Damn I was lookin to spend about 300 maybe 400... can some one make me a list with part numbers if possiable of what shifters I need to buy to make my own and what years and kinda bike there off... and a link to the template.... cuz I can't spend 500+ right now on that.... and its not worth it to me either. Also is it true I need to drill and tap some cover on the bike? Or is there a way around that.... thanks chris |

Its all right here. I could go and search, read and find it, but so can you. Seriously. The hole to drill and tap is easy. If you go too deep you'll still be okay but you'll have to use sealer on the bolt. Use 1/4 Blast brake lever bolt and spacer. |

They would only work if you either buy tube frame peg mounts or just use the pegs alone (without the bases). It actually looks as if the little bolt would bolt to the rearset plate, but in actuality that bolt holds the foot peg on to the mount so you can easily and cheaply replace destroyed footpegs. The tube frame Buell mounts are held on by a 1/4 inch bolt, but the mount also fits in a machined square in the frame. You can buy solid mount non folding pegs from Pro Tek or Lockhart Phillips as well as a nice folding set from Lockhart Phillips. As much as I'd like to see you use American Sport Bike your set up will become a little complicated using those linked pegs. American Sport Bike might sell solid mount pegs. Look to spend upwards of $50 for most aluminum pegs (pr). Other rubber ones are available as well as some cheap aluminum pegs (do an e-bay search for Anderson pegs/ footpegs/ folding footpegs/ rearsets /and rearset pegs/ or call/email American Sport Bike). |

You'll also need to get all the prospective bolts available at a good hardware/bolt supply place. I dont list them because in my opinion its just easier if you go buy all the bolts and customize where you want (allen head, hex head, nylocs, washers, stainless steel, black etc). Using the Blast brake pivot sleeve with a 1/4 inch bolt leaves more room for error and the ability to drill and tap it oversize (to the XB 5/16" size bolt or bigger) in the event of a 'spill'. If you have access to a fax I'll send you the XB parts list. My fax/scanner is 'down'. PM me your phone # if interested. (Message edited by gearheaderiko on June 13, 2008) |

Ill have to give you either my works or my moms works. Cuz I don't myself.... as for the hardware I have it all here at work (work in a machine shop) so I can get it for free. I'm still kinda confused on the peg thing.... maybe I'm just stupid and shouldn't be making these.... (making it harder then it is) but I don't get why if I make the rearset plates... why thoes back pieces won't bolt up |

I was confused too. The piece that looks like it fits the footpeg is actually part of the footpeg assembly they show just above the mount (see part#16067). The actual footpeg is a hollow tube with a hole at the end, somewhat like the grinder pegs (or passenger pegs) that fit on the axle of a BMX bicycle. A set of aluminum pegs (like shown in my pic) can be had for $18 plus shipping. If you want Buell pegs, new is going to be close to $100 or more. Depends if you want rubber or aluminum. Rubber is cheaper and better in the rain. I've gotten tuber Buell peg assemblies off e-bay and the Badweb classifieds. Sometimes very cheap. |

Sorry my bad, tuber buell footpeg mounts part# 50509-94YA are $8 each. That brings the price below $100. Rubber pegs are $12 each. Part#'s 50785-98Y (left) and 50786-98Y (right). They are listed as discontinued, but may still be available or as another part number. That puts genuine Buell footpegs at well below $100, unless you want aluminum (see the Buell website for genuine aluminum Buell race pegs)! |

OK, I'm full of crazy ideas today...Here is the question...anybody ever see or hear about rearsets that are integrated into the kickstand mount instead of plates that bolt to the engine?? If it can be done, it would be very easy to access the primary cover..may be a good project for the fall when my work slows down some..I'm too dang old to be up half the night fiddling with my bike anymore |

Seems like the long way around and unless you ditch the stock kickstand mount, it'd be tough to work around. However once you do ditch the kickstand, its wide open for 'accessories'. We use a 'golden triangle' for the raceBlast kickstand (the exhaust and bellypan mount to the kickstand bolt holes). |

As you can see - neither set blocks the primary inspection cover -
maintenance is a snap. The Banke are down right comfy and good handling with the right pegs - lol - and the Crossroads just look bad - in a good way - and you'll never scrape them;0) EZ |

I'm slowly but surely gathering parts for the rearsets...scored a complete XB shifter set the other day...been fiddling with a spare kickstand mount...and dug up some footpegs from the spares bin...and just ordered a brake line...maybe in a couple of weeks... |

I have the beta system almost done...it still retains the stock kick stand and has pretty good lean angle clearance (can be improved on some)(at least as good as stock). Cuts quite a bit of weight off the bike..and looks pretty clean...all i need to do is mount the master cylinder and brake pedal and take it for a test ride...more info as it becomes available. |

I'd like to see pictures, too! How hard would it be to keep the rear foot pegs? I have a whole package of Dremel cut-off discs! |

Naustin did a Banke set up, cut off the rider arm - leaving just the passenger pegs - looked real nice!

I went for a test drive yesterday evening...works pretty good. Been a long time since I have ridden anything with rear sets...I used the stock rear brake pedal...it needs to be shrunk up a bit or replaced with a new fabbed one or maybe something else. |

I'm thinking about adding an XB shifter to the stock set up. It does shift that much better.1st to 2nd grind almost disappears! The Banke shifter was even nicer since it rode on bearings rather than bushings. |

EZ...I THINK I sent you some pics of the bike...I'm such a moron about I.T. stuff..my home computer got lightning struck...and the work computer I used is restricted...I will be checking back here tomorrow...I went to the Buell shop today for supplies and looked at a lightning rear brake pedal...looks like one will work with the new setup...shorter and more offset to the inside....so I ordered one...we will see how it goes. |

From the pictures it looks stock, nicely hidden and you kept the front sprocket cover, rarely done. Gas tank trim ring |
