NYT, I appreciate your continued measuring of things. I have a similar issue with my wrists. The OEM are a little high, though comfortable, and the superbikes look a little low.
Your bike is looking great, enjoy.

the measurments i came up with are this:

stock bars: 7" rise
Daytona bars: 4" rise
Superbike bars: 2" rise

according to the chaparral website the Daytona bars have a rise of 5 1/4" and the superbike bars have a rise of 3"

i am not sure how they measure the rise but i believe my measurements are correct.

when i ordered my bars from Chaparral i was not sure which bars i would prefer. since they are so cheap ($12.99 each) i ordered both the Daytona & the Superbike bars with the intention of sending the unused bars back. do not forget to get grip glue with your bars unless you are going to get the Buell traction grips, which comes with a small tube of glue.

the mirrors i got from dennis kirk: http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Prod uct.jsp?skuId=39306&store=Main&catId=&productId=p3 9306&leafCatId=&mmyId=

i think they look pretty good but i wish the stem was longer. you have to move around a little to get a good view behind you. i got used it it quickly and it presents no problems it is something i thought i should mention. one thing i did forget to mention with the fairing is it does vibrate a bit at idle. once you get moving though there are no vibrations. that is one reason i have it leaned back so it is just about touching the foam on the speedo, to help stop some of the vibrations at idle.

I've broken both of my wrists several times. Didn't have much trouble with the superbike bars this summer. On occasion one would go numb though.

Last addition to this topic/off topic - good grips help a lot - I've tried dozens and I keep comming back to the Traction grips by Buell - they absorb vibration well and are very ergonomic.

I've been using ProGrip Superbike Gel grips for years...I never realized just how good they were until I did a test ride before installing a new set..

hey xgecko, what bars are you using on your bike, and how much did it hurt you to fork out all that cash to pay for the rear controls?

The bars are Moose Racing steel ATV bars of all the bars that I have used I like the rise and pull back on these the most...as for the rearsets you don't know Turtles history I guess...my Blast was rebuilt from the engine up about a year after I bought it (mines a 2000). I bought the salvage from the insurance company and got the full total cost to invest back in to the bike. Well some of it went on the note but well you get the picture. Over the years I have tried many different looks (check out the Yahoo group photo galleries) at this point I am very happy with the look.

It does look nice. A refined look that might actually sell well. Those rear saddlebags and tank bag are a perfect fit.

Since I dont know the history, why the salvage?

Thanks...still haven't decided to actually sell it and given financing right now I'm not gonna which is why I have been putting the effort into Blast lately (pretty certain I'm gonna do a B50 cam this winter as well). My dad and I are doing a mini tour out to western NY and back via secondary/back roads this summer. As for why I chose to do the salvage thing it was cheap I don't think I paid more that a few hundred for it and because at the time I was way way too attached to my blast. The frame, swingarm, bars, trees, belt tires and some other minor stuff were what was damaged. Rebuilding was actually pretty easy and cost effective.

Actually I really meant were you hurt and how was the accident caused?
Mine is now on a 'salvage' title (though it doesnt say salvage anywhere on the title) and it cost me less than a $100 to put it back on the road.
Thats quite a lot of damage to your Blast and they still let you fix it.

Some states have 2 different titles: salvage and non-repairable.

OH what happened? I was merging onto the hiway and a guy was impatient pulled out stomped on the gas and rear-ended me. I was doing 15mph before impact, flew 40-50 feet rolled (thank you 10 years of Aikido/Jodo) got up stalked back and proceeded to scream and yell. His insurance company was terrified I was gonna sue (a fact that I kept hinting at) so they were up to doing anything to keep me out of court. They deducted a few hundred from the settlement check (total payout) and let me go on my way. The salvage thing was a minor issue when I was registering here in Rhode Island because the Hawaii title wasn't "normal" but now it is here in little Rhody. I destroyed my helmet and scuffed my leather jacket on the right arm (covered now by an Team Elves patch) jammed my belt knife into my hip (the reason I carry a boot knife now) and bruised some ribs. No major injuries.

xgecko- thanks so much for putting up pics. I also have moose dirt bike bars- $15.00 and the bend is just right...Your hand guards look great. They look like they would preclude the use of bar-end mirrors, is that correct?

EZ, my handguards aren't anything like the City-X guards. there is a 1 1/4" bar-end weight that bolts outside the grip that the guard bolt to the outside of. They also enclose a lot more of the bar from the wind. Adding the Touratech spoilers to them this weekend (I hope depends on work) to make them break more wind. It was 19 degrees this AM and I was toasty.

I guess it would depend on the guards then - eh?
