the front wheel and brake are together. the shifter is assembled. and you cant see it in this picture but the top motor mount is ready to be welded togehter. if you look closely it has marked its territory on the floor. |

Could you give us a spec drawing on thickness, lengths, bends/angles, distance apart, - that type of thing on the top motor mount. That would be very useful information to others as well. EZ |

I'm curious to hear the total weight when you're finished. So far, you have me intrigued with this project. |

tried to get a good picture. the oil lines are done. I have left a little room for flex for now. later clamps to space the lines adn keep them from rubbing will be installed. also the slack will be removed once the travel of the swing arm is figured. the fittings are a pipe thread fitting with barbes for the ruber line. found at napa for about 4 bucks apiece. |

How far do you think you have to go before you can ride it? Looks like all that's really left is the details. Did you figure out the top mount? You gonna use the VIN from the engine, or the frame? |

Mounting stuff takes time, but it is a good question? Starting to look really tight. EZ |

hopefully this weekend i will finish the much talked about top mount, get the belt installed adn start to fabricate a mount for the tensioner. then comes teh final positioning for the wire harness, a battery ( at 70 bucks a piece ), teh fuel pump wiring and mounting and plumbing, and the exhaust fabricationg. not to mention all the little things like running cables, setting tensions, filling oil , cheching tourques, and overall just making sure teh damn thing doesnt come apart when I take it around teh block. so I would guess a few weeks or so untill it really comes together. |

We expect a complete ride report, and a detailed report with pictures, specifications & price breakdown of the build. I'm getting giddy thinking of building 1 for myself just for the track. |

Would starting with an XB case make things any easier? Rebuild the crank with a single rod and block off the rear cylinder or is there more to it than that? |

Nik- that idea was kicked around a few times but I had a blast motor from an idea for a kickin gokart but a frame presented itself adn this idea was put into action. So teh short of it is that a working xb could be converted to a single with relative ease. But why would you do that? a used xb is what $3500? total so far is right around $2000, with a final goal of 2500 or less. also blast motors are cheap compared to xb motors. you could sell the xb motor and buy almost all the stuff for this project if you wanted. just some things that have crossed my mind. (Actally when I called buell customer service they actually sugested starting with an xb!) as far a pricing and a ride report, a spread sheet will be posted for the parts needed for this version and time it actually took etc. and the ride report hopefully a few local buellers will take it out for others opinions. and depending on when it gets done a few track days. I dont know really. by the way the drive belt is mounted. I will be working on a way to tension it this weekend. |

Looks like a road trip to ND is in order. I would love to pilot it around a little as I would really like to build one myself for a track ho! Nice progress and good luck finishing it! Did you ever figure out the BAS issue?? |
