least 2 1/4 by 1 1/4- looking at Summitt Racing exhaust clamps - shipping is closer - shipping for the other co was twice the cost of the clamp - lol EZ |

Dan Boot update, I got 460 miles on it now so it was crappy out today so i pull off the boot to give it's first full inspection. I want to let u all in on a little secret when first made the clamp for the boot i didn't have a new boot to put in so my 2001 boot is in there! I was using the mod stock airbox till i made my stack i took 2 short rides with the stack. Before i put the stack on i checked the boot was fine then after the 2 short rides with the stack with no support springs i checked the boot again. It split all the way around the the boot inside on both side but not alway thru i check it with light plus it ran fine! So after 460 mile the boot looks the same NO changes NO springs an it's going back on for more hard testing!! Plus i still don't have a new one to put in yet i'm waiting on an order!

Hard testing: Always start WOT, and do not shift below 4th. |

Seems to me that if you trimmed off the outer and middle ridges off the outside of the boot, you'd have an even better set up (unless you did and we dont see it).At that point it matches the manifold coupling my DelOrto hangs off and its seen many backfires without failure. FWIW: Running an unsupported carb with a Pro Series air cleaner wont necessarily break the boot. Running without an air cleaner, unsupported, has even less boot stress. Just saying that there is no guarantee that running without a carb support is going to lead to boot failure in a short time. Supported is better, but there isnt any reason to be over paranoid about it. When running anything less than the stock air box though, you should carry a spare boot. Its too easy to rip the carb off. |

Brace news - today or monday afternoon will have news of a stock number to order with - price around 145.00 - already less expensive than the Crossroads item, and a stronger item by the looks.

Nice work EZ! As soon as they are available I'll send a link to the Blast racers to at least make this worthwhile for that company. |

I've never ripped mine. I've blown it off a couple times! EZ--What, exactly, does bracing your fork accomplish? I have a general idea, but I think there are some who have no idea at all. |

I have been negotiating with someone that currently has a 2000 Blast. I have the price down to $1800, and I think it is a pretty good deal. It has around 5000 miles on it and has never been dropped, wrecked, etc. It has added bags on the rear and a windshield. This is my first bike and I have no idea if it is a good deal or not. Any help would be appreciated. |

Do a search on completed Ebays that can give you an idea of what is what. Don't forget to craigslist, and Welcome to the thumper Forums Lgs_dad! The 2000 had a rear pulley recall due to it self destructing. There was a very recent posting here about a Blaster that had one come apart on him. |

I think its a pretty good deal - at that many miles most of the warts have been drawn out - leaving a pleasant riding experience before you. EZ |

Erik O, I do take the ridges off the outside of the boot. I did the full boot clamp to totally seal it an looking for something to replace the spring supports setup. An the boot i'm using is damaged an has 5010 mile on it works great. Dan |

Lgs-dad: $1800 is acceptable with bags, windshield, low mileage and good condition. Dont pay more though. Winter is coming and prices will go down as well as demand. |

"Its too easy to rip the carb off." Not that that ever happens, but it is easy to do (like in an accident, etc.) |

The fork-brace - equalizes uneven forces acting on the front end, lowering the chances of brake pull, tank slappers, and the front end wanting to swap with the back, and keeps the front more firmly planted where you point it for more stable riding. EZ |
