If it is 2002 or younger, make sure the rocker cover gasket has been updated, or deduct from price accordingly. Otherwise if it runs and stops well - and no leaks - its good - buy it.

Ask if its a Riders Edge Bike (learner/new rider training course bike). While not necessarily bad bikes, they have seen a lot of abuse for their limited mileage and have probably been dropped at least once. Dont pay full market value and if its from a dealer, ask for a warranty to be included. Same applies to a bike with multiple owners (except warranty).

Front engine isolator torn, there is a picture of a good and bad one around here somewhere.....

Front engine mounting bolts on the "Do Not Remove" bracket break, look close...

Rear wheel bearings on the pulley side, for some reason that side goes on the older models.

I am a firm believer that if you wash too much under the seat Water will find its way into the transmission vent tube and make your transmission fluid go bad. If at all possible check the fluid, if not before you buy it then immediately after. Washing too much is a Newbie trick.

I think I'll have to eventually (if EZ doesnt beat me to it) pick the best, or most common things to look for and post them at the top.
Some things will be much more prevalent or easy to spot. I dont think anybody new to Blasts (or bikes) will be able to see a torn isolator and its not as common as say bent Y-frames.
But keep those posts coming!

Tips on how to see if a 2000-2002 Blast still has the paper rocker cover gasket. If it is it will surely leak. One thing definitely to look out for when buying an early Blast (Only the early 2002 models use the paper gasket)

Not Blast specific, but very useful info. I used it when I bought my Blast.
