Thanks for the comments. This little bike has been a b%^&h at times, but if feels good to get some complements. S&S does not seem to be interested in the Blast although a couple other employees have them and are making modifications. I had a S&S carb on it, but could never get it to run right on this engine. The S&S roller rocker arms, valve springs, and cams are pretty much bolt in. The head required a custom bracket to replace the tie bar mount on the stock head. The piston is pretty much obsolete from S&S. I have the last couple standards, though there are a few over sizes left. The rear sets are Crossroads. They are pretty well designed, but maybe a little flimsy. They flex around a bit.

Jeff, What does the tie bar bracket bolt to? Got any pics of it? James |

Maybe I should patent it! No one here would steal my idea though. Just kidding. I mounts to the breather bolt hole on the right side of the head and then works its way around and mounts to the bolt hole that normally is the "head to head" mounting location on twins. It is one bent piece of steel and one flat piece welded together. I don't have any pictures. Sorry.

Thanks Jeff. Saro, sound familiar? Saro and I (okay, mostly Saro) have been trying to figure out an easy way to mount an XB head to the Blast. James |

The XB head can be done with the same type of bracket. You just need to tap a hole where the EVO breather hole normally is. I wasn't planning on selling it yet, but I have everything you need (except the bracket) to put the XB head on. Even a cool Wiseco race piston that weighs the same as the blast, but has a high comp. XB chamber. I would sell it for what I paid for the parts. They are all brand new. I would just need to add up what I paid for the pieces. Jeff |

Jeff- That's EXACTLY how I'd pictured fabbing up such a bracket. Cool. Only hangup WRT XB heads is that the Legacy (not stock anymore!) breather hole isn't drilled / tapped. No biggie at all. Any interest in making one up for me? Don't know if it'd make sense time / $ wise. Lemme know. -Saro |

If I made a few of these (10?) I would say maybe $40 a piece. I could even powder coat them. Jeff |

Jeff- I could pay the $40. I don't know if 9 others would too, though! Ping me offline if anything materializes. -Saro |

Am I correct in reading that the bracket will work on the stock set-up? (I got lost in the shuffle) If it does work with the stock set up then I will be going with the pro series intake and a "Bailey Bracket"!! Sign me up too Jeff!

FWIW, our Blast has been running around for a few weeks (should be over 1,000 miles now) with NO carb bracing and a Pro Series intake. So far, so good. When I was having problems I was pushing In on the intake with my knee - and my brace wasn't set up to handle force in that direction - only in the plane of vibration. I've been sitting further up (knee ahead of the intake) and no problems. Not sure how Loli's riding position jives with that. -Saro |

Yo, If you all want to know, I'm currently running an XB head with some of Brian's best work. A "Hurricane" piston, And otherwise the simular to Aaron's Blast last year. Not the same exactly, but simular. The motor was Rack solid and thanks to Nallin Racing, was capable of obtaining the records. I'm only changing the dome height and cams to make it streetable. Did I say Nallin Racing ROCKs, if not they do. They have done everything in my wildest imagination to make this motor a powerhouse, and Succeeded. The XB head in no way uses the stock isolator mount, but it is very doable. Not a great stretch of the imagination. I'm running a very workable version, that is easily reproduced. Ray |

There is no bracket for the intake. The muffler is a Vance & Hines. It is very loud.

Philly, You mean this decal? EZ, This cams were N-9's like in Aaron's old Blast, the exhaust was a shorty custom made job for racing. To be honest the motor surpassed my expectation out on the salt but was set up for racing and would not be a good choice for street use. In fact it is at the shop now getting de-tuned for better streetability. Here's a couple more pics for you guys. Ray |

hehe, Rays Blast ran like snot out on the salt. I was right behind him at the starting line for one of his backup runs in the AM and man, it just shot off the line, rooster tail flyin', I swear even with the hack it looked like it was pulling faster than a stock Blast. Bouncing it off the rev limiter in 5th all the way down the mile is both a testament to the power in that little thumper and the quality of components and workmanship that went into the beast to keep it in one piece. Especially when you consider that Ray's rev limiter wasn't set at the factory level Great job, again, Ray. |

Philly is right that lil ol Blastard pulled down the salt like a freight train. The first run was with the 73 tooth rear and it was too high to pull in 5th but made the run in fourth still doing 98+ mph. Changed to the 80 tooth and was able to pull clean to the rev limiter in 5th. When in full tuck the window of sight is very small something like 1" high and 6-8" wide. All you can see is white, white and more white. In your peripheral vision you can see the course flags just well enough to tell which mile you are at. A very strange but exciting feeling. When we tore it down to be measured and to confirm the records the inerds looked perfect. No signs of wear or trouble. Nallin racings work was first rate all the way. If any of you want work done, these guys are the best IMHO and will work with you to find the power where you want it to be. Ray |

Installed the WB exhaust today - 23 discs, no torque cone, and the sound was a deep base tone to the Bub's baratone - both are great sounds - cleaned up and added a fresh coat of 1200 deg. ceramic paint to the Bub and installed it on the red - the throttle response was crisp and brisk bringing a smile to my face (memories of old Vader) the airbox mod makes the engine exhaust sound echo just a bit - cool! Two sweet rides! Ray - so what exhaust and intake are you going to use after the rest of your engine is civilized - lol - Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

EZ, Who said anything about civilized, just streetable. I'm currently planning on running a "Bub" a Pro-Series intake and XB Cams. The XB cams had a very nice curve on the dyno during testing. |

The Bub's actually quieter than the WB - enjoy! How do you check fume sniffing on a WB/Supertrapp type exhaust - lay the sensor on top of the discs? Do I have to remove the cap? Dynos next week so any help would be appreciated. Sounds like you'll be cooking with steam heat! Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Ed, Supertrapp say to check the color of the disks. The disk should be a gold color for a properly tuned engine. The disks on mine are black at this time. The bike seems to running rich at idle. I'm running 45/170 jets and 18 disks. Took the bike down to Tilley's on Friday, didn't have time to dyno it. I was helping Brian out with some other things. Eric |

True - but I'd really like the sensor to sniff - so anyone know - do you put the probe on the discs? It would be the same as putting it to opening of a regular exhaust? GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Ed, you are going to have to drill a hole in the end just big enough for the sniffer to fit. With the extra disk I bet your getting pretty close to the rear tire. Might want to talk to the guys at the dyno before you do anything. Eric |
