Just picked up a sweet deal at the local dealer. They had quite a bit of their leathers on clearance. Typically that means 25 percent off. I picked her up a new leather jacket, $450 MSRP for $120. Couldn't believe it! |

Any suggestions for two up on the blast? My wife is showing interest in riding with me, and I want to make it as comfortable for her as possible. Any seat mods, or anything like that? I already have full gear for her. |

Backrest. Possibility is a Ventura rack with a modified backrest to fit. Other than that, remember that 2-up riding is very different from solo. Be careful and safe. |

Quickly now..... Were were the inexpensive PS cams listed. I have been looking (I saw them a couple of weeks ago and now I can't find them!) Thanks! |

Also a quick question.... XB head....do I want an XB9 or a 12? Do I want to use the front Cylinder also from either? Numbers....uh bore and stroke...so many numbers, my head is hurting. |

the cams were listed in the main clasified section but the seller never responded. i think the front head and the heads are the same. (the difference is the stroke between the 9 and 12) |

Dan - What parts did you get? Obviously big bore, but I'm wondering what cam and head work, etc. EZ |

Ed, if that last post was for me...I bought a low mileage used bottom end and head for parts off E-bay.. Since I want to have the 7mm style XB valves put in it, I will be sending it off for the full treatment...I will pull the bottom end apart and have the transmission double backcut and have the cases bored to accept a 600 kit...I am still contemplating crankshafts...so many mods, such a depressed economy... but i'll get there. |

Don't forget the Baker Drum kit - if your that far, it would be worth every penny! Curious about your cam choice, and if you'll use ratio rockers. EZ |

I will weigh the opinions of several trusted sources regarding the cams and rockers...I'm not building a 25 mile Bonneville motor...just something with a bit more punch ...it must still be streetable... I would like a stroker crank, but the cost/return ratio is upside down on that one. |

Geez, it's like Christmas all over again!!!! My parts are in too!!! Nothing as cool as a new engine for building, instead a set of Aprilia Tuono mirrors from A.S.B. I had an incident that involved my left stocker landing in my lap during a WOT shift to third. It snapped right off at the threads, go figure... I'll post pics as soon as I spend some quality time with an easy out. |

how are the cranks constructed for our motors? are they like auto cranks or do they look like 2 fly wheels with a single pin connecting them? If they look like 2 fly wheels why can't we use the flywheels from a 1200 sportster and have it rebalanced to work with the single? I would think a harly speed shop would have them laying around from sportster upgrades. |

It is like a Sportster crank. Lots of little pieces. |

Belt snapped! Hello folks...my girlfriend and I got back from a great ride around Lake Okeechobee yesterday....274 miles out and back. Unfortunately, the belt on her P3 snapped in our driveway the day we got back...both fortunate and unfortunate I guess! Anyone have directions or a link on how to replace the belt. I'm going to buy one tomorrow and try to put it on. Thank you! |

Welcome to the Thumper Forum P33! Nothing special about putting the belt on other than the standard precautions, don't make a loop with the belt that is smaller than the smallest diameter(front pulley, don't fold it backwards and dont twist it. When you put it on put the belt inside of the rear pulley(not on it) then place the belt on the front pulley and then start the belt on the rear pulley and roll the tire feeding the belt onto the rest on the pulley. The hardest part is removing the front belt guard and rear tire hugger! |

Get the covers off, put belt on front first then put the edge of the belt on the top and back of the rear pulley and then roll bike backwards about 5 feet - belt will snap on - done - put plastic back on - done. EZ |

Crackhead: Without putting a great deal of thought into it I dont see any reason we cant use an XL or XB crankshaft. Modifications will be necessary, but a stroked engine should be relatively uncomplicated. |

P33 - hope repairs went well with the belt. This place is a great source for information. If you get back by the south end of The Lake a must do is Roland Martin Marina and The Tiki Bar. I rode down there around New Years and happened into it. Lots of bikes and sits right at the locks to the lake. Pretty cool place. http://www.rolandmartinmarina.com/ |

P33 Could you tell a bit more about the conditions wherein the belt broke? Mileage, age, other factors..? Thanks in advance, ______________________ Firing order: 1 |

EZ, are there any signs the belt give before it snaps? Mine looks good, but right at 15K. I know I need to replace the sprocket and bolts too at the same time. I'll probably do it before riding season starts. |
