Stock is good enough!
However, if you do decide to look for a different wire and coil make sure they are compatible with the SE ignition. Between the SE and stock coil and wire there seems to be a lot of warnings about not using this with that and so on.
If you do the research, feel free to let us know what you find out.

As long as you keep the stock electrics clean and waterproofed it will stand the test ...

this is the final word on the ign coil from the research that i did

the newer blast has a high performance coil in it already no mods needed

the older ones did not so the previous mentioned coil can be used if needed

thanks for all the input

sorry for the delay

i got the parts book for my 2005 blast and it has the same part # for the coil

i spoke to the technician at the dealership who has been working on my bike and he said that the part # remained the same but the specs have changed, the resistance when testing the primary and secondary coils have changed

i will try to get the specs and post it so everyone can distinguish between the old and new coils

I'd like to see the specs.
HD/Buell seems to change part #'s whenever they make small changes, even indiscernible ones. I cant believe they wouldnt at least add a letter or year notation to it.

Thanks again for the updates.

Reuel,

After talking to my mechanic at the shop that works on my Blast he strongly suggested upgrading the other side of the ignition equation since I have the screamin eagle ignition and other performance mods. My guy is a flat track oval racer and has been for year and the one are where you can loose power in the upper power band has to do with poor spark. He told me to contact a tech with Nology who would have some good insight.

Bottom line this is what I have ordered and will be included in the ignition mods. These items have been tried, proven, and testing by Blast flat track riders.

Guys - don't do it - snake oil - what is the heat range on their plug? That is a very important question. I am one of the first Blastards to use their stuff, and blow up an engine with it - lol - but I was sad then.

Ez,

Can you send me a separate PM? Don't do the coil and the wire or don't use the plug?

Here are the specs on the Silverstar Nology plug: part number 150 121 090 B2S M12x1.25 -19mm reach (3/4"),Gasket, 17.5mm Hex Non-Resistor (Heat Range 8-9)

I am currently using the Denso Iridium IXU01-27 per your recommendation.

Cheers,

Heat range needs to be more in the 10 area - don't bother with the whole set up - it makes you pretty hot and you'll have to jet way higher as well - I was running 45/175 and still way too lean - the plug your running now is the top of the line - there is no better and the stock coil and wire do the job very well indeed. Sure you can pay more but the job they do will be the same quality as you have now - and the Nology stuff will definitely need dyno time to dial in at any rate - fact.
