Makes one wonder if they'll use a harder compound for the factory. |

Which must be a real bargain considering what we get them for. And by harder I did mean cheaper... Still its good news for new Blast buyers. I just hope they dont sour on the mileage they get out of them. |

I just ordered my second MT75 back tire and I am happy to say that I got about 4,000 miles on the first one. Plus, I really love the price of these tires. My friends can't believe that I can buy motorcycle tires for between $50 and $60 each. |

I have been riding with my Pirelli MT75's for about 1,000 miles now and the are super sticky and have improved the ride considerably over the stock concrete feel of the Dunlop. I would really like to go to a larger tire. Has anyone explored what it would take to swap out the wheels as well? Are there any aftermarket wheels that will fit the Blast? Cheers, totolandman |

In short, yes they have and its not worth it. No aftermarket wheels are known to 'bolt right on'. It can be done and there are many ways to accomplish it. If you had access to many bike parts and access to many specs the task would be easier. You can also get the stock wheels made into 17's. Do a search to find info on whose made the conversion. My experience has been (on the track and somewhat on the street), that although the Blast feels twitchy (nimble) going straight and only slightly leaned, lean it over to really corner and it stabilizes out. I couldnt really justify going to the trouble of wider wheels and/or tires. Taller wheels pose some suspension/frame problems as the bike wasnt designed for them. The biggest reason for the change is better rubber and more traction. But having seen some expert riders on the track with wider wheels, it hasnt seemed to give them much, if at all, an edge. I think its mostly psychological (granted, thats a lot of the barrier to going faster). } |

Does anyone have any knowledge with the other two performance series tyres that are produced by Pirelli? The Diablo which is based on the same design as their popular sport bike tyre and the GTS 23/GTS24? I will be trying to decide as to whether or not I go with Metzeler, Continental, or one of these Pirelli's. I like the stock size setup I have they are quite sticky but I want to go with the 110/70-16 and 140/70-16 larger setup. Anyone have instructions or photos of what needs to be done to get the fitment of the larger rear tyre? Cheers, Robb aka totolandman

here's another 140/70s-16 from pirelli: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/5/32/404/5915 /ITEM/Pirelli-ST-66-Touring-Rear-Scooter-Tire.aspx It's the right (over)size, and "S" speed rated, and cheap, but something doesn't look right..? |

Definitely got a 'tractor' look to it. Raised white letters look cool! |

Well 3 weeks with the Diablo on, and no problems. They feel great. My only other tires were the old stock one, so i have no way to compare them to the other brands. You guys puttin high miles on you bike will need to give them a try one day and see what you think. |

On the subject of Pirelli tires...my bike has a new Pirelli on the rear (it was BRAND new when I picked up the bike)but it still had the original Dunlop front. I decided to change the front to the Pirelli since the general opinion is they are pretty good (traction is more important to me than long tread life)...so I called the dealer to set up to have a new tire installed...they didn't have any ...so I asked the shop manager if I got one from another vendor, would he have a problem with me bringing in the wheel and tire and have them mount and balance it? He said there would be no problem at all because in his opinion he SHOULD have had one in stock... I contacted Tires Unlimited...got a good deal on one..I am very pleased with how they handle customers...verification E-mails, etc...and the easiest tracking of the shipment ever...new tire will be here Friday!! I'll be scuffing in a new tire Saturday afternoon |

Tires Unlimited is about 2 miles from my Buell dealer... They actually sent me there when I asked about getting a rear puncture plugged. |

I have never been able to lock up the front brake and skid. The rear tire would come up, but the front tire would not skid. I had a Dunlop, but now I have the Avon AM51. It's almost gone, so I have to find something new. I'd like to just switch to the MT-75, but my Roardider rear has most of its tread and I have another one still sitting on the shelf. |

Fronts usually lock up in a panic stop (as with many bikes). While it could happen with any tire, hard non sticky tires will lock up much easier.(I'm sure thats stating the obvious though). |

Gbaz, Do you feel up to taking some measurements of the Pirelli 140 rear? I'm trying to gather info on the actual shape of various tires when mounted - see the "Wider Wheels" thread in this forum for info on which measurements are needed. |

New tire installed!!! Let the scuffing begin!!! After I removed the old tire and took a close look at it, there was dry cracking down in the tread grooves...the new tire is much softer than the old one according to my thumbnail durometer tester |

Took a nice long ride today...the new Pirelli really works well...The straight line skitterishness that used to happen is virtually gone...a lot more confidence inspiring... |

I have no doupt it is one of the stickiest tires one can use - but its life span is another matter - that is what I am curious about. EZ |

For quite a few years, the only riding I have done is 1/4 mile at a time...other than zipping around the pits on the mighty Z-50. The rear tire on the dragbike had a life of less than 20 under power miles (rides back to the pits were always engine off...towed by someone on the Z-50. I am more than willing to trade tire life for serious bite....I'm too dang old to toss the bike down needlessly |
