Has anyone tried taking there stock bars off and turning them over and pushing them forward, so that they resemble clubman bars. I think it may work but I hate to waste my time if someone else has already wasted there's and is willing to share. |

Yes. Its in the archives somewhere but it'll be too far forward or down. You can do the same thing with a cheap set of Chapparell superbike (or other) bars and achieve much better results. The last person I remember doing it is Naustin. Click on his name a few posts up and send him an email. |

I just installed my new bars. I purchased Renthal Ultra Low bars. Same width as stock but a lot lower 2"rise and only 3.5" back I believe. They are really comfortable on the bike. I needed to move the cables around a bit to reduce binding, especially in the clutch cable. I'll adjust the length of the cable later. I did have to purchase the Renthal kit to mount my bar end mirrors. The inside diameter of the aluminum bar is much smaller then the OEM bar. |

"Hello All, I am new to the website. I bought a 2001 Blast with 3700 miles. The first change I did was to remove the Larger Buell windshield and change the stock bars to superbike. Pics to follow." (Sorry- noob here and I can't figure out how to quote on this board.) I was JUST about to order a pair of black Superbike bars from Chaparal, but I noticed that none of them have the crossbar like yours do. Where can i find that type? Thanks- |

ok so i have some superbike bars on the way. and i have read several methods of mounting the bars. whats the prefered way, sanding the mounting points or using one wrap of sandpaper on the bars to help lock them in the clamps? ive also been on this anti bar vibration kick, and had this lil idea, i think it been done, of when i mount the bars in the clamps to wrap them once or twice with this rubber i have, i have some 1/16 thick 3/4 wide rubber tape but its not sticky. good idea or bad? its easy to try so i just might! No sanding is necessary and nothing should placed in the clamps except the handlebars (they will slip if you do). ok so i have asked around and i see alot of others have too! i kow many will suguest the superbike bars, wich is proably smart. but im hard headed and like the very agressive look! lol i like the clubmans and the drag bar. clip-ons are very nice but way to expensive! so thats out of the question. i saw a few people had the crossroads set up wich is the big alum plate with the set screws and the 2 bars, but where does the break fluid resivor go? as i work in a machine shop it seams like i could make that set up fairly easy, esp if someone could take some measurements of theres and post em up.... basicly is it worth the work to try and make my own? only problem i see is that there needs to be some welding done (the part the tubeular bar slides into) and i dont weld but it shoudnt be a big problem. how much does crossroads want for that set up? thanks chris |

Welcome Rockstarblast1! Crossroads=$200 Drag bars and clubmans have clearance issues. The Crossroads dont. Reservoir is attached to the brake lever assembly. You could make your own, which is time consuming and I'd make sure you do it right. Handlebar breakage can be very scary! Clip-ons and Crossroads can sometimes be found on e-bay cheap. Risers (see above) can help with some clearance issues related to using certain bars. Other risers are available. So do you want bars now or later (if you make your own)? |

in the near future.... i have all winter to get everything together... with the dragbar and clubman. what kind of clearance issue's will i have besides not being able to lock the bars? also i thought i liked the clubmans but one pic i saw they were angled WAYYYY down and if thats the only way tomake em work idk if i want to do that. i still really like the drag bar tho.. but im having problems picking more then just bars! lol i still dont even know if i should get the v&h exhust or the jardine or what! haha |

Clearance problems are usually locking issues with the controls hitting the tank. Drag bars can be turned 45 degrees upwards and will clear and lock. I dont think its at all possible to lock clubmans. Some bars, like the adjustable Laverda's, will hit in the center, depending on where its adjusted (2 spots out of 360 clear). Some grinding increases the range of adjustment. So does cutting (and welding) about 2 inches from the center of the bar. As been said, if this is your first bar change I'd go with the superbike bars (or drag bars). Laverdas are adjustable enough to get them anywhere from superbike to almost clip-ons in adjustment range-but will be $100+. EZ's Teleflex Profi adjustable clip-ons also have a wide range of adjustment, but I dont think they go as high as the superbike bars (EZ?). Low bars look cool, but might be way too uncomfortable. |

The Profi can be made to go as high as 2 1/4" just a 1/4" lower than super bike - lol - just add two tall spacers. I run mine at 1 3/4" height. EZ |

If you cut 1 1/2" off each end of the super bike bars - they become even more functional and look almost as good as my clip-ons. EZ |

Most drag bars had locking issues, so I didn't experiment with them, however, Tony did, he tried practically everything, and then went back to super bike bars. EZ |

I dont think you can cut anything off the drag bar since they have to be turned up at 45 degrees just to lock/clear the tank. Shorter would make it worse. Unless you add risers. I did run drag bars for a year or more.I had the bars in my hands less than an hour ago. I believe it was a Flanders bar. Laverdas are really the best of both superbars, drag and clip-ons. If you dont glue the grip you wont have a problem getting it on and off. Bar ends can help keep the grip on as well as safety wire. I'm guessing you wont need either unless your grip is in poor shape. Keep in mind the switch housings have locator nubs on them that fit into holes in the handlebars to keep them in place. If they havent sheared off they most certainly will with new bars. Dont bother drilling the holes. Cut the nubs off and use a strip of duct tape around the bar instead. |
