Jm..Yo!..So I finally had to turn my Jardine to the Left side and see what will happen. Well...!! It turn out that you were right. The pipes was better, and the air seems to flow better also. I still do not know why Jardine want to put the pipe on the left side, but the only reason I could think of is that it will give the Exhaust a better opening for air flow to the right side. It would seem that this set up give will angle the pipe out a little more. I got my silencer today so I will put it on the blast this weekend. Ed...! I took the blast out finally for a nice ride in the back of the Berkeley hills..and man did she run well with all the new mods. I have never ridden such a fun bike. Not even, when I was riding my Honda GB500 and my friend Norton, back in my 20's, 15 years ago. Saturday was such a great day, so I got up at 6:30AM and rode from Berkeley out the Grizzly Peak down the back side and out to Pinole point. This was a great ride for me in a long time...  | ||

Fasterblaster: Please give a review of the Jardine silencer and how much it changes both performance and sound, and any changes you make to it. Information such as "is it easy to install and remove - something you could pop in for certain times and remove for other times or a permanent installation" is helpful. Of course if the change is drastic, it would not be practical to pop in and remove because of the jetting. It would be especially helpful if you could describe how close to stock noise level it is, before and after using it. Once again, thanks to everyone for the information on the Jardine exhaust.. | ||

The rear tire might interfear with just "popping" it in. You may have to remove the exhuast from the bike in order to get enough clearance to slide it up the tailpipe. :shrug: | ||

Yes, I too am interested in the silencer option (although the sound is growing on me). So definitely post an update as soon as you get it on. Also, glad to hear you got the install figured out. I think moving it to the left side gave you a better connection/seal at the head which accounts for the better airflow.  | ||

Here is the Report on the Jardine Silencer: The installation: A_ you need to take the muffler of the bike. B_ you need to drill a hole in the end of the exhaust to hold the silencer inside. The drilling part is not so easy. There is no room for error, so if you mess up, you are done. C_I had to use my boring machine to line it up, and use two clams to stabilized the muffle. The line up has to be pretty close to perfect for the screw to fit and connect the silencer to the end of the exhaust. The Sound: She sound much better, and more like a lower hum thumper. I said about 20% to 25% less noising. I like it much better, and it is much more relaxing to deal with on a longer ride. The power: There maybe some lost of power in the lower end, but not much to notice, and if you are not racing...? then who really cares... I only took the blast out for about an hour, but over all, the Jardine with the Silencer works really well, and for $37...? It is well worth the price to save your ringing head after a long ride. Hope this will help your decision on the Silencer.   | ||

Oh...yes..onr more thing..I think the cards may need to be re-tune with the silencer install. I notice a poping sound when I got back home and turn the bike off. EZ..does this mean she is running lean..? should I turn it out to 2 1/2 instead of 2 1/4...? | ||

Turn it out to 2 1/2 - if you still get popping 2 3/4 (the setting for the WB and Bub). GT - JBOTDS! EZ  | ||

Is the Jardine exhaust just loud or is it loud and deep like a HD? Is it so loud w/o the silencer you need ear plugs or that it could get you a noise violation? | ||

WOT? I thought WOT was "What" I don't have any issue with loud as long as it sounds good and not just like straight headers on a 4 banger or a hole in the exhaust (just noisy). I'm a firm believer in loud pipes save lives but I also don't want the bike to sound like a lawnmower with a megaphone. The tone of the sound of the Jardine pipe is my question I guess. I'm sorry if this seems like a lot of silly questions it's just a large investment for me atm so I wanna make sure it's exactly what I want. From what I've been told the Jardine is the best opition in that price range but I'll pay more if the Jardine won't give me what I want (a bit more power and a good deep sound that lets ppl know I'm in their blind spot). | ||

WOT=wide open throttle. i didn't like the sound of the the Jardine without the silencer insert...it barks in a manner similar to a blown out V&H. My other (winter) can is a 21disk White Brothers which is loud but deeper. If you don't like the sound you can alway ditch the can and put a SuperTrapp on the header, right now the Jardine has the best header on the market | ||

Ahhh gotcha WOT  WB has been discontinued correct? How hard is the fabrication to add the supertrapp to the Jardine header? That seems like it would be a deadly performance combo (but pricey). | ||

YES the White Brothers has been discontinued. I repacked mine with a ceramic furnace insulating fiber that should last a few 10,000 miles. As for adding another can to a Jardine header it's pretty easy. SuperTrapp sells universal mufflers that will fit on any header, the Jardine is 1.75", you can get muffler straps from NAPA, AutoZone etc to attach to the bike and presto | ||

The D&D can just bolts on and at 200 new - not the whole system, just the can - will bring you to Force like performance and sound;0) as well. GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

Hmmm that sounds like a good long term plan. Start with a Jardine system and then when I have some more spare cash go ahead and snag a STrapp or D&D can and add it to the best part of the Jardine setup, the header. Thanks for the input and ideas guys. | ||

when you get the Jardine in send the header out to get it coated (Jet Hot, Performance Coatings etc) before you ever mount it up | ||

if you are refering to coating a header mine was $30 plus the cost of shipping it there.....$12 I think BTW I used performance coatings (Message edited by Xgecko on June 21, 2007) | ||

Hi, All. I haven't posted here before so I thought I would with a small question. I am getting a new exhaust for my Blast. I had it narrowed down to the Pro Series or the D&D. I find from reading from you good people that the Pro Series will be hard to find so I guess that leaves the D&D. My question is (finally), where would be the best place to get one. Can my local HD get one without charging an arm and a leg. I,ve seen one on line at Exotic Sport Bikes $269 but I really don't like ordering from the internet. Thank you for your time. Stevy | ||

Sorry Stevy I dont know where to get one besides online. Have you tried American Sport Bike ? $269 seems like the going rate for a D&D. Deethe: Wear safety glasses! I have a special tool for that but (without seeing the Jardine headpipe) I would assume to hook the one side of the snap ring under the lip, then work it around (like a piston ring). Wear gloves or be careful. (I'm assuming you cant just slide it on the pipe from the other end) | ||

American Sport Bike does not have a D&D listed for a Blast on there Web site, but Al ,there go to guy, said they can get them with no problem, because they are D&D dealers and I do love run on sentences, because..... | ||

Just snagged a Jardine off ebay for a deal and the ceramic coating sounded like a good investment. Would just like to see how it looks in black first. Was the temp. difference noticeable? When installing I should use the stock lower-front mounting hardware instead of what Jardine supplied. Is there anything else I should do or watch for when installing? Also with the new jardine and no oem cone filter just a stack bootie for filtration is the proper jetting still 45/175? | ||

48/175 or (180 still being tested)- shim the needle 2 #6 washers- there is a big difference when you do that. Just put on that custom header that Terry P gave me with the 3" long coupler and the 4" Supertrapp with 12 discs - quieter but still kicking and it has the clearance I'll need when I put that puppy in the XB frame - I am one happy camper - tommorrow I'll put the Force on the red bike to max her out! With that puppy the 180 may just work out - we'll see. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |
