There is that XB head for sale. Send it to Nallin and for probably less than $200 they can throw the heavy duty valves & springs in it, fix the plug hole and you'll have a nice flowing big valve head for what the Stage one Blast head will cost. Anyway, it might be too late to change your plans but I thought it might be something to consider if the XB head is still available.(new XB core is about $300,I'm guessing he might let it go for a third of that or ??) PS Westach was scheduled to ship my tach out 10/21/04 (ordered 9/9/04). I've called them 3 times in the last week and they still havent gotten back to me to tell me why I havent gotten it yet. Having my doubts about them. |

LOL - VJB - been there - a stage one set up is basically what I'm running on the Black - I wanted engine longevity to still be a factor (candle that burns twice as bright - lol)- definately an enjoyable difference though - so the Dark side grows Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Old company - dunno - unless there is about a dozen folks ordering the same thing at the same time - lol - then there could be delays - they seemed very nice when I talked to them a year ago - persist and get a person - that always brings better results than messages and such. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

I talked to a live person the first 2 times, the 3rd was the message I left. We'll try again tomorrow. |

Make sure you wire it up right, double check the wire colours before you connect it up. Really! Being colourblind didnt help me there. If you're going by the wiring diagram in the manual, the wire numbers are different at the the speedo and at the harness connector (might be confusing if thats where you splice in at). If you are using the aluminum dash, use windex (glass cleaner)to lubricate the rubber ring so the tach slides down easy, same as it says in the manual for the speedo. Which, if you have a dremel, you can make it rain proof and neat by modifying the original speedo housing for a back cover & hold down. |

Does anyone know if there is a gas cap for the Blast, that you can purchase, that has a fuel gauge on it? Would be nice if it was locking too? |

You can use a 2000 tuber locking cap - though you'd also have to buy a tuber key to make it work - a gas gauge in the cap would be a great idea - patent it and sell! - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

I was also surprised to see no fuel gauge on the Blast, but it seems not uncommon that there isn't one on motorcycles. I track my gas mileage with my trip meter, and that (with a little math) is an easy indication of how much fuel I have in the tank. |

Fuel every hour! You gotta stop sometimes and it might as well be at a gas station. With the Sportster I stop every 70 miles, if I don't I'm on reserve, the only thing I can figure is there must be a ton of Bondo under that pretty paint job! |

Has anyone successfully installed any of the Dakota digital speedos on a Blast? I am in the process of writing up my "wish list" for design mods and I was thinking about going digital with the speedo. Also, along those lines, anyone know if the Dakota digital tachs will work on a Blast? http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=results/Category_ID=235/home_i d=60/mode=cat/cat235.htm Thanks! |

Go, Tony! Mine arrived via USPS in three days flat. Did you pick up a dash? What are you using? I can't imagine riding without my tach -- it gives me a clear understanding of what I can expect in terms of performance at any given moment. Let us know how it goes! |

I picked up a dash from the Ebay guy but it hasn't gotten here yet. When the tach arrives doesn't really matter to me since I will be leaving on travel for a month. Having it come from my local guy serves two purposes 1) I get to have my build my relationship with them (he's my neighbor) and 2) I don't have to pay for shipping. I have a host of things to do to my bike when I return I plan on cleaning up the electrical and maybe even tires. |

Hey everyone. I am sure this info is in an archive somewhere but I am going to ask anyways. Does anyone know if the Gauge Cluster from a Lightning X1 will fit, and operate on a P3? A buddy of mine from work balled up us Lightning last season, and has offered me a parts here and there for my P3. So if anyone has any insight please let me know. |

I dont know of any reason why the electronics wont work (seriously, I dont know-not disagreeing with EZ!). Should be the same basic principles of idiot lights and such. The tack is where the real work is. You'd have to use a twin timing cup so the tach will read correctly, then the rev limiter wont work! (SE ignition could bypass that). Or there are some wiring kits for people who convert to single fire ignition on twins so that the tach will read correctly (instead of half). That might work. There may also be some other 'tricks'. Apparently Buellistic and I have had a lot of the same parts waiting in the stockpile for Blastification!!!! I'd still hang onto those X1 parts even though they wont just 'bolt right on'. How's this for a tach? I need to know--which layout is better? This is just for display. I plan a 4 or 5 digit display. Each dot here is spaced 1/10", center to center. The Project is underway! This:
or this:
I forgot to resize them to scale. The top is just the bottom turned on its side. The Blast will most likely start this weekend! Pictures will follow in the appropriate section. (Message edited by joey on March 15, 2007) |
