LOL - know the feeling - if its down town or below market - I'll disc lock it and if I can lock it to something - hydrant, meter, pole, or the old wheel - helmit - wheel lock up. I feel the same way - if they really want it nothing will stop them - I watched a van pull up to a group of motorcycles outside of the Courthouse and start loading bikes (mine was locked to a meter)- they took 4 bikes and took off - SF may not be violent but there are plenty of crooks here - lol - Got Thump?! EZ, or anyone, - Is there any difference between a STOCK 170 and a DYNOJET 170? My Uncle did say something about jets being different numbers from make to make. It is a brand new jet from Dynojet, the one I have in now. --Nik |

Yes their jets - as I understand it are numbered differently from stock - Kehin jets - I think their numbers generally run the oppisite of stock - this is wrong but you'll get the idea - a stock 170 mabe a Dynojet 155 equivelent - its how they avoid patent infringement - Sorry to say but Dynojet kits are way over priced when all you need is $20.00 in regular parts to achieve the same thing - lol - Got Thump?! Ola All! - A James P. Update! James is still in Iowa - it seems a valve guide (I always recomended changing those and the springs when cam upgrading;0))grenaded - trashing the head - parts to be in today - tommorrow he should be on the road again! In the mean time he is staying with some really nice fellow Buellers (I'm lousy with names and instantly forgot theirs - sorry) and riding the heck out of a dealer loaner S-3 - yeah - he's roughing it! He said he thought about Nallinizing it then but wanted to save that build fun for himself - the extended warrentee is covering everything - so he is making the best of it! I went to College in that area and sugested a few intresting places - but I'm sure from the conversation I had that he's having fun! Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Jprovo is back on the road! The head still never showed up from H-D so we yanked a head off a showroom Blast that we had. So he's off burning rubber towards home. (he did mention that the bike feels kinda wierd compared to the S3 ) Craig Buell Cycle Center

I hope that head was done with loving care - cause he'll be flying back for his Anniversary and it probably won't receive any then - lol - nice hustle in the end even if it meant rebuilding the show room bike later - worked retail a long time - thats a hell of a sacrifice - I'm sure James appreciates it and the use of the S3;0) - Got Thump?!(James got Bat out of Hell Thump!) The Blast dirt tracker with Rich King on board came within a few seconds of winning last night Flat Track race at Hales Corners Speedway. King was Running side by side with the eventual winner whenhis engine let go coming out of turn two on the last lap. He had been swapping the lead a couple of times a lap and it was looking like he had a real good shot at victory whn the thing went south. Too bad. Also too bad the bike gets disguised as a Harley. They put the push rod tubes back on it so it looks more like half a sporty mill insead of a Blast mill. |

EZ, I don't follow flat track much these days but I think that on short tracks most if not all the HD guys are running Rotax powered race bikes with HD on the tank. The exception is King on the Blast. I think the rules acctually limit the bikes on short tracks to 505 cc 2 valves adn 450 cc 4 valves. Even without the rule I think an XR750 would be more bike than you could use on a short track. Some of the guys who run HD on the miles and Half miles run Japanese bikes on the short tracks. Dave |

EZ, It's an old H-D fairing that Air-Tech still handles. Required alot of dremel work to get it to fit correctly. Front mount bolted on either side of fork head through forks and split to either side. Rear mount is 1" strap mounted to rear of oil tank running forward and down. Fairing is then attached with Dzus fasteners. Let's just say the effort was very time consuming and >$700 paint, mounts and all. |

Damn - no wonder we can't get no brand loyalty from the dealers - if they don't even know enough to hotrod a Blast and go with a Rotax instead - geez - next you'll be telling me they can't make them competitive yet they found a way to get 70hp out off a 500cc Aeromichi long ago - and Rays puppy is getting 50hp without even a big bore - you'd think someone would be sending a XB12 crank out to be turned into a single and counterweigted to balance - the wizard Pauter could probably do it for a couple of g's - that would be cheap but he likes challenges and I'd bet he'd eat that one up! Then Nallins 600cc kit - the full on stage 3 and you've gotta be able to whup up on some ass then! Geez - do the Dealers even read this section - DP's ok but I've had to clue them in to a lot of stuff - including overtightening the primary adjustment. It can't be that much harder for them to do that and spending only twice what I spent they could have it all and kick ass - say 5 to 7 g's plus bike set up - thats for new! Thats not a lot of money to get yourself started in to the game - sure spares and upkeep more than double it - still we are only talking the price of one to two Dyna's here - alot less than alot of racing budgets. Just shouts to me of laziness and a lack of dealer commitment. - lol - don't get me started - lol - still I'm happy with my bike and thats all that matters to me, but still I wonder ... I'll leave it alone - but that train of thought does not make me happy! Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

the Blast motor is pretty much not competive againest he full race motors in this class. It has a 55 cc advantage but that is not enough to overcome the extra weight that it carries being a production motor. It was fast at Hales because the track was pretty slick with a very wide groove which made hook up more imprtant than ultimate power. The AMA would need to give it an extra 25 or 30 cc to make able to run with the race motors. |

You mean to tell me you can't bump 70 hp out of a 500cc Blast but they can an Aereomichi - somethings wrong here - GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

70 Hp seems pretty steep for a 500 cc single even with OHC much less pushrods. I have heard of XR600 getting 70, not sure what Aaron gets out of his. Regardless you can always get more power out a OHC than a pushrod motor and when you add in the weight penealty it is tough to be competitive. The roatzx is purpose built race motor and the Japanese motors are all production race motors out fo MX bikes. The blast is a street motor. |

Yea - so is the VW, so is the 350 chevy small block - still don't have me convinced on that the Blast being a street motor so it can't compete. Not really a good arguement - just expresses - never mind - really though Dave there are so many people trying different things to get power out of these motors and the factory buys some of the best examples but none of the knowledge they gain gets passed down and it should, so that the dealers as independants could compete if they chose to do so armed with said paid for knowledge and actually be competitive. Hell any of the good stuff is even slow to find its way to the factory's stuff cause of traditions and styles of doing things in the HD way - lol - Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |
