Saro just replaces a neutral indicator, maybe he'll post what tools he used. I think He just kept the rear wheel from turning to remove the nut without having the sprocket spin. James |

While I'm at it. I've got a neutral indicator that indicates neutral in all gears ... sometimes ... ugh. Hard to trouble shoot. If I unplug the connection just above the indicator switch ( not the actual connection to the switch which is behind the sprocket) I get no neutral indicator even when the bike is in neutral. This is what I would expect if there was not a short to ground in the wiring from there back to the speedo. Anybody ever had this problem? The service manual just discribes a problem where you NEVER get a green 'N'. If I read the schematic correctly the switch works by grounding the indicator so a short to ground anywhere could cause this. |

Sounds like you have a sticky switch. James |

Blue02m2- Check out this thread I posted as a SUPPLEMENT to the service manual when I went to change out a friend's neutral switch. The neutral switch is a no brainer. The pulley.... -Saro |

James, Help me with "sticky switch"? I don't quite understand how the neutral indicator switch works but it appears that a pin on the shifter drum contacts something on the switch which provides a path to ground for the circuit containing that my arch nemesis that X%$# green 'N'. I'm not quite sure how the switch itself works or how it could fail ... or if getting smutted up with metal shavings could ground it independent of the pin on the shifter drum. Can you elaborate? |

You got it right ... the neutral "switch" isn't actually a switch, it's just a spring loaded contact. When the roll pin on the shift drum touches the contact, it grounds the line and turns on the light. First thing I'd do: pull the wire off the neutral "switch". Did the light go off? No: the problem is downstream. Yes: the contact is shorted somehow, unscrew it and see what's going on. |

I was thinking that the contact was hung-up in the housing somehow. Does the neutral switch ground path go through the roll pin on the shifter drum or is it simply grounding the lead to the body of the switch? James |

The ground path goes through the roll pin. The neutral switch is just a spring loaded dealie with an insulator. |

That makes it even more confusing as to how Blue02M2's switch is seeing ground. The roll pin seems like a poor ground path to me, relying on friction contact spots for a ground path is usually not a good idea. James

Fellow Blasters, I have two sets of cams for sale left over from my LSR project I'm working on. They are both in excellent shape with a very few hours of running mostly dyno time. 1 set of Andrews B70's ready to install. 1 set of Redshift 567's have been clearanced and also ready to install. Ping me at rgerman@hit.net for pricing and answers to any questions you have. Thought I would offer them to ya'll before they go on Ebay. Ray |

EZ, You know better than that. Let's just say they are great for power, but a bit radical for street use. The two sets above will work for high-end street use. Ray |

Can't blame a guy for trying! - Yes - very true - though I'll still probably upgrade to the XB550 for both bikes - lol - hurry up and set that record - damn it! - certain folks are chomping at the bit to know what your running (me for one!)That dyno is really impressive for any Blast engine - let alone one still running stock piston and juggs! - Some people have all the fun! Hi everyone, I'm Skyler and I'm new to the forum. I've been considering a Blast as my first bike for some time now. I have to take my MSF course before I go shopping but I like the idea/sound/look of the Blast. Again, I'm Skyler, hello! |

Howdy Skyler and welcome to the web-land of all things Buellish in nature - including our favorite Thumper - the Buell Blast - the forums a great place to meet others who also enjoy riding and to learn more about the bike! Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

You seem to be the prominent figure on this website, through my browsing. How long have you owned a Blast? I myself have never owned a motorcycle, but I've laid down my buddy's CBR600 F3 at 10 mph trying to use the rear brake in a corner (novice lack of skill > novice confidence in lack of skill). Something about the Jap bike made me feel weird. I just feel better driving American, and I don't know why. |

Hey Skyler - I'd be the Tim Allen of the Buell Blast world - lol - since March 2001 - on the street - minis and three wheelers as a kid. Alot of family with HD's but I always said they were too heavy - and then along came the Blast - my life changed - even my stocker is fun and I have a lot of satisfaction working on them and personalizing them, but mostly I enjoy riding them - light, great handling, fun! There is a great group of people on this forum and alot of information about anything Buell including the Blast! Enjoy! Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

LBB is back in circulation! The Black Blastard is home and ...drum roll please...is running. All I need to do is clean up the tires a bit (over achieving detailer incident) and I should be rolling by this evening. With a quick note about how all the stock pro-series toys work out. For right now I can say that the Buell Pro-Series exhaust, while it does have more 'snap/crack' than the WB, feels quieter ... maybe it's the dual side turn-outs? to Skyler: welcome to the best place for info on the Blast (IMHO). Also, the MSF course is a good investment. My riding certainly improved after taking it. to LBB: Welcome back! Good to hear that the bike is running again. Also, definitely let me know what you think about the Pro-Series stuff... That's probably where my performance upgrades (on down the road) are gonna come from. |

Hi ya Okay so i bought a 01 blast in May 2002 and it has been in the shop being repaired more than half it's life so far. I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems with there Blast other than the Rocker. Don't get me wrong i love my lil Gizmo but i need to know if i just got the bike that was built on a long weekend friday or if it is normal that the blast breaks down all the time. Thanks |

Heather, Mine's been in the shop for about a month total out of the year I've owned it. I'd say 3 weeks were sitting waiting for parts, and one week was actual "work". The people I know who own Blasts seem to have bikes that are more reliable than mine. If your bike has been in the shop that long you have an anomoly. If Vancouver has a lemon law, I'd be getting a new bike if I were you. Your transmission problems sound crazy, and combining that with the rest of the problems you've had... I hope that everything eventually gets sorted out for you. James |
