My fiancee is getting a Blast for her first bike but she is in love with the Cherry Bomb 12Scg -- a way to combine the two would make me a happy camper. A XB5Scg would be the perfect fix (I would probably "borrow" it occasionally too). Why doesn't Buell offer one of these -- would be a great entry level bike! Can't wait to see more pics! |

just got a call from Matthias. not sure when he will be able to get back on here. he has 1 1/2ft of water in his basement, which means the computer, water heater, and all his tools are under water. said it only got up to the bottom of the case on the motor though so atleast there is a little bit of good news. so he has some other work ahead of him and the bike is going to have to take a bit of a back seat for awhile. figured i'd give everyone a heads up since he doesnt have computer access at home for now. |

no pics yet but progres has ben made with the wires and what goes where. looking for an ignition switch, adn a rear brake light. after that its tires, belt and fuel pump. I am going to use a pump from napa that is made for a car with a carburator. it is rated at 1.6 psi with variable flow rates adjustable with a screw driver. also it comes with the relay and the wires to just "drop it in". I will be running the hose out from the frame drain hole for now. later I will make a plate to replace the xb fuel pump. or just switch over to fuel injection that is all. |

Ok , so I got my hands on a blast book from NORICE. it helps a bunch. the wire harness is draoped over the bike with all the neccesary connections made. I am going to mount the guages( stock blast ) this week. and hopefully start to hang the harness where it will be permently. I will also be posting pictures of the completed top motor mount. the bar switches and throtle are mounted with pictures to follow. also the rear shock reservior is mounted in its permanent position. I am using my work computer to post this and hopefully I will have internet at my house by the weekend. |

I have personally enjoyed your thread. I believe you are building something that many have asked for. Despite your current situation you continue to build still. I applaud you and your project. Thank You for a great project to follow and continue to roll ahead! Have a great 4th! |

Same here for interest in your project, along with best wishes for putting everything back in order after flooding. There are several of us seriously contemplating an XB thumper project! |

You know, if the process could be standardized it would be a decent business model -- personally I would be interested to see what the cost breakdown would be. I figure there has to be enough parts out there to do the conversions -- and why the heck isn't Buell listening to us and making a XB5 gawd darn it! Can't wait to see more! |

sorry to tell yall, my camera has come down with a case of the cold. I may not be able to post pictures for a while. such a pain, the bike is coming along well enough. I will take the sd card home and use the computer there. when the bike is completed I will post a break down of what i paid along with the amount of time for each item on THE LIST. the people here definatly keep me going on this project. |

lots and lots of zip ties! no rice and I are working on that issue. either i am going to use click studs or the buell supplied fasteners. we shall see. I am selling a seat to buy a belt for this bike. after that things should move along quicker than right now. |

just to clear something up I have no more money! . no seriously I need to sell beg and borrow for the remainder of this project. I have spent 1792 dollars so far and I will to the best of my ability not go over 2000! so if you can see something that will save me money LET ME KNOW! also all of my powertools that were in the basement are toast! so all of my fabricating work must be done by hand for the most part. I am still having a ball with this project, I dont want to give the wrong impression. |
