That fairing looks great on it, Ed, but what about that exhaust? Looks like a 3" pipe on that bad boy! |

The Blast always seems to come up #1 in its class. It's been setting new records on the Salt Flats over the years, too. |

The nations quickest normally aspirated pushrod american made single in the 1/4 mile (among those that participate in sanctioned racing where this particular bike fits an accepted class) would be the best way to put it if it runs a heads up class...if it is an ET class or an index class, winning is all about consistency not speed or low ET. In which case, it's the tuner and rider that is the winner. Not busting anyone's chops or saying anything bad about the bike...it looks very good and is very well built for dragracing...i particularly like the rear frame section....it is by no means the fastest 500cc ish single dragbike...it could be...just hang on a 3 pound nitrous bottle and a airshifter and some electronics...now THAT would be fun!! |

Both of my bikes are lighter - lol and this puppy is about 20 lbs heavier than stock - lol The owners description: "mutant ninja" blast. I was hesitant to put pics of her on here because I wasn't sure what you guys would think. however I needed help with an issue wich by the way has returned to haunt me.see " warm up problems" ,as a matter of a fact as we speak she is sitting at work where she would not start leaving me stranded and embarrassed. however it makes me feel better knowing that someone is interested in her. so more info huh? let me see ,as you can probably tell I was in the market for a crotch rocket but could not get financed for one anywhere.so I found her at haps honda in sarasota where a delightful old gentleman does in house financing. so I bought her and went to work .the transformation cost about $150.00 thanks to a place called precision cycle also in sarasota. they let me dig through their scrap pile for parts that I thought I could use.and they sold them to me cheap.the most challenging part was to build the fairing out off of the bars so that the bars would turn inside of it. the upper fairing is from a suzuki gsx-r ,the side fairings are from some type of ninja as is the bottom piece.,no they were not meant to go together.anyway ,the exhaust is from a yamaha r6 the mirrors are ducati style", the superbike front fender is also from a yamaha.the bars are just drag bars that I got for $5.00. and the headlights are driving lights for a car. other than that it was just paint and moto gp stickers and a lot of engineering wich by the way is what I do for aliving only on buildings not bikes. I have been modifying cars for a lot of years but this is my first bike.I hope you like her ,even if I didn't stay true to the naked style that she was meant for.

Hellova deal on parts. I'm glad he didnt spend a lot of money on them. Would be great for an LSR bike. The exhaust will probably break if he did actually solid mount it as it looks like (despite being hugely oversized). Not my cup of tea, but from the pictures it looks as if he did a nice job. |

Hi! Been very busy. I dont know who was on the stock Blast with taped out headlight. Rarely saw him(?), there were very few pics of him and I didnt have time to cruise the pits. The Black Blast with white fairing was another guy named Eric (Erik?),also with an identical haircut! Looks like he'll be racing his Blast next year. He was doing very well. |

it's recovered - keeping the stock cover intact and just wrapping the colored part over it would probably be a better way to go. |

Erik, what does the torque curve look like with that long pipe? is it quieter? |

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/317855.html?1214804031 Berki, see the last Dyno I posted for the XB head (an early one might still have the Pro Series). It is much quieter since the noise is now behind your ears at the very tail of the bike, its also a tightly packed straight through WB can (no baffles or discs). Its not tuned (by me) for the engine mods or power, but gained considerable ground clearance over most available exhausts, which was important for racing. Some performance increase may be had by altering length or discs, but although I have unlimited use of a dyno, it still costs me money. The torque curve is hampered by the XB cams which leaves the low to mid range rich (2500-4000rpm) which isnt solvable by just jetting. I've theorized (and have had much input on) that the installation of a Dial-a-jet secondary main would allow that to be leaned out. In that respects, the B50/PS cams give a much broader torque range, but lose about 3 hp at the top end (good or bad depending on application). Better carb-ing could gap the difference. |

The B70 cam rocks, except there is a definite cam kick at 3800, which lessens considerably if your at 1/2 throttle or more - which works for me - lol - a cam's kick is never great for longevity - so I give it a little extra there and that keeps it smooth - read no kick. EZ |

FWIW: The XB cams have the same kick (and its addictive), which could be lessened by leaning it out (as above), but after riding an actual XB, only so much can be done (but it can be tuned for optimal power), its in the cams. |

I haven't noticed any kick with mine, but with the stock piston & head it's kinda lazy all around! |

I dont know why yours doesnt kick. May not be as noticeable with the stock head and piston. May not be jetted right or the stock head and piston uses a 'richer' jetting, so it might actually be jetted closer with less of a kick, but perhaps less (relative) peak HP. |

Ed, which do you prefer? Clip-ons, or cafe style, bars or Superbike bars? Inquiring minds want to know. |

I like my adjustable clip-ons best, Blake introduced those to me long ago, then I spent a week searching for a vendor, their totally comfy because you can adjust them to fit your particular personal wrist angle - thus making your long rides much more comfy. EZ |
