Hey Guys. I realize this info has probably been posted 1000000000000000 times, but I'm thinking of going to the pro series intake/exhaust and wanted to know if someone has posted definitive instructions about where the plug is to drill out on the carb, and what ballpark jets to get? |

Englishman--You can find the ballpark figures for carb jetting in the Thumper Knowledge Vault under the "Engine-Carburetion" topic. They are posted at the top of that page. As far as drilling out the carb, I'm not sure, but I think almost everyone else on the board will know. lol... Hope that helps. Scott |

Englishman, The plug that needs to be removed to access the air-fuel adjustment screw can be found just in front of the float bowl. If looking at the carb from the bottom you will see a approx. 1/4" mild steel circle in front of the float use a small drill bit and drill through this using great care to not damage what's under it. Again it's soft and easy to drill through. Then what works best for removal is a sheet metal screw inserted into the drilled hole and a pair of pliers to remove the plug. As for starting place for jets the Thumper KV is a good place to start. Ray |

Hey everyone, not only did you correctly diagnose my problem but I fixed it and had a great time today at the So. Cal BRAG ride/Supermoto (long story!. My bike ran great the whole day, and I really appreciate the help from everyone (Goodbye charcoal can). By the way, I have reason to believe that the can filling up in the first place was my fault- I tend to over fill the tank when fueling... |

Hmm.... Some time a couple of months from now (I've got too many irons in the fire right now) we'll have to hook up with James at Ontario Mills for a Krispy Kreme pre-ride pseudo breakfast then ride to Newcomb's for a real breakfast. Hey, where's Dyna when we're all taslking about food? -Saro |

Hmmmm. Overfilling the gas tank. That sounds familiar. My canister was so full of gas the bike wouldn't even start!!On a 49 stater the gas just goes out the vent to the ground-On a Calif. bike it just fills up the canister!! Yeah, it was real embarrassing having to tow my brand new bike home from work!! Believe me, I tried everything to get it running, so I think you got lucky!Sounds like you had a nice ride. Maybe next month I'll head south for the BRAG ride! Erik

Who can tell me what size the o-ring is that goes on the end of the clutch cable that goes into the transmission? The last person besides myself to put a wrench to my Blast! felt it wasn't needed, and I don't feel like driving 200 miles round-trip ... |

I haven't serviced my bike since 8k miles and I'm now at 14,500 now. Dealer is replacing both sprockets and belt. They adjusted the primary chain which they say was well off. Also mentioned that my front brake pad is pretty much gone, front tire worn(I don't believe the dealer and I agree on what's "worn". I ride until it's bolgna skin.). Also mentioned that my base gasket? was going to need replaced or fixed or something soon but not necesarry now? other than that she's golden |

Kyuss - not trying to rain on your parade, however, I'd be real concerned if a dealer told me that about my base gasket - maybe its time to Nallinize;0) - are you leaking, and if so do they know what blew out your gasket? (too much oil, etc.) - just curious - however, if you have a warrentee the gasket is warrented (your jug/cyl. are not), I would have them do it before Nallin becomes a serious option - lol - or you could do it yourself in winter time. Luck! Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Besides the obvious... what are the general opinions of the 515 vs. 600 kit? Inquiring minds want to know... |

Opinion: If ya GOTTA do some work to the top end but don't wanna split cases & go insane, do the 515 kit. If time and/or money is not an object go the 600cc route (which will require removal of motor & splitting of cases & boring of case spigot). Opinion. -Saro |

515cc - is a great little kit supplying extra power and increased fuel economy (piston is designed for the Blast head specificly)- this kit is great for the person who does not want to wait! 600cc - Much more power and definately the kit to use if your doing a complete tear down and rebuild! I just wanna pack it up and go... (I think john hammond sang that?) 515 it is then RE: BASE GASKET... the dealer(dufus) didn't detail the cause or look of the base gasket... he just said its common! I think I might head up there this weekend and check it out myself. |

Kyuss, I've never heard of a common base gasket problem with the Blast now rocker box that a different story. If you look at the 515cc kit from Nallin for a little bit more you can look at an XB head also which makes it even sweeter. Just a thought. Ray |

Thanks Ray, I thought I read in the Big Bore Kit thread that you had to do some work to make the XB head fit? Like I said, for now, I'm just looking to pop it on and go. Kyuss |

Kyuss, Yes, it does take a little modification to adequately secure the XB head. No, it taint no big deal. If this KS redneck can do it, I would bet that you can. It is just a better head to start with than the stock Blast head. Ray P.S. And even better, if you let Brian and Aaron at Nallin Racing breath on it a bit. For street use think about the XB cams the price is right and the curve looks real good for the street. Nallin can get you those as well. |

I have a long story to tell, but to make it short... My bike was stolen and laid down... Took it to dealer for ESTIMATE on repairs and was WAY TOO MUCH!!! I told them that I would pay for the estimate and pickup the bike on the following friday when I got paid. I went into the dealer on the following friday and they had "fixed" my bike, yet it is still messed up! I told them I want them to remove all the parts they put on it and put my old parts back on, they told me that they had already thrown the parts out. They want me to pay over $1000 now to get my bike back and they said that they are imposing a mechanics lean on it. I just want advice on who to contact, or how to get my bike back without paying for anything but the estimate which I authorized them to do. I only authorized them to do an estimate, nothing more. I have talked to everyone at the dealer, and i've contacted Harley and no one will help me! HELP!!! |

First, if you signed a work order to fix the bike, you are stuck. (I think) If you didn't sign a work order and authorize them to proceed, they can't charge you for stuff that you did not authorize. The fact that they threw away your parts without your consent is underhanded, you should have been able to bring your rashed up stuff home with you. I would contact the better buisness bureau. Noah, Get together any copies of paperwork that you signed. Take them to an attorney who is familiar with laws within your state, and see what he says. I'm not a big fan of lawyers in general, but they do have their place. The most important of which is to advise you where you stand. Was your bike truely stolen as you say in your post, then your insurance policy should pick up the bill. That is one of the many reasons we must carry insurance. Ray |

I signed nothing but the origonal request for an estimate, I never authorized the replacement of any parts on my bike. The guy at the dealership initially told me that they did the repairs I requested, I told him that I said "I will pay for the estimate and pickup my bike on the 25th when I get paid." I also told him that he told me they would need a $200 deposit before doing ANY repairs to my bike which I had not paid and was not going to pay. Yes it was stolen by a previous roommate. It was stolen out of my garage (although I had no solid proof of it, but how else would it end up in my work parking lot all bashed up with the keys still in it). The bike was parked in my garage locked, unregistered and uninsured so I have no way of making an insurance claim. It wasn't even a week after they "fixed" my bike that they told me the parts had been thrown out. The BBB in our state does absolutely nothing to help people. I have been trying to get my bike back since August. I hate lawyers! I should have filed a claim with the BBB already anyway, but I'm doing that right now. Any other advice? |

Don't forget to post dealer information so the rest of us can avoid them. If BBB doesn't fix it, like the guy said above, see a lawyer. |

Ray has the right of this - without a work order signed - they sit in very grey territory - this is deffinately a legal mater - even legal aid would point you in the right direction - you deffinately have a case though. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Lawyer? This is perfect for a small claims court deal. No offense to those run over with no skidmarks but lawyers do not make the world a better place. Get all your ducks in a row and take 'em to small claims if the BBB doesn't get things resolved. -Saro |

I hope every bodies out riding safe - lol - and enjoying the time they have to ride! I've been having nothing but fun myself! Has anybody noticed the plethora of kids with superbikes? Its getting erie here in the Bay Area - SF. Everyday another kid gets hurt or dies out here. Our insurance rates are skyrocketing! Jeez - what are people telling these newbe's - Yea kid no problem - their as easy as a scooter - lol - I don't know, but the statistical rate is growing and the majority of the demographic is people under 25 on supersport bikes - maybe we need better schools or graduated licensing? I dunno - maybe by age or advanced classes? Still theres all the legal angles of such a thing - yet still something needs to be done to help prevent these deaths and preserve our rights as riders. Hmmm.. Just thinking. Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

I'm riding, but not safe. I had a little boo boo sunday. I'm fine nothing is broken on me just sore. I'm glad I had my full leathers on. The bike is fine for the most part. Busted mirror, turn signal, and shift linkage. My crossroads bars didn't get a mark on them plus there still straight, and my Banke rearsets took the beating they always take. Buckinfubba let me steal the linkage from his XB to get me home. I fell we need to adopt the same laws most of Europe has for motorcycles. You start small and slowly work your way up to the bigger bikes. Then you'll always have people like me that will push the smaller bikes past there limit. Eric edited by spooky on November 04, 2003 |

Yea - but thats the fun of the small bike - pushing it to its limit. I agree on the Euro thing - perhaps 3 yrs at 500cc and under and then allow for the ridding of the bigger bikes - at least that way the Squids would have some time under their belts and hopefully be less likely to kill themselves - also the majority of fatal accidents happen to riders with less than 3 yrs riding experience - so perhaps it would help that statistic lower also. Hmmm - now how do you turn stuff like this into law? Well - its good to know your o.k. as my friends are always telling me (for simular reasons) - Rubber side down! Damn it! Got thump?! I believe in japan they have a step program that starts them out UNDER 250cc. And they have some might fast 250's there too. And if I recall, their insurance goes insane if you try and insure anything over 500cc. I read all this a while ago, and I'm not sure if they still have this. But in Japan and some Euro countries the big bikes have power limiters, sort of like a governer. But more like a restricter plate I'm guessing? But who needs all that power, unless you are racing, it's pointless. Light weight and great handling are whats more important on the street. And the Buell has all you'll ever need. |
