Relocating the pegs with brackets is one thing... It's the shifter set-up that makes home-brewed rear-sets a real project. Whats your plan? |

Naustin: When "i" up-dated the foot shifter on my 97S3T it was put away for the BLAST that "i" just bought(plus the foot brake side) ... When the "PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT" is complete pictures will be taken to share ... |

i have a burning question that i haven't been able to find an answer to on bwb. anyone know who manufactures these rear sets that i see in these pics posted: 108239.jpg or 154228.jpg and jeffb's blast posted on friday, september 24, 2004 - 11:22 am. they are all the same so i assume some one makes them somewhere. any info? I like the idea of pegs on the frame instead of on the engine tranny block(less vibrato"s) thanks, kirkerik |

so it looks like they maybe from crossroads but when i check out their site they only have the rearsets that bolt up to the engine block. do they make a set that bolts to the stock frame mount? thanks ez, kirkerik |

They used to make both styles. |

If you're really interested (at $550) I'd e-mail them and see if they have any of the frame mounted left. Though really the engine mounted arent that bad. Hardly even close to the vibrations of an old Harley or Triumph. |

http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/Product.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID= 5&CategoryID=7&ProductID=1316 One of these would work on a Blast as well - the question is - the M2 or X1 - usually I go for the M2 product, however, I read on a different board about the X1 being the better product for the tubers - so perhaps for the Blast as well? "49092-01Y - Fits '99-'02 X1 and '96-'98 S1 and S1W models. 49074-01Y - Fits '97-'02 M2 and S3 models without fairing lowers." for future reference when Buell discontinues listing them at there website Original style S1/X1 linkage goes on sale once in awhile on e-bay, but it seems discontinued from the part numbers I have. |

Are these a bolt on replacement for the blast with rearsets? |

XB linkage: N0320.02A8 SHIFT LINKAGE ASSEMBLY, N0630.02A8A SHIFT PEDAL ASSEMBLY T0225.02A8 LEVER, SHIFT, ENGINE H0503.T BRAKE PEDAL PIVOT SLEEVE Some of the bolts come with the shifter parts. I like using the Blast brake pedal pivot sleeve as it uses a 1/4" bolt, which allows for a little drilling error and retapping if stripped. Sorry, but I dont have the bolt part #'s, I bought mine at the hardware store. Linkage runs about $80 and may be available as a kit. |

Both the S1/X1 late style linkage and XB linkage will require drilling and tapping the primary for 1 bolt. The early style S1/X1 linkage doesnt need the hole drilled. |

Krid80 - no - the XB would need drilling and tapping, the rest would bolt on the X1 being the better choice. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Krid/EZ - You need to spend some time looking at a tube framed bike. The primaries are different from the Blasts, I'm not sure if the X1 style is going to just bolt right on, If I remember correctly, the Tube frame primary cover has a flat for the shifter pivot to rest against... James |

we are only talking about the shifter - not the whole kit - that said - I'm pretty sure thats Blast adaptable, however, I'll check - the question would be is the spacing on the lower mounting point where the shifter mounts to the case the same length apart as the Blasts - that looks pretty adaptable to me. The X1 has more adjustment per AT board
Chicago HD has them for 114 - pretty right in there - pricewise with the other alternatives - we are talking new hardware - Ebay excluded - just pointing it out - Crossroads adapts their S1 shifter for us to use on our Blast and that got me thinking.... Ahhh the problems with the Dark side - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Sorry, I just assumed you'd tap the primary like for the XB shifter, but still probably the easiest way since Banke uses a completely different bracket for the Blast than their S1/M2 shifter set ups. The M2/S1 looks like they have a case boss for the shifter bracket. Definitely adaptable and looks like a longer shifter than the XB. Lots of available choices! I just threw the part numbers in along with the XB part numbers so most of the info would be in one place to alleviate tedious searching! |

Brake side will just use stock Blast parts since they are easily adaptable for rearsets. |

Personally, I like the old style S1/M2 linkage. Since it pivots on the footpeg it makes positioning the set up real easy. Of course finding cheap stock or aftermarket units are a real challenge! |

Check this out - maybe a new option for parts for Blast rearsets... http://www.fullgaz.co.il/archive/oct-06/news/fg262 96-xr1200-new-pics.php It's a new Sportster for the euro market. There's a thread about it in the XB forum. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=32777&post=793105#POST793105 oops - never mind! now I see it bolts to the frame... Does anyone have pics of where they put there home made rear sets? And what is there any update on shifters to use? (Message edited by AZblast on April 04, 2007) |

See the racer section and the picture section and this sections archives for pics. I would use the X1 - with the slight slant from the bolt not being in exactly the same place will make it look like my Banke shifter exactly. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Pictures are everywhere (but will take some looking) but fall into 3 styles: MMelvis-modified stock Y-frames. Frame mounted (in place of y-frames). Engine mounted-clearly the most popular of the homemade. See 'Banke Performance' for pics of engine plate mounting. Engine mounted are a custom fit so you'll place the pegs and controls where you want them. Shifter is up to you. Any mentioned here will work, but it will depend on personal preference, mounting location and availability. An XB shifter will be more readily available since they're on current production bikes. Besides the diagrams in the link at the top, I'll (we'll?) be glad to help you with any questions. |
