampy posted a picture somewhere.... |

Yeah, but I guess that doesnt help you if you're taking the rear wheel off LOL! You'll still have to put it under the swingarm. |
