Harsblast & Superthrob, I was wondering did you just remove the stock windscreen above the headlight and leave it like that? If so do you have any issues b/c of water getting to the wiring? Thanks |

The stock headlight does a nice job of shielding everything from the rain. My wiring is a bit more exposed and I havent had any problems. Although water certainly isnt any good for wiring, you shouldnt have any problems either. Most problems happen from being stored out in the rain and elements. |

Might have to give that a go tomorrow. I store mine indoors so the elemental impact should be minimal. Do you happen to know which torx size is needed to remove it? ATM I'm purchasing them on a as needed basis. Did you treat the wire connections or relays with anything to seal/condition them like dielectric grease? Because I have two huge connectors right behind the flyscreen. How did you deal with the mounting brackets? Just cut them off and then grind/sand them down? 3/32" allen key for the fairing bolts. I'd leave the mounts on until you are really sure you'll never use the fairing again. I originally chopped/cropped my fairing until I went to the dual headlights and different mounting brackets, then left it off. Makes a big difference in wind buffeting. I usually dont treat wiring with the dielectric grease (or similar), but you can. You'll be fine without it unless you abuse your bike (leave it outside, cover it when still wet, etc, or live in a very humid & rainy place all year round). |

My Blast spent the first several years of its life in the weather. I've had absolutely no problems, unless you count the mirrors rusting off. Anyway, my daughter finally found her camera, so here are my pictures.
Here's my first ignition prototype, with Swampy's wires and mounting plate. Note the green wire that isn't connected. That's the bank angle sensor, clutch switch, etc., wire that tells the ignition to go off if something isn't right. I didn't connect it at all, which won't work because if I turn off the key without turning off the ignition switch, the headlight stays on.
Here's the seat right out of the box. Two shots of the seat, with my new Givi windshield and bar end mirrors:

That looks really good on there Joey! I was wondering if anyone has tried or had anything to say about the Blast Exhaust Torque Stuffer? Fits in the exhaust head pipe next to the exhaust port from the engine. Will it still fit after I switch from OEM exhaust to a Jardine RT1 aftermarket exhaust?

It will do you far more good in the Jardine than the stock exhaust. More than likely hurt the performance of the stocker. It should still fit. Its really for getting low rpm torque back when switching to a free flowing exhaust (or drag pipes). Great on a v-twin where high rpms are rarely used but a waste on a Blast where high rpms are more apt to be used. |

Hey Joey, very nice. I love those mirrors. Where did you get them? Those are exactly what I'm looking for. I really don't like the stock mirrors, I have so much trouble keeping them tight. I can't even think about adjusting them unless I'm stopped with tools ready! Nice seat too! Thanks Beck |

Thanks for the info Gearheaderiko and EZ. I'm also in need of a part name & number. I Just chopped the back tail light, turn signals and license plate plastic down to just the brake light and the top holes for the plate. Remounted the turn signals in the tie down holes in the back (pics coming). Got on to test it out to make sure everything is secure and the way I wanted it. When I got back I was missing the circler metal cover on the right side of the engine (timing cover?) below the piston and airbox. I think it came lose\off going across the draw bridge. But I don't have a service or parts book or know what the name of the part is so I'm kinda SOL ATM. If anyone has links on where to order a OEM replacement or chrome aftermarket replace please let me know. TiA (Message edited by mar_wilmington on May 13, 2007) |

timing cover part # 32341-00YA about $3. However any 2 hole points/timing cover for a 1970-1999 Harley Big Twin or 1971-2007 XL (Sportster) will fit, cover should include 2 screws with it. Use a gasket for a rainproof seal, but its not mandatory. $10-$20. Any cover with a design will be at a slight angle (XL) or 90 degrees turned (Big Twin). Any shop/catalogue carrying HD parts should have these in stock. |

The yellow bike in front is Erik's Race bike, the back yellow bike is Jame's mile eater, the red bike with the homemade luggage rack mounted to the tie loops is Dallas's from AZ. That fast bike is mine - lol. The ground was pretty rugged there - we are all tilted a bit in the pic, so Erik probably is standing in a ground depression. Heres a more tilted picture - lol
Dallas is actually the same height as Erik, yet he looks as tall as me in the pic - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Does anyone know where you can order Avon Viper 140/70's? I'm trying to decide if I should pick up a NEW PAIR of OEM Dunlop K330 Sport tires off craigslist for about $100 shipped which seems pretty good to me and is the lowest I've found online so far. Or wait and order an Avon Viper 140/70 rear w/ a 110/70 front (of a brand to be decided later). But I can't find a place to get Avon Viper 140/70's or check the price. EZ is the handling worth the extra dough? - Yes! What's a girl to do when her bike and her mechanic are broke??
Fix it herself, thats what!!! Her shifter was not just right since her mud slide, but she'd rather ride than mess with that.....BUT, on our last ride together, for some time to come, I had discovered her V&H bracket was loose inside the muffler, and only one bolt holding it on the bike. Sorry, can't procrastinate ANY more, it's going to turn into a mo bigger problem.
Still smiling..well, so far. She hasn't wrestled that muffler off yet though. Got a little tedious
OH!!NO!! Greasy fingers!!
UGHHHH!! Can I help you grunt Baby? Next project
Like this? Lefty Loosy?
Oh Yeah!! Thats better!! I love those boots with her sexy pants.
Don't you move till I'm gone--You'll get my bike dusty.
TEST RIDE!!!!
The race is on!!! Beat that dust cloud!!! He might take her in that gravel. Maybe she's qualified to go ahead and put my pore ol M2 back together. She came in from riding today with oil all over the place. Uh Oh!! She knows what that means!!But we'll wait and be sure, may have been a bit over filled, pretty sure it's nothing serious, especially with a new mechanic in the family!! Rotzaruck!!!!! |

Looks like fun Rotzaruck. Nothing better then riding something after you've fixed it IMHO. I've found the Blast to handle gravel, dirt and sand pretty well as long as it's not more then 1½-2in deep. I have yet another question for the board can SYLVANIA SilverStars be used to replace the stock blast light? Here is an updated pic of my Blast after shaving down the back plastic and remounting the rear turn signals. Plus my new seksi sportster chrome timing cover to replace the plastic OEM one that blew away.

here is the info tach - j&p cycles part # 560-080 i have the SE ign module so it hooks right in oilcooler - drag specialities adapter(oil filter) part # 371016 oil cooler part # 371023 adapter(nut) part # dsnut4400-u clamp part # 371027 the oil filter adapter has to be machined down to fit, the first 5mm from the top has to be reduced by 3mm in diameter and the remainder by 8mm in diameter, there abouts you will also need two 90 deg 1" brackets to bolt oil cooler to clamp, i got a lenght of aluminium L and cut the pieces that i needed from it additional hose and clamps need for hook up |
