Dear Rebelgtp, here are some photos of bikes that are setup for racing in the same class as that fellows. All this follow the same basic mods... nothing all that exotic- not even factory H-D.

Hey guys
Okay so since you all were very helpful before i thought that i will try again. Now my blast and i had a little run in ( with another rider) and now i think that i may have to paint my baby, and i need to get a new brake pedal and new peg. Now has anyone have any good ideas about paint? or where to look for new pegs? Something different?
Thanks Much

Unlesss I'm mistaken, you're pretty much stuck with the stock pegs. I don't think that anything else just bolts up. They shouldn't be too much $$ from the dealer.

On paint, if the scratches aren't too deep, I'd take some polishing compound and 1000 grit sandpaper, and sand the scratches out. Anyone who does paint work should be able to help you to get minor scratches out. Of course, I'm referring to the plastic bodywork, the metal components are a different story.

I know quite a few people have actually painted their bodywork, I'll let them chime in.

Thanks to everyone for the info. Now I know that it isn't just the dealer I'm going to, it's everyone. Oh, well.
EZ-where can I find an inch torque wrench? Just go to Home Depot or Orchard, or do I need to order one from a specialty store?

Sears used to - some still do have them, but you may have to go to a tool specialty store - in Cali - Post tools, an option. - If you don't mind waiting - corral the Home Depot tool guy and have him special order one from one of his vendors, it takes a while so be prepaired to waite, but this way but you save money - lol - most specialty tool shops sell them or can get their hands one if your in a rush - and we always are;0) Got Thump?! Sears still has inch lb torque wrenches.
Usually around $50 on sale.

For the inch-pound torque wrenches check with a local NAPA dealer, they should carry S-K Wayne tools and they sell a fairly decent one.

You two need to relax - he brings an honest - if not always right - voice to the board and has a demonstrated knowledge - Both of you'all need to keep personalities out of it and enjoy what this board has to offer - a depth of Buell single knowledge and good people willing to help each other out, and to press the envelope in trying to increase the fun/performance of our single. I - for one - try to hit both - if only to be up on everything Blast related, and help where I can. I feel the BADWEB to be superior because the depth of the people here who love their bike. To give the group its due - it is the newbe (who survives of course:0))who will often discover something new and they usually find the group first - of course always the people who show up here are in the end people who really appreciate the Buell single and want to meet others who feel that way. All of us have formed a community within the larger one - the BADWEB. For those that only surf the Thumper section - your doing yourself a great injustice - never will you meet a more colorfull, cantankerous, yet still dare I say it - brotherhood of people willing to help other people with education, challenge, and just as often with humor. People who share a common passion - Buell - and are willing to share of it. This not a common thing - I hit a lot of Boards and this sort of thing is really very rare.

Each is an excellent foil for the other - you just don't see it - sigh - boys will be boys!

Actually I believe the disclaimer for legitimate anonymous posting is to have a valid reason for posting anonymously. For example if I found out the company I worked for was having some parts made at the same place that either Harley or Buell were having some parts made and if I had some legitimate reason to counter-argue a point made about upcoming models of bikes I could maybe get away with posting anonymously. But if I caught Erik picking his nose while on a tour at the Buell plant or getting into an argument and I wanted to post that story I would probably be outed for anonymously posting that (by the way, none of these things have ever been observed by me).

As far as this site being communistic, that couldn't be farther from the truth. Even on the dark side there be some light, argh.

For those of you who don't know the troll in the pic, he/she/it (nobody's been nervy enough to find out, it's just safer to assume it's a he) lives under the brige between the two Buell buildings.

EZ proves his metal as the Thumper Admin. Way to go bro. thumbsup

I just can't fathom why someone would want to support yahoo and all their sponsors instead of a dedicated not for profit Buell forum and it's top shelf Buell related sponsors. Makes NO sense to me. Must have something to do with egos.

I beg to differ - I happen to belong (perhaps not actively but if you check the members list I'm sure my name is there - lol)to practically every Buell group out there. Every one of those groups has a link refering to the BADWEB - the BADWEB is the institution of higher Buell knowledge and all things Buell. The Thumper group actually does this board a service by refering a lot of new people here. About 80 percent of the people who post here came here thru that group refering to the BADWEB and oft times recomending this Board. What is also funny to me is that I'd say about 35% of your larger Buell readers were also refered to this board by that group.

I really see no ego in this, the groups are no competition to BADWEB and in their own way actually do us a service thru referals.

Its never really been about sponsors - though I appreciate ours - its been about information and enthusiasm of ownership. A person does not go to a Yahoo or lycos , or other group to suport their sponsers but only to learn about the information that group holds. Almost always - as the saying goes about all roads leading to Rome - all information about Buells will lead you to the BADWEB (why Buell themselves do'nt have us as a link is beyond me - lol). I for one am not going to put down the hand that led me here and to meeting everyone here. Besides when I want to know if the teal jacket matches the red bike, or race to locate a obscure part/item - I'd ask them - when I really want to learn more about my bike and have fun doing so - which is most the time - I'll reside here as I've always done. I know that doesn't sit with you a 100%, however it is the truth as I see it.

Hi all, my name is Brian but my friends call me newt. Been lurking for a little while. I think I may have found here what I was looking for in other places. Hope to be accepted by all and become a contributing member. My '03 Blast is my 21st motorcycle in 28 years, but only my 3rd Thumper. Had a stock BSA B-33 for awhile, and the one before the Blast was a high compression Yamie TT in a trackmaster frame. Not a newbie, but know I don't know everything (or anything at times LOL). Having worked on bikes for a living for a bit more than 8 years I reckon I may know my way around a wrench. Look forward coming here and seeing what ya'll are up to.

fairweather,
I don't "fear" yahoo. I just don't want to support them, nor do the BadWeB sponsors who foot the bill to keep this site afloat. You made it personal when you came here posting anonymously advertising another forum. Personally I find the yahoo forums crude and cumbersome and the amount of personal information required to gain access ridiculous. You can rationalize it any way you like. The bottom line is that yahoo forums and the use thereof supports yahoo, a big for-profit business, no one else.

One man's opinion - I'm sure there must be profit for them somewhere, but its not from me. This is America - so if there is a profit to be made ... and by that same token ... hey if its free...

When all is said and done the real bottom line is that the groups/clubs/boards are all sources of information on the topic of our choice.

Yea - yahoo groups are free and cumbersome, etc but ya get what you pay for and make due with grace. Information is information.

Then you have the Super Boards - Beginner's Bike's,SACBORG,BARF,etc. - there are alot of these and the quality of their operation is not denied but that is that. very entertaining and sometimes informative but little else.

Finally - There are the few places like the BADWEB - informative, friendly, and personable.
I've made friends here and even though my chances of meeting even a a good percentage of you are slim to none still you are friends in my life I have made.

Enuff said - its time to be Blasting!;0)

I'm here because Erik Buell made a machine that is totally fun to ride and that I'm having a ball tinkering on! Yup! I am a Blastaholic! - lol -

Free? Some poor guy was posting on the Yahoo Buell group about "stuff coming out his breathers that smelled like gas" and people were immediately leading him down the road of pulling his engine apart, or spending thousands at a dealership.

Not to say he might not have had a serious problem, but based on the information he gave, it was WAY early to be tearing down an engine. There were two of us saying "umm... maybe you should get a leakdown test before you totally take apart your engine", and asking "exactly how much stuff do you get out under what conditions". Everyone else was spouting all sorts of stuff that ranged from ignorant through stupid, and all of which was really expensive.

Free indeed....

The information is free....

However you get what you pay for. Some of it will be good information, some will not. Anything free you need to take with that proverbial grain of salt.

The ability to pick the good information from the bad....that is priceless.

As I read some of the posts in the different boards, I wonder if we don't have a generation of enthusiasts whose motorcycling relationships are confined to the significant other, the dealership and the computer. I learned alot from other riders when I first started out, in fact I still do. That learning curve was priceless. And in time allowed me to make decisions about other riders opinions and skills, or lack of them (hence the grain of salt). I think we should "adopt" new riders in our areas and encourage them to seek out riding partners. Motorcycle passion is sweeter when its shared!
Hey, anyone know of some good books that deal specifically with 4 stroke single performance theory? Not too concerned with pictures and math is ok

Dude,
Take an anger management course. It is obvious to the most casual observer that whatever reference to the Yahoo board that started all of this, was not welcomed by the moderator(s). Given that, you are not going to change their minds by continuing the discussion online. Let it go and email them. You are just wasting board space.
fwiw, the yahoo board was first Blast board I found and I personally didn't like the board (the people seem fine). Yes, there was a link here, which I followed and found a place I like. Had that link NOT been there, I would not have returned to Yahoo.
The sad part about all of this, there was a newbie (newer than me even), Newt, that posted here and got lost in this mess.

Lastly, the moderators do not have to step forward and take any credit for this. Nor does the reason have to be good. Yes, it probably is deleted. Go ride your motorcycle, scrape the pegs some, release your frustration, and be happy! It's not hard. :)
